Film Review of Avatar: Fire And Ash (2025): 10/10

Disclaimer, I only saw this film once. When I review a movie, I try to see it at least twice to get an accurate reading of it, but I don’t think I need that for this movie; I LOVED it and I will be rewatching it over and over.

Firstly, I’ve been a fan of Avatar since the 2009 movie; when I was younger, I’d watch it over and over again. No one can understand the excitement I felt when they announced that they were gonna be making sequels💖💖💖 I was itching to see it.

The second film was good; it wasn’t as good as the first but I enjoyed it. That being said however, I thought this movie would be like that. I thought I would just like it and that’s it🤷🏾‍♀️ but I was pleasantly surprised.

Let’s get into the story line: I loved the character arc of Netryri from feeling so resentful toward humans for what they did to her and her life. Honestly, I think she was completely valid for her hatred and I don’t think I would’ve been able to not hate them, but that’s just me.

Jake’s comment about him and their children being half human and seemed to get to Netryri and I liked that. That conversation, to me, showed their open communication on subjects as hard as that and it was cute.

Also, I loved how she was the only to run after Jake to stop him from killing Spider; it was heartwarming.

Also, why is Jake always being saved by Netryri😭😭 yet he makes the big decisions??? Girl, they need to work like a matriarchy or something because Jake is death-prone💀

This scene where Netryri painted herself as one of them to get her man GURL YASSSSSS. GO GET YOUR JAKE. and also, that little bicker they had about her going to save him after he told her not to was funny bc Jake stfu 🤨 you would’ve been dead without her.

And let’s not run over the historical aspect of this film bc this is literally colonization. Being from America, I immediately clocked that, even as a small child. I thought that conversation was cute, but I would’ve killed every single human I laid my eyes on, except Spider 😜.

Speaking of Spider….Spider and Kiri are so cuteeeeeeee omg yassssss. That little kiss!!!!

I was not expecting that but I mean, it works! They’re cute and I could tell Kiri always liked him. “Monkey boy” 😭😭

Let’s get into Varang and the colonel:

What the actual fuck…I expected a lot of shit from this movie, but not that. Varang is lowkey fabulous, idc.

Her character design is chefs kiss 💋 like omg she looks hauntingly beautiful omg. However, THE COLONEL??? she ended up with HIM? THE TENT SCENE?!!!!! I was appalled. How could that nasty, ugly, fuckass bitch end up with her??? Anyways 🙄 besides her aesthetic and badass-ness, I obviously didn’t like her bc wdym you hurt my goddess Netryri?

My favorite scene besides the one I’ll speak about in a sec was the fire dance scene.

That was powerful and I was lowkey freaked out a bit. I liked what she did with the blade things; that was awesome.

ALR I BEEN YAPPING FOR A WHILE, BUT NOW WE GETTING TO THE MEAT AND BONESSSSS

Kiri and Ewa…yall I started tearing up 😭😭 That. Was. Beautiful.

This almost made me believe in Eywa 😭😭 I was so infatuated with this scene. I heard some discourse online about Eywa having eyebrows and that’s only an Avatar thing so Eywa must be part human??? I don’t think that’s the case; I figured that Eywa appeared the way Kiri interpreted her bc isn’t that how it works with gods and deities?

Idk, but either way I loved that scene. And Kiri being the one to be in direct contact with Eywa, not just literally but also connecting with nature to help them fight the war was, to me, evidence that Kiri is directly connected to Eywa in a way that the others aren’t.

If I remember correctly, the movie said something about her being Eywa’s child, but I thought she was Grace reincarnated. Either way, I’m very impressed and I applaud the writers for this movie because they did a wonderful job with this part of the storyline.

There’s so much more I could talk about with this part of the film, but I don’t even know where I could begin. I will be doing a lot of research into this because I want to see what everyone else thinks.

Kiri was NOT playing with Varang. She don’t play abt her mother ☺️👌🏾.

