After Effects Heat Effect Tutorial
I want to add this effect to the edges of the screen of the scenes that have fire in them, especially scene 11. Since it’s mostly empty, I want to add effects to bring the atmosphere alive.

Heat Wave Distortion Effect - After Effects Tutorial
Import file into the new comp
Right Click → new adjustment layer
Effect → Distort → Turbulent Displace
Keyframes for: amount, size, evolution
~Go to where you want in your timeline for the effect to begin
-key frame 0, then to where you want it to go row to, set it Amount to 25 (right click → easy ease in)
-go to end of comp, create a key frame for size (35) + evolution (6)
[Evolution - acting like a displacement map - animates the effect - creating the movement inside the effect]
-go to middle keyframe, set Size to 25 (easy ease in)
-[effects control] change complexity (2 or 4)
-[Effects and Presets] (right panel) → search for vector blur → drag onto adjustment layer
-[effect panel] under vector blur - drag amount to 10 - helps soften edges of the effect
-if edges of screen revealed:
-[Effects and Presets] - search Motion Tile → drag motion tile onto adjustment layer → [in effects panel] drag it on top of the other effects → output width + output height: drag them out and it should hide the edges → check mirror edges block
-line play head to where you want the animation to flow → [in effects panel/under vector blur] set a keyframe for amount, 10 → drag play line to where you dont want any effect (part where you set the other keyframes at 0) → and set the keyframe to 0
// adjust parameters throughout
-draw mask around selected area
-invert (?) -go to mask layer, drop down → mask feather
