--ooc► Hey, everyone. I know my activity has dropped a bunch and that this is very sudden, but I’m making this ooc post to say that my blog is going on an indefinite hiatus. I am at an extremely low point mentally. I don’t have the energy to keep up with a tumblr roleplay blog right now and honestly? I need help. And I’m going to be trying to get it. If anyone would like to continue roleplaying with me, however, I’d be more than happy to do so over discord. So, feel free to message me for it if we’re mutuals. I’ve loved my time as Yako more than I can express with words. Hopefully this isn’t the end of my blog; hopefully I’ll be back. And hopefully I’ll see you all then. <3
He regarded the human strolling at his side a moment as she continued forward, her head cast down in contemplation as she took precious time in considering her response. Neuro waited patiently as they continued down the street …and when it finally did come, her voice quiet with something else – something the tantei couldn’t quite identify, and therefore something he could only suspect to be entirely too h u m a n for him to have a hope of understanding.
Now that was a notion that sufficiently intrigued the demon, and the slight pause in his gait was a clean indication of as much. One’s mind sufficiently malfunctioning, betraying its owner like a backfiring tool? – by far, Neuro’s greatest tool was undoubtedly his mind. The idea that it could be possible for one’s greatest strength to essentially turn on them, to defect from its sole purpose of survival entirely and sabotage itself by destroying its own host …that actually served to sound a rather unsettling notion. It likely would send a shiver down any average demon’s spine – he wondered if it could be used as a scare tactic back in hell.
❝ …oh? ❞
He quipped as he resumed his step beside her, catching up the distance his momentary pause had left between them in only three long strides. She’d neglected to mention that part while briefing him on this case she’d uncovered.
❝ – And did that article happen to mention what she believes was the cause of death? ❞
The demon’s brief pause did not escape her notice; brown eyes flicked to the side for a split second, observing him closely. As usual, his face and body betrayed nothing, but it was still evident that he was considering what she’d said carefully. Which was no surprise, honestly. Yako knew that the idea of someone’s mind turning on them in such a way would stick out to him immediately. For good reason, too, since despite all the strength he possessed as a being from Hell, Neuro’s mind was still the most impressive thing about him--the tool that he relied on the most.
--So, how did that make him feel, she wondered?
While he, as a demon, would probably never experience the sort of mental illness that would lead to his brain acting in the way that a human’s would, the mere concept alone had been enough to give him pause. That was significant. Did it bring him any sort of unease? Curiosity? Did it weaken his opinion of humans, or do nothing to affect it at all? Though she considered herself quite capable at reading her partner, the subject matter was unexplored and unfamiliar territory. She likely would not be able to guess his thoughts and opinions unless he shared them with her himself.
The question he posed suddenly pulled her back to reality, and Yako blinked a few times before turning her head forward once more. Releasing one hand from its hold upon the files in her grasp, she brought it up to tap a finger against her chin in thought.
❝--Let’s see,❞ she said, blowing a stray strand of hair out of her face. ❝From what I can remember, none of the articles that I read seemed to care that much about her claims, and mentioned the fact that she didn’t believe his death to be a suicide more offhandedly than anything else. I don’t think anyone even asked her that many questions about what she thought had happened, since they weren’t taking her seriously. All I ever remember hearing is that she’ll never accept “suicide” as her husband’s cause of death, and that she thinks someone framed it appear that way.❞

On Thread Length
Some people use a lot of text when writing to show their muse’s mental state, some use it purely because their muse is talkative. But when things like that happen, some people stress over whether or not they should match length and it can be the reason some people have problems replying to things.
You do not need to match my length. My muses get lost in their heads/like to talk/just end up making me write a lot.
Write whatever you are comfortable with, because this is supposed to be fun and you should never be pressured to meet the length of your partner. Do what you want to, and hopefully by reblogging this, the mun of this blog will do the same.

ties her up and hangs her out the office window while she sleeps. cuts the rope halfway and leaves her dangling by a thread, swaying like a pendulum in the breeze for when she wakes up.
Honestly, the only reason she doesn’t scream when she wakes up is because she’s too disoriented at first to really get what’s happening. Neuro has tied her up and suspended her high into the air while she’s slept before, but it was usually from a nap or from dozing off. Waking up from a full eight hours of sleep that she’d started at home in her bed to a bird’s eye view of the street outside of their office is… confusing to the say the least.
She’s pretty sure she’s still dreaming, actually.
But then the breeze ruffles her hair and she feels the tightness of the rope almost ( but not quite ) cutting off circulation in her arms. Yako blinks. Blinks again, and nearly screams out in realization. Nearly–a last second clamping down of her mouth stops the noise from echoing through the air. She won’t give Neuro the satisfaction of hearing a full scream from her upon grasping her situation. No, he’s getting enough out of it already, the sadist. She will not give him that!
A snap above her draws her attention, and the so-called “detective” glances up as best she can to locate the source. And what she sees is, honestly, no surprise. But unfortunately, that doesn’t make it any less alarming. The rope is frayed and falling apart under her weight in an area that looks as though it had been deliberately cut most of the way through. Before she can stop it, a small burst of adrenaline shoots through her veins, fingers trembling ever-so-slightly at the sight before she closes her eyes and breathes.
The demon is definitely one to let the rope snap, he is even one to let her fall most of the way down, but he will not let her hit the pavement. He will not let her die. She knows that much for certain.
❝You better let me go home and change after this, Neuro!❞ she shouts, tilting her head back in the direction of the office, knowing full well that he can hear her through the glass. ❝I’m not gonna be solving any cases in my damn pajamas!❞