Omg I almost forgot about Spider turning to a Na’vi!!! That scene where Kiri revived him reminded me of Netryri’s mother transferring Jake’s soul to his avatar, and that gave me chilllssssss. Also, I wonder if he’s going to turn blue 🤔 I’ll just have to see during the 4th movie. His little kuru is so cute 🥰

Anyways, I enjoyed this movie very much. I will always be a diehard Avatar fan; the visuals are out of this world and I can’t wait for the other movies to come out. Hell, I even started learning the language 😭😭 (or trying to)

My Review of Superman 2025 film: 190000/10

I know I’m very late to reviewing the movie. I watched it like 600 times since it came out, but I decided to review it now.

I watched it again 2 seconds ago and I was smiling the whole movie😭😭 omg I even made a YouTube video on it because it was so good.

This film was just such a breath of fresh air! It’s engaging and so visibly bright and saturated. This is the type of movie you put on after watching a horror film to calm yourself down before you sleep.

It’s so comforting and surprisingly funny. 😭😭 there’s so much comedic humor sprinkled throughout the scenes, and I needed it when they were trashing my boy😞 #supershit

I loved David Corenswet; I think he was the perfect choice for Superman. Honestly, I never got into DC like that before Superman. I liked Suicide Squad, Birds of Prey, and Teen Titans but that was pretty much it.

I’m more of a Marvel girlie honestly. Spider-Man is my favorite and will always be my og; Ironman and Hulk is right next to him😌 I just never considered myself into DC like that, but now I feel inspired to buy the Superman shirt.

In fact, I watched the Henry Cavil Superman movie right before I first watched this to get some back ground info, and I didn’t dislike it. It wasn’t shit like how the internet said it would be, but it was more dark and serious

I prefer this version to the last, but I can acknowledge that these two versions are for different audiences. The Man of Steel movies made Superman more super; it kinda portrayed him as a god different from humans.

I feel like that version of Superman is more Kal El than Clark Kent.

However, this movie portrayed him as more or a man; he’s a normal guy who thinks and feels like a human.

I love this Superman ❤️ gave me good vibes and faith in the world. Genuinely.

I can’t review this film without talking abt Kypto. Kypto is so chaotic and incredibly hilarious 😭😭 bro does not gaf and he’s just in his own world. UGHHHH I WANT A KYPTO (And a Mr. Terrific😉)

Also can’t forget about his cousin. I thought he and Supergirl were siblings 🤔 but it’s honestly better if they’re cousins because I don’t remember Kal El having a sibling in the other movies.

After 2 days of letting Dracula: A Love Tale marinate in my mind, I've made a decision. I give the movie a 9/10.

This won't be super in-depth or analytical like my other takes. I just wanted to talk more about this movie, because it did leave a stamp on me.

I finally understand my obsession with this movie and why I was so bewitched by it. This movie is like a romance novel. I never see romance this passionate and vulnerable on screen (since The Notebook) and as a romance girlie, I YEARNNNN to see it on screen. When I do see it, it's never done right, or at least not to the standard I want it to be.

2025 Dracula does it perfectly, other than the ending but whatever. 🙄 Can't have it all ig.

Vlad is literally the new face of yearning 😩😩😩 Mr Darcy is now number 2. 🤭I saw some people talking about how the scar that runs down his cheek is from 400 years of crying for her. 😭😭😭 GAHHHHH YALL IM WATCHING THAT MOVIE AGAIN.

It's like Dracula has reawakened my belief in true love. The fact that someone wanted a film like this so much so that they had it produced is just soooo hopeful for the romantics out there. (me) All of it was so romantic and passionate, and I just felt like I was finally seeing a romance novel/Wattpad display of passion on screen.

Also, I watched Bram Stoker's Dracula and I didn't finish it :(. Like an hour in and I still couldn't understand why it's considered a romance. Maybe because it was the 90s, but I really don't like that "pull her too you" and like forceful shit. Also, I kept feeling like I was witnessing Mina's friend getting molested by a wolf😭😭 I just didn't like the weird freakiness in the movie, and that's saying alot bc im not opposed to freakiness. Obviously not, I like this movie and they were FREAKS but they were passionate and intimate freaks. The sex scenes added to getting the extent of their love across, but Bram Stoker's didn't.

