This blog is the documentation of my time spent in South Africa and Zambia working with big cats. Working with animals has always been my passion, something that was instilled in me by my upbringing and, surprisingly, the Disney movie Pocahontas. Yes, the film was created as entertainment for children but what I learned from Pocahontas was that all creatures have a voice, you just need to take the time to listen. Follow me as I embark on the next chapter in my life after college, doing what I love most!

Just a Brief Life Update

It is official, I am now a published blogger!! Check out my article on the top 8 things to do while in Livingstone, Zambia.

In other news, life goes on. I have taken the GRE and will begin looking into graduate school programs to start in Fall of 2016. I am now working part time for Geosyntec, an environmental engineering firm, and enjoying it. I am not working directly with wildlife but I am improving my excel and powerpoint skills, which is always a plus! Since I only work 3 days a week, I am looking to get involved in some volunteer work with wildlife. Ideally, I'll find something in the urban wildlife sector.

I am currently on the hunt for a more permanent wildlife related position. The plan is to find a job and be able to start come September 2015 after my...UK TOUR!!

I have booked my flights and am in the process of figuring out how I am going to see everything on my list in the designated amount of time. It will be tough but I think I can do it :) I'll hopefully be doing another blog post for Pink Pangea about my travels so keep an eye out for that!

With conservation, you win battles, but not the war. You don't get to say "I've succeeded, time to go home." You're in it for life, and all you can do is do your best, and hand it over to the next generation.

It's hard to say goodbye but even harder when it happens unexpectedly. I will miss your cute grumpy self but most of all I'll miss getting to watch you grow up. Tunya, you were a special lion and anyone who met you knew it. Yesterday was very hard but I am better knowing you are no longer in pain. Sending love and support to all my friends at LE. Hope there's lots of elephant poo toys waiting for you in lion heaven ❤️
