Do we want to survive in the lies or thrive in the truth? Virtue ensures happiness because it leads to our thriving. And there is a great freedom that comes from living virtuously.

How we suffer says a lot– about who we are, about our hope in God, about our trust..
Fr. Joseph, EWTN Daily Catholic Mass 3/12/18
A day before my birthday, July 5, over four years back, I posted this. It was Typewriter Series #105. Funny how things rise and spin, turn and swell, before returning to us. I hope you know you are Brave. All of you, even when you don’t feel like it. You are here, you show up, and my god that takes courage. Thank you, for yours.
We all know we need to do self-care. We know this. But, honestly, self-care takes time and time isn’t something organizers and activists tend to have in abundance. For anyone with marginalized identities or at the intersection of marginalized identities, self-care is something that may just not feel possible, even if it’s more needed than ever.

I hope you all find yourselves sleeping with someone you love, maybe not all of the time, but a lot of the time. The touch of a foot in the night is sincere. I hope you like your work, I hope there’s mystery and poetry in your life — not even poems, but patterns. I hope you can see them. Often these patterns will wake you up, and you will know that you are alive, again and again.

I’ve decided to make a space for the smaller things. A journal of sorts, made up of poorly written words and shoebox photographs. If you’d like, you can find it all at @hanstaylorsattler (my best friends call me Hans, the name is much cooler than the story) (at Port Angeles, Washington)