Anyway, I love it. It's my new go-to "lovey dovey" movie for when I'm feeling like a loveless loser, and Dracula gives Dracy a run for his money in the male yearning competition 😋😋 GOD I LOVE ME A MALE YEARNERRRR.

Also, I was wondering where I saw Dracula's actor from, and he's from Get Out. He played the weird brother 💀💀 rip.

My review of the 2025 film, Sinners: 10/10. This movie hit me in a special spot and I will always place this in my top 5 favorite vampire films.

So I watched this after my parents did, and they said they didn't like it. That didn't phase my opinion of it because I saw the trailer, and I knew it was gonna be some gooood shit

I WAS PROVEN RIGHTTTTT.

One, I usually have a love/hate relationship with historical films or history-inspired films because, as a Black person, our representation in these historical films is either completely none or servants, slaves, or it's a biopic about racism. I don't want to erase the bad history that my people have faced from production or films, and I will die on the hill that telling the bad part of our history is VERY important; I don't like censorship or not showing shit bc it looks bad.

(While I understand that this trend within media is starting to fade. Bridgerton, I forgot that one show based during Medieval time but that one too)

I love that Sinners expresses that dark part of history, while still keeping a sense of Black pride and Ethnic pride within it. We see the racists, but the focus isn't solely on them and when it is, they're obviously gonna get what's coming to them for being pieces of shits.

It's a very unapologetically Black movie.🤞😌

We see Smoke and Slim take no shit and Smoke literally annihilates those khan idiots, which I loved 😌

There's diversity and a sort of "minority unity" in the film too with the representation of both the characters and when Preacher Boy is playing his song. That was probably one of my favorite parts.

Now, the bigger picture (to me) speaks directly to racism and the Christian conversion thing, which I will talk abt below.

I don't know much abt Irish history, so forgive me for not connecting much to Remmick in regards to Ireland's history with the US or Christianity (heard some ppl make connections to that on TikTok). Whenever Preacher Boy first enters the church after the whole thing at the Juke Joint went down, his father (pastor) tells him to drop the guitar. The guitar obviously isn't just abt his music but it's also a representation of spirituality, more specifically African and then African American spirituality(hoodoo). We see that in the power his playing emits, it's exactly what Remmick was after.

In the church, he fights between the religion of the land he's been taught and his spirituality. Between what he was instructed to believe, to what his roots are. His father thinks it's evil and of the devil, so he tells Preacher Boy to drop it, and he doesn't. It's something I've watched close family members of mine relate to and struggle with. Their spirituality vs their religion. God vs Soul. Something that they are told is wrong and "witchcraft" and something traced back to their roots.

(I'm not saying that Christianity is only a white thing or that Black people can't be full-fledged Christians. I'm speaking to the conversion of African people to Christianity and destroying their original religion and practices in the process)

The connection with hoodoo/voodoo that this movie has is deep, and I related a lot of the stories told to me about my parent's childhood and my own experiences to that movie. I felt seen by that movie.

My father's side of the family is Christian. I mean all up in the church, and my grandpa is a pastor. Hoodoo or voodoo ain't even a word in his vocabulary 😭😭 my mother's side is a mix of both. They call themselves Christian and I don't doubt their belief in God, however, they have a past with hoodoo. There are so many rules I was raised with that comes from hoodoo and I ain't even know it.

So to see that, I felt a connection there. I also love that Preacher Boy ain't give in 🙂‍↕️ like he's rejected that conversion. (In a way)

As I said, Preacher Boy being asked to let go of the guitar in the name of God, kind of reminds me of the Christian conversion periods in history, and especially during slavery.

It also showcases the power of music and how deep music goes in not just Black culture, but a lot of cultures. SOUNDTRACK 🤤😋

So now let's get into the casting 🙏🤤

The aesthetics were absolutely amazzzinnng and the scene where Annie is holding her and Smoke's deceased baby, I got chills. Even the scene where she's in all white and telling him to let the cigarette out bc she doesn't want the "smoke" to get on the baby 😌 like she's telling him to let go of the "Smoke" persona and just be Elijah.