blackmailism:
Her response issued a wild grin from the quarterback – it was disturbing on a certain level, that while the rest of the team appeared entirely spent and exhausted from such an intense practice, Hiruma seemed to be just as thriving and lush with vitality as he had at the start of the session. He had an almost Spartan-level of energy, it seemed as he propped his cleat up on the bench beside the young detective and braced his elbow against his bent knee, leering over her with a sadistic glean.
❝ – yeah, you be sure to do that, fuckin’ piggy. ‘Cause startin’ tomorrow, yer gonna be promotin’ us at every interview, every news report, every friggin’ publicity opportunity ya get. ❞
Clearly he already had carefully laid plans for her, much to the obvious chagrin of his manager, whose expression had morphed into one of exasperation as she sighed behind him and simply shook her head. Quite obviously, she knew precisely where this was going, as she had seen it many times before, though she said nothing as the quarterback continued.
❝ – But not before you sit in one our scrimmage game tomorrow afternoon. ❞
It struck her as odd that despite having just finished an intense practice session with his team, Hiruma barely even seemed winded. Before she could think to stop herself, the “detective’s” eyes narrowed for a few moments as she gave him a one over. Really, she was trying as hard as she could to not jump to conclusions, but there was so much piling up and pushing her towards believing he might not be human. But perhaps after spending so much time with a demon she was simply making connections that weren’t there. After all, she’d seen incredible humans as well.
--Then again, ‘Deimon Devil Bats’ and ‘Commander from Hell’ was just about as subtle as the ‘Katsuragi Yako Demon Detective Agency’.
Closing her eyes and taking a slow breath, she forced her mind to focus on the matter at hand. Speculation and conspiracy theories about the quarterback’s lineage could come later; what she needed to be thinking about was when the next opportunity to be interviewed could possibly be.
Despite being fairly popular in the tabloids and news, she wasn’t offered publicity opportunities as often as some might think. Neuro likely would have jumped on every single one in order to grow her fame, but over the course of time she’d been working with him, she’d only had a handful of television appearances or interviews. But, maybe if they had some luck, a case in the near future would be notable enough for her get something. Besides, if push came to shove, she supposed she could always utilize the fans that she had. She tended to stay away somewhat distant besides signing autographs when asked, but maybe being a little more interactive could be a way to promote the team as well.
❝--I’m not entirely sure when the next opportunity will be, if I’m being honest. But if I don’t get any offers for interviews after some cases in the near future, I might be able to work something else out,❞ Yako explained before pausing and raising an eyebrow at him. ❝And you... want me at a scrimmage game tomorrow? Why would--oh. So people will... see me there rooting for you? Is that it?❞
lets a demon tool snake monster loose in her bathtub
After the long day that she’s had, she wants nothing more than to collapse on the floor the second she steps inside her apartment. They had somehow managed to work three cases in the short span of nine hours–three! She supposes that even a demon such as Neuro is allowed to be graced with outrageous luck from time to time. And while she’s happy her partner got three puzzles out of it, that doesn’t change the fact that she’s wiped.
Kicking off her shoes, Yako steps up from the entryway and wastes no time in plopping her purse unceremoniously upon her counter. Then, she makes a beeline for the bath, already unbuttoning her shirt and tossing it into her room on her way. As much as she wants to just fall onto her bed and give in to sleep, she knows a soak in her tub will do her aching muscles good. She pushes the door open and flicks on the light before reaching down to fiddle with her skirt’s zipper.
Though, she is brought to a sudden grinding halt when she glances up and sees what awaits her.
The bath is already full to the brim with water. Which, under normal circumstances, wouldn’t exactly be a problem. But there’s something swimming in it as well. It almost looks to be a snake, but she knows demon handiwork when she sees it. It’s some sort of monstrosity that resembles a snake, but has maybe three heads and jagged blades sticking out of it at odd angles. Not to mention whatever is dripping from its mouth is turning the water a horrible shade of green. Lovely.
Had the fabric not been still hanging half-way on her hips, she’s certain she would have let out a frustrated shout and thrown her skirt at the creature in irritation. Though, such action likely would have just made things worse, in all honesty. So, Yako settles for slamming her bathroom door shut as hard as she can, not even flinching when loud sounds of splashing and an otherworldly screech follow from the other side. Storming back out into her kitchen, she digs her phone out of her purse and speed dials Neuro.
❝Of all places, why the tub?❞ she asks once she hears him pick up, not even letting him get a word out. ❝I bathe there, you jackass.❞
–She’s a little too tired to care that he’ll probably tie her up for that.
❝I’m from the 79th Dimension of Null Time. Obviously.❞

fills her shoes with tacks
She’s preoccupied, running on autopilot while she checks her phone before hurrying out the door. Stepping down into her entry way, Yako kicks off her slippers, not even bothering to put them back in their proper place. Her day’s going to be busy; she can already tell. There’s two tests she has to take, not to mention a project she needs to finish. And on top of that, she can’t forget about anything that Neuro may have plans for–!
Sharp pain stabs into her foot when she tries to slip into her loafers. Letting out a yelp of surprise, she tumbles backwards into the wall, dropping her phone to the ground and knocking her head in the process. Glancing down, her brows tighten even further at the sight of tacks stuck in her socks and spilling out of her shoe.
❝What? Tacks? How did…?❞ she wonders, sliding down the wall and rubbing her head. Then it hits her. ❝Neuro! Seriously?! Tacks in my shoes?! What are you, five years old?!❞
