Recently rewatched this show after finding out Netflix is deciding to remove it. Glimmer was a character that always was so strong and spoke to me personally. So I’m redrawing a piece from 2021!!

I’m really happy to see how much improvement I’ve made. This show is so incredibly dear in my heart, and I hope somehow it still lives on. And if there’s even the slightest chance for a continuation, I pray it’ll come one day. Thank you ND Stevenson ♥️

I really wanted to talk about that little panic attack Glimmer has on the Horde Prime’s ship when she has to go back there on their mission to save Catra. This is such a small blink-and-you-miss-it kind of scene, especially since it’s followed by Bow checking if she’s okay and her teasingly asking if he was worried and generally overshadowed by everything that’s happening around them, but it’s there. Even if it’s just for a few seconds.

She’s completely alone in a place where she was trapped for who knows how long and she has to navigate her way through the empty corridors, trying to find the cell she was being kept in by an evil dictator who didn’t waste any chance to prove her just how helpless she is and how he’s going to destroy everything she tried to protect.

You can see on her face just how anxious she feels. It’s even there in the subtitles! There’s also the fact that she’s breathing in an erratic way, which is probably why Bow eventually decides to check on her since he’s able to hear her.

She’s even sweating a little and you can tell from her expression just how scared she is. I am actually surprised we didn’t get an actual flashback to her imprisonment here, but we didn’t really need one, not when her face and her reaction tell us everything we need to know.

When Bow calls her name she turns back quickly with a loud gasp as if convinced that she’s just been caught, aware that if that was true then she’ll be dragged back to that cell and thrown there for good with no Catra to save her this time.

For a second there, she looks completely terrified.

I don’t think we’ve ever seen her like this. We’ve seen her worried and scared and distressed, but never like this. You can really tell just how much this experience traumatized her.

And this is Glimmer we are talking about!

We saw her sneaking in and out so many times before, this is literally one of the first things we see her do on the show - sneak out to go on a mission with Bow! She was always the first person to rush into a fight, often very carelessly, never afraid to take action. And here she is with a relatively easy mission and she’s panicking.
