Animal Studies, page 4

Finally another page of fluffy babes :D I’ve noticed I really like drawing fur. Its so loose and wild I can just attack the page with scribbles and it just looks neat.

I started with my animal drawings to improve my own creatures drawings, but ngl I’m just enjoying admiring animals atm. They’re such precious beings. Their lives are so complex and chaotic yet everything links and balances itself out. I am in such awe of the natural world... Wish industries would fuck off and leave these guys alone...

Java Acrylic Painting 2.0

After creating my mini portrait of Java I then upped the size and made this piece. This was actually a wedding gift for my brother. Which he loves btw :D

I couldn’t believe how focused I was when creating this. Took me 6 hours from start to finish and I was so determined to do it all in one go. Pushing myself to complete this in one day meant I was on a goddamn roll and I am so happy with the result!

Mini Java Portrait :3

First off I made this on 16th August, but only now am I updating my blog… I’ve been busy with life stuff so this is me making an attempted to get back into creating for myself and ACTUALLY REMEMBERING TO SHARE WHAT I DO

I bought a bunch of mini canvases and I managed to find the time and motivation to create a mini portrait of my baby :)

I remembered to take progress photos yaaay :D

My Observational Drawings Sketchbook Page 3

Here is another page full of animal studies ^-^ I’ve been using pinterest a butt load now, I get my images of animals from there. I’m getting faster at sketching I make sure I don’t spend over an hour on a drawing. The only reason I end up taking so much time on a sketch is because I get carried away with shading and adding detail :P I love how much I’ve developed <3

My Baby Kins, Java <3

Recently I had to say goodbye to my beautiful friend Java. He had been apart of my life for as long as I can remember and it hurts so much knowing he’s no long with us. It feels like the end of an era.

Creature Illustration

This is something I’ve been wanting to get back into, designing then illustrating a creature. Conceptualizing a creature I can do fairly well, but what I need practice with is creating a finished digital painting of my idea, to really give it life. It will be fun to experiment with different illustration and painting styles in future creature drawings.

P.s And yes it was going to have 6 limbs :P

This was actually a therapeutic drawing for me. I’ve been a little stressed about what I should be doing with myself; been overthinking about whats expected of me and struggling to know what to do or where to go as an artist. Its causing me to panic about how I’m using my time and its sucking the joy out of drawing for me.

I decided to draw myself as a way of letting myself be noticed. I often feel invisible, as in, I feel no one will care about me or my art. Having a portrait of myself has really helped me feel like I deserve some recognition.

More creature thumbnails I’ve done :) I think there’s some slight improvements happening such as a bit more details and thinking about the overall shape. It’s been over a month since my last post and annoyingly I’ve just not been very motivated to keep this up as much as I hoped I would. Maybe April will be a little different :P

Creature Thumbnails

I have these tiny sketchbooks which are 1. adorable 2. handy for doodling. I’ve started to fill one with creature thumbnails. Normally I start my doodle with a scribble and try to grab any shapes I see and go from there. It’s tough sometimes it really challenges your creativity.

Sometimes during work when the shop is quiet I doodle on the some receipt paper. I’ve drawn the manikins before, but I’ve lost those pieces of paper :/

My Observational Drawings Sketchbook Pages 1 & 2

Since around October 2017 I started this sketchbook for observational sketches. So far it’s just been animals drawings - I just love drawing animals; nature genuinely fascinates me. Basically I’ll go sit and watch any old nature show on Netflix (watching 72 deadliest animals series atm) or I go on Pinterest to find something to draw.

My sketching skills are improving I’m trying to put more energy into my mark making which means I’m faster and being less precious on details. I REALLY need to sketch more often though. Hopefully I’ll be more determined to keep this up now I’ve made a solid start!

The other reason for watching documentaries and drawing animals is to improve my foundation of knowledge for creature art. I’m wanting to create some of my own creatures so studying real animals is of course the best way to prepare.

So I’m wanting to get back into using Photoshop again. I’ve not had a chance to just sit and play about on it in a loooong while so I’ve kept it simple and added some colour to a sketch I did recently.