As I said, I love historical fiction, and part of why is because of the old aesthetics. I love the car Slim and Smoke ride in SO MUCH 🤤

"Nah we cousins" LITERALLY IS MY VOCAL STIM OF THE YEAR.

Yall, I just absolutely loved this movie. I loved the aesthetics, the diversity, the plot, the casting, and the connection to Black culture.

I LOVE me a Black vampire movie and this hit the spot.

10/10. I recommend you watch.

My review of the 2025 Dracula: undecided/10.

I don't know how to feel about it. The other day, I reviewed 2014's Dracula Untold and spoke a bit about Mirena and Vlad love, and how I liked it.

In the aspect of romance, this film did NOT disappoint. Dracula was literally the DEFINITION of male yearning, and y'all I was literally crying for like half the screen time. Words cannot convey how much I love male yearning. 😈😋 That aspect was good and I will go further into that after I talk abt something else.

The ending got me. It was very abrupt(?)Dracula was BROKEN when Elisabetta died. I mean, bro was absolutely grief-stricken and literally threw himself off his castle window countless times in an effort to kill himself. He broke into her grave and cried at the ashes after like 100 or 200 years after her death.. 😭😭 bro NEEDED that cookie💀😭

He goes from doing anything and everything to finally see her again after 400 years to letting some old ass priest from a religion he claims to hold disdain for convince him to let himself die and leave her? All in the matter of idk, two days? A day and a half with her after 400 years of severe loneliness and longing? I get it, "if you love them, you'd let them go" and he knew he'd be her destruction, blah blah blah 🙄 but it was just abrupt and kinda didn't make much sense when compared to his prior actions.

That part just seemed...rushed.

It was also surprisingly witty and funny. Omg especially when Dracula has the interviewer tied up and he's trying to laugh but it sounds like some stray cat dying 😭😭

And the interviewer telling jokes💀

And then Dracula dumbass throws a sword at the man attacking Elisabetta and it stabs through her too. 😭💀 (rip) It probably wasn't meant to be funny, but that made me laugh. Plus bro was always stalking😭 he just pops out of nowhere a lot of the time.

HOW COULD I FORGET ABT THE PERFUME DANCE? That was literally brilliant. 😭 Don't get me wrong, it was goofy, but like the perfect amount of goofy. Bro basically created a pheromone spray💀 it's giving omegaverse😭😭

Also, I like the difference in how he gets Elisabetta to want him. He doesn't use the spray or some weird scheme or "vampire seduction". He doesn't have to, because she ends up choosing him from her memories. She doesn't need to be seduced or tormented like the others. (Nosferatu, which I don't consider romantic, and Bram Stoker's Dracula, which is iffy too.)

Also saw many parallels with Nosferatu. The interviewer and Dracula were like a better and less tense version of Thomas and Count Orlock, which I appreciated.

Cool movie.

Now....my favorite part 😈😋🙏

Mkay, so I've talked about the concept of "ugly growing into attraction before when talking about Pride and Prejudice. (I won't review that probably because we've all seen it and I have pretty much the same opinions as everyone else on the film.)

Dracula isn't like (IM NOT TRYING TO BE MEAN. JUST HEAR ME OUT) a hot character. If we're comparing Vlad from Dracula Untold or even Bram Stoker's Dracula, he ain't a sight for sore eyes. I'm not saying he's ugly, I'm just saying that he looks...normal. He doesn't look extravagant or super attractive like how you'd expect a love interest to look.

At least not off the bat.

But as the movie goes on and his display of love for Elisabetta becomes more apparent and frequent, he grows to become beautiful.

My disappointment in his appearance fades and I start to appreciate(?) his "normal countenance"? It's like I was charmed by him???

