Lesbian mermaid storyboard animatic! based on Amphitrite by KL Knapp

story description below the cut

The short story is about miniature submarine captain on the run from those who would steal the innovative submarine she designed all on her own. In this world where man-eating mermaids are a known entity, when the captain runs in to one, the two women make a deal in which the mermaid will help her evade the people trying to steal her homemade submarine in exchange for getting to drive the beautiful machine.

Soon enough, the captain's pursuers catch up to them, and the mermaid fulfills her promise, using her siren song to lure the enemy submarine to its destruction in the depths. The captain goes to leave, assuming they are parting ways now that their deal has been fulfilled and the mermaid has a submarine full of men to eat, but instead the mermaid returns, and they sail off together.

I noticed something that for some reason hadn’t dawned on me when watching the empty suit[...]

The Earth was gone.

[...]Where the Earth should have been, there was empty, dark space. I must have watched for hours waiting to see the sun[...]

It wasn’t completely empty out there. Far off in the distance I could still see stars twinkling. Probably long dead, but I knew that there was nothing they could do to save me.
