ā¤ļøš§”šššš . . Understanding change. Being flexible. It seems so simple, but man is it hard. This guy had 8 things different at school yesterday. 8! He listened. He accepted. He asked questions. Some things were totally unknown and I couldnāt prepare him for it, like a different van picking him up for school. Heās learning about himself. How to cope. How to express his thoughts & feelings. Friendship
Trust, Loyalty, Forgiveness, Acceptance, Laughter, Support, Empathy
All the wonderful makings of a beautiful relationship⦠friendship. Friendship is hard. Itās hard to find people you whole heartedly trust. People who love you for exactly who you are. People who lift you up and provide endless support. People who share your tears and your joys. People who you miss when they are not near.

Back to School
Itās back to school time!! Yay! Back to school shopping, prepping, excitement for whoās in whose class. Ha Not so much this year. This year itās filled with fear, nerves, confusion, and uncertainty. Emotions are running high.
Emotions are running high for my little guy too. He wants to know everything. He loves school! How will it be the same? How will it be different? Will there be whiteboardā¦

Parent Advocacy
Today I watched a webinar on the education of children with I.E.P.ās during COVID. I felt it was a great way to prep myself for our upcoming āteamā meeting before the school year begins. The entirety of the presentation was made up of questions from parents and caregivers. It was not only informative but gave me this small moment of self-reflection. It really validated the importance of advocacyā¦

Just Imagine
The crying. The tantrums. The kicking. The falling to the ground. The feeling of never getting it right. I understand. I see you. I know youāre frustrated. I know it feels hopeless. I know it feels never ending. I know it feels lonely. But imagine how they must feel.
Imagine knowing what you need, but no one knows what that is. Imagine feeling sadness, but no one knows why. Imagine seeing yourā¦

When a parent receives a diagnosis, you are so consumed with your own feelings, thoughts, worries, that you may forget about those of family & friends who are also now trying to process. It's ok.
Itās ok.
Itās ok to be not ok. Itās not ok to be not ok alone.
Life can be hard. Challenges you never imagined, with a future that is unknown. Itās understandable to become overwhelmed, anxious, fearful. Itās ok to say I am not ok. Itās ok to struggle at times. Itās ok to question your role and purpose. Itās ok to not have an answer.
Whatās not ok is to have to go through any of those feelingsā¦

Big & Little Buddies
Big & LittleĀ Buddies
Having a second child came with many thoughts, feelings, and questions. It took time for us, but he was very much worth the wait! He brought changes to our family that we never imagined. He has given me the gift of watching two, quite different, children grow. Milestones being reached at various stages.
The gift I was so unsure would happen was the gift of play. Not with me, but for his bigā¦

I wish
I wish they could see what I can see.
I see a boy who is trying so hard. You see a boy who is distracted.
I see a boy who is just being him, but notices when you see him as different.
I see a boy who loves to sing and dance. You see a boy who hates loud music and crowds.
I see a boy who loves to laugh, but notices when you laugh at him.
I see a boy who loves hugs and attention.ā¦

An Unexpected Reminder
When life throws a curve ball, it can be hard to cling to the positives. To see the beautiful in each day. To not allow fear, uncertainty, and anxiety to take over.
Our daily routine has been turned upside down. Weāve had to find a new normal. Create a new schedule. Try our best to meet all our childrenās needs within the confinement of our home. All while attempting to stay calm and makeā¦

Breakthroughs
Seeing your child struggle with things that come so easily to others is painful. My heart aches. I feel frustrated. Not with him. Iām not sure what Iām frustrated with really. But when all that hard work leads to a small breakthrough, a moment where something feels ānormalā, itās an indescribable feeling. Almost like a sigh of relief.
My little guy struggles with loud noises. Not his own. Heāsā¦