It's a thing I also realized when watching the 2005 Pride and Prejudice. Darcy and even Bingley's characters weren't like absolute panty droppers (especially when comparing Pride and Prejudice and Zombies' actors for the two characters) and at first, I was disappointed 😭 (yall stfu. I can be shallow. Im young)

I remember hearing abt the idea of growing in love with someone's character and how that can influence how you view them physically. That concept definitely applied to this film (for me) and it made me feel another level of appreciation for the character. The entire film (for the first time in like a million years), I didn't focus on how physically hot the actors were, and I instead focused on how hot he became(?) My opinion of him as a lover wasn't shaped by his appearance, but by his actions. (GOD I LOVE ME A YEARNER😋)

Not to mention, bro's a PASSIONATE lover (if you know what I mean😋) I had to skip the sex scenes because I was watching this while getting my hair braided by my mom, but HONEY HE WAS WHIPPED. The kiss scenes were something else and he was always crying when he talked abt her. GAHHHHH I love a guy who can show his emotions. He was so...emotional and deep, and omg I was completely taken.

The scene where they kissed for the first time since he found her again... YALL I SITTING WITH MY HAND OVER MY MOUTH LIKE "OOP! 🤭"

Even his words😋#gimmedat

Bro was like "Take my hand, hands never lie...you've enjoyed them caressing your face and your hips too" LIKE STFU RN BEFORE I START HITTING AND PUNCHIN PILLOWS.

"In your heart. In your soul. You feel me Elisabetta" LIKE OMG WHO IS THIS SCRIPT WRITER????

I've watched PLENTY of romantic media in my lifetime, and I've never been able to say that I've always enjoyed the lines without gagging with cringe...until now.

I was clutching my PEARLS but I was NOT cringing 🤭🤤 that was beautiful, passionate, and hot as fuck.

So in terms of their love story, this is my new favorite. I think it reaches my standard of romance (male yearning 😋🤤 yummy....) but the ending let me down a bit.

In fact, it let me down so much that I don't know how to feel abt the film yet. Maybe it's because I watched it today and I hadn't had enough time to marinate on it, but I don't know.

I'll give it a range between 7-9/10.

And I love me a good expression of style and aesthetics, so shout out to this movie poster!! Beautiful color scheme.

My review of 2014's Dracula Untold: 10/10. Epic and (sexy 😛) film

Okay so I watched Bram Stoker's 1992 Dracula a couple of years ago, and it wasn't the worst I've seen. It was like most 90s Gothic films( I don't know why, but they were all freak out) and i rated it a 6/10.

I found this film from a Google search for Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, I'll rate that some other time. I watched it with VERY low expectations and was pleasantly surprised.

I liked how this version focused solely on his transformation from human to vampire, and it gives a different perspective on him. Don't get me wrong, Dracula is as ruthless as he usually is in Dracula Untold, but I see another side to him. I guess it's a side that makes him more human, especially to his son and his wife.

Usually, he's just some dark, powerful, lustful vampire (he still is) but he was given a little most human(?) characteristics and I liked that.

THE FIGHT SCEEENNNESSSS

Y'all, I love a good fight scene, and other than anime, I never get to see one. However, this movie did NOT disappoint. The first fight scene after becoming a vampire is like some crazy super villain "man vs devil" shit, and that's cool. He's literally fighting an "army of one thousand men" and absolutely destroys all of them. Even though it looks believable. The movie bossed him up so much that I could actually believe that one vampire slaughtered at LEAST one thousand men in like hours, maybe minutes.

And there's this one shot where the audience sees him fighting the men through the sword's reflection; literally some crazy cool shit.

It lives up to the centuries-old idea that vampires (in this case Vlad) have the strength of "one thousand men" and it's a welcome change because lately, vampires have been portrayed as these sort of hiding in the dark creatures. And we also humanize them a fuck ton (Interview with a Vampire, Twilight, etc) and while I love it, it's nice to see a vampire as I always thought it was supposed to be: a human eating, ruthless, monster.

