Bush Fire

A subset of the Seed Pod Blob earring series. These black neutral pieces emulate the shapes and textures of the Seed Pod Blob - but with un unforgiving scorched exterior.

The days after the fire is gone, and the rains clean the ash away, only the raw materials of the bush remain. Despite their blackened visage they are made with movement and life, to express the plant that germinating within. This “Bush Fire” series is understated and bold

PERSONALISED DOGGO

I'm offering custom creations to mimic your best friend and baby. In the photos, you can see my friends baby (the white west scotch terrier) Nessie, my brother's baby (the black groodle) Duke and my baby (the ginger poodle) Rosey.  If you need one of your own beloved pets made, please order and send a picture for me to model.

THIS IS AUSTRALIA - SEED BLOB 7

Seed Pod Blob 7 is a translation of the bush around us.  The baroque shape of these earrings provide a flowing surface for the colours to poor across, representing the germination and growth of native flora. 

As you will see from my website - my name is Kate and I am very close to becoming an Architect.  But I also enjoy working with my hands and playing with different media.  So I have set up this page to help me "break even" and financially support my passion.

All my products are handmade with quality materials, plenty of experimentation and equal parts love and frustration.  I want the help of Australia to support my art, everyone is welcome to become my patron. 

I will never make my fortune from this scale of design but I can try and break even.  I am offering generously priced handcrafted items with postage included within Australia.  Yes, for Australian's the price you see is it, in total, no more.  

How do I provide such value - well at the moment, my time is worth literally nothing.  The price covers postage and material costs only.

My current plans for the next collection is to do a series of lino prints.  Naturally, for this, I need lino, ink and tools.  Each sale goes towards the commencement of the new collection.

This collection is based on 1980's Australiana design - typically bold knit jumpers. The "this is Australia" series focuses on statement pieces to draw attention with a uniquely Australian feel, colour and pattern.

SHAPES OF AMSTERDAM

Set of 3 prints that have been developed from sketches while travelling. These are a limited print set of ten.  Upon request, I can make personalised notes on the reverse.  In the past, I have used these for thank you notes, postcards and wall art.  ("Ning Nang Nong" fridge magnets not included.)

 Morroco prints soon to come, with plans in my mind for rural Victorian scenes.

MINIMA - PEPPER (a disappointed lover)

Pepper was created to be a companion for Ferdinand (who is, of course, a bull).  Unfortunately, not long after her creation, Ferdinand was at work with me, a beautiful French woman asked to see him and unfortunately he was dropped, crushed under her shoe and is no more.  Naturally Pepper's disapointment can not be measured.  She is now ready for a new life in a new part of the world.  With a new chance at love.  Pepper is a pin like all the creatures in the Minima Collection.

HELP ME - TURTLE

From the picture, you may not be able to see - but this little guy is actually the cutest thing in the world.  The Help Me Turtle pin in a fun piece of play.  It's the bridge between the two animal collections "Ning Nang Nong" and "Minima".  It's a far more elaborate design but I think you can feel the pleasure I had in making it.

Swirling Plate - 2 (set of 3)

This is a set of 3 clay plates.  With these pieces I was playing around with colour changes over a wider area - to really see the tone and playfulness of the material. The shape itself is round and playful, flowing organically.  I have used this design as coasters, plant saucers and jewellery displays.
