Zebra Cab. A Zebra pulling a Hackney in Brixton 1915. I have no idea what the story is behind this. I’m thinking it’s because many horses were requisitioned for the war effort. Or more Likely some kind of a publicity stunt.

This is likely to be something to do with Lord Walter Rothschild (1868 - 1937), of the well known banking dynasty. From a young age he had a passion for wild animals. He established his private zoological museum at Tring, Hertfordshire in 1892.

As a wager, Walter Rothschild set out to prove that Zebras could be trained like horses. To help in his quest, he recruited the assistance of a horse trainer based in South Kensington, London.

c. 1904 Walter won his bet when he drove a carriage pulled by six zebras through London to Buckingham Palace.

2021: A slight miscommunication between then Crown Princess Mary of Denmark and her eldest daughter Princess Isabella about the logistics during a photo opportunity at (then) Prince Christian's confirmation on 15 May resulted in a now infamous hot mic moment where 14-year old Isabella in true teenage fashion was overheard asking her mum if she had "completely lost the plot" (Danish: "er du helt væk?").

2025: After some silly season half-hearted pearl clutching in the press over Princess Isabella's choice of attire (a band licensed t-shirt bearing the words "banged him yesterday") during a concert with the Danish rap group Suspekt over the summer, Queen Mary finally got to retort at her now 18-year-old daughter when asked about the incident during the Regent Couple's annual summer tour aboard Dannebrog on 28 August.
