Kagura, a side character of Inuyasha, one day hears a strange sound and is suddenly pulled deeper into her own storyline. She thinks it is strange but does not pay much attention to it at first. However, she soon notices something unsettling—she cannot remember anything prior, how she got to certain places, or even when she eats or sleeps. It feels as though parts of her life are missing.

While searching for Sesshōmaru, Kagura stumbles upon a strange aura. Following it, she discovers a mysterious book with Inuyasha written on the cover.

When she opens it, she realizes the book contains her story.

And then she finds the page showing her death.

why the hell did they make sessrin happen in y@shahime when THIS is canon

kagura's death is what changed sesshomaru's soul. kagura's death was the first time he truly was able to care about another person on a deeper level. like yes he revived rin, but that was mainly out of curiosity. he kept her around, i dont know why, and eventually became protective of her as a sort-of-daughter.

but kagura he grieved over first. reviving rin was not enough to make tenseiga acknowledge his soul's transformation. kagura awakened his full emotional depth and capacity for love. kagura affected him so deeply that he fundamentally changed as a person. sesskagu is real

Out of all the sad scenes in Inuyasha the one that made me cry for real was Kagura's death. It was just so fucking cruel and then beautiful and satisfying to see the impact she had.

It make me laugh when raisins call SessKagu a “crackship” when :

-There are official arts of them printed on official Inuyasha’s photobooks.

-There are official goodies of them together

-Rumiko Takahashi said that SessKagu’s story is similar to MirSan. She said that in the beginning she didn’t intend to entangle Sesshomaru and Kagura so much but it went natural with the flow of the story exactly like Miroku and Sango. From 《Rumiko Takahashi Book》 2019

-Kappei Yamaguchi said that he likes Sesshomaru and Kagura’s adult relationship because Inuyasha and Kagome are still young, they can’t confirm their feelings for each other and they are still in the pre-romantic relationship. From the magazine “ANIMAGE”, November 2009.

-There is an article from <Takahashi Rumiko Bon Vol. 14> written by the mangaka Iida Koichiro, approved by Rumiko, that it says that Kagura ends up losing her life because of her rebellion against Naraku, but her feelings for Sesshomaru are requited.

So, yeah, the author herself and one of the seiyuu compared SessKagu to 2 100% CANON couples and, if they could do this, evidently there is something special about this pairing that makes it close to a canon couple.