Omg, plus Vlad is a panty dropper 🤤 and y'all I LOVE a deep heartfelt romance and so I enjoyed watching Mirena and Vlad together. I like that mushy, "I'll never leave you 😩😪" shit and they were definitely giving that. I LOVE A YEARNING MAN AND WHEN HE SAW MIRENA'S REINCARNATION AND GAVE HER THAT LOOK 🤤😋 TRUST, I WILL BE ON THAT. LIKE BRO WAS ABSOLUTELY LOVE STRICKEN😩 AND YEARNING FOR HIS DEAD LOVE 😋😋GAHHHH YES SIR 🧎‍♀️

In conclusion, it's good bc of Vlad and the portrayal of Dracula. If you're into everything I just said, watch it. Will not disappoint.

My review for the 2025 Frankenstein: 9/10. This film was absolutely beautiful.

Okay so when I first heard of this film, I didn't have the highest hopes compared to when other films made in 2025 were released. Honestly, it was because it's a Netflix film and I just have a bit of a prejudice against Netflix because it's a streaming network. 😔🤞

However, I was absolutely blown to hell by the ENTIRE thing. I like how it stayed true to the original tale while still switching stuff up. I absolutely LOVED the casting and it fit surprisingly well. (I will get to Jacob Elordi in a sec)

The style had me FOAMING. Yo, when I say that shit was so beautiful... 🤧 costume design team did their big one fr. Elizabeth's wardrobe 😩

My favorite dress was the nightgown she wore when she first saw the creature.

Ughhh some somebody come get me before I jump i to this phone. The make up team...HOLY FUCK HOW IS THIS JACOB ELORDI?

The entire thing was just one big show of style. From the costumes to the sets...it just all seemed super personalized and creative. I loved the direction of the story and the introduction of the perspectives of The Creature and Frankenstein's story. The little title cards and starting where the other person left off....(chef's kiss)

The acting was incredible from all parties. Mia Goth couldn't have been a better actress for Elizabeth. She portrays the "caged bird" part very well with her little specks of wit. (Love Elizabeth. Literal queen)

Oscar Issac was absolutely beautiful as Victor Frankenstein; the character's transformation from being this crazed man searching for a way to, what seemed to me, find some type of closure with his father's brutality and his mother's death through finding a way to cheat death and create life, to becoming a very obviously arrogant and distasteful guy, to finally an aware and remorseful man.

NOW HER COMES THE BREAD AND BUTTER...JACOB MF ELORDI 😤

For one, I NEVER doubted his ability and range. I first saw Elordi in Kissing Booth, playing some fuckboy teenager in a romcom😭, and then to see him turn into a full-fledged psychopath (Nate Jacobs)....honey he had me SPENT. So, I accepted him to pull through and he DID?!!!.

Y'all wtf, he can really act with his eye man. Elordi perfectly captured the loneliness and longing of a creature thrown away at (a very fucked up) birth with just his eyes. There were so many times where I genuinely wanted to cry and hug him just by looking at the creature 😭😭 He plays the "innocent, helpless, and impulsive" role very well. It makes sense for his character because the creature is alone. The Creature has to raise himself, and so he learns like a child with no guidance- an abandoned child with no guidance, and he knows nothing of himself, so he's impulsive, immature, and chasing an identity.

And also when the creature starts to develop a character and mature, Elordi still manages to keep that longing for a companion image there, even through the creature's killer emo phrase. He still manages to keep that pain and sadness.

AND ON A LESS SERIOUS ANALYTICAL NOTE:

That goofy ass walk 😭😭 that some shit I didn't even think of, but it makes so much sense. The creature doesn't know how to walk properly, or even use his body properly. He was literally constructed in a laboratory and chained away immediately, so he's very likely to show a bit of a developmental deformity in his body language (I hope I'm using that right)

And ngl, that walk mixed with those diaper ass shorts had me cackling 😭😭

The reason why I didn't give it a 10/10 is that the creature remains alone at the end. Forgive me for not remembering if the creature remained alone or died in the original because it's been a while since I read it, but why couldn't they just added their twist to it?

Yeah, follow the story, but give the audience relief🙄 I was so stricken with sadness that I ended up writing a fan fiction where the creature found his family 😭😭
