A social science literature review focusing on the question of how media, and communications more broadly, affect outcomes for black men and boys in American society.
“I’m so pretty”
Recently Childish Gambino dropped his new single along with a new video about America. When we look at hip hop today the argument is about the message rappers are supposed to give along with the quality lyrics. Childish Gambino doesn’t exhibit lyrical message but shows a visual one. He incorporates African culture, police depiction of lack people, and etc. He gets praise because he’s a unique artist that follows his heart and expresses his work vividly.
We really gotta work 100x harder to achieve the same goals huh
Why Do the Dutch Do Blackface for Christmas? | MTV Decoded
When Christmas comes around you can usually expect to see Santa, his reindeer and helpful elves everywhere. But Dutch Santa doesn’t have elves…he has “Black Pete” or “Zwarte Pete.” Pete first showed up in the 1850 Dutch book “Saint Nicholas and his servant.” The story claims “Black Pete” is black because of the chimney soot, but that doesn’t explain his afro textured hair, or large bright red lips….all familiar racist black caricatures. Today, Black Pete is still a huge tradition in the Netherlands. So what’s the deal? Why is this racist character still celebrated?
If this ain’t some racist bullshit…
Notice the aged black caricature the illustrator used..he also painted Naomi significantly whiter and slender…Naomi is a half Asian/half Haitian woman! What the actual fuck. The mans job needs to be taken. I’m so pissed 😤
This mans name is Mark Knight…boycott the shit out of his art and his small mind. @knightcartoons
Cryptid of the Day: Guije
Description: An elf like creature seen in Eastern Cuba, they are described as being three feet tall, dark haired, and having an oversized head. The legend has taken a darker turn in the 20th century, being used as a racist caricature of black people.
