My Capstone 2018 - Br@nson

My final diary writing. I am sad to say that capstone is officially over and so is my time at Branson. My experience and life these past four years has been transformative and an amazing experience. The capstone period was a wonderful time for me to go out and do the things I didn’t have the chance to do while @ Branson. It was a time for me to reflect on the past four years, take a breathe, and live life. It was a moment for me in which I finally understood the privilege that comes with going to a place like Branson and the moment in which I was the most grateful for the people and experiences I had here. It was also a time in which I had the opportunity to intern at a beautiful beauty salon with a bunch of super cool women. I had the chance to see what running a business is like, worked on some projects, learned to clean brushes and explored the city. I found tons of delicious places to eat and though my wallet suffered, I would do it all again. The internship overall led me to understand that working in a business is something I could potentially do in my future as I now know I am interested in such work. I also had the time to go on a hikes and simply read. I genuinely love reading and am obsessed with Harry Potter so I was super glad I had the chance to do that as well. In all, this capstone has allowed me to pause and do the things I love. I have had time to rest, take a break from constant work and enjoy life. Life is moving extremely quickly and for once, I was able to sit in bed, watch tv and not have to worry about my paper due the next morning. I had time to go on adventures, hang out with friends, go swimming and rest on the beach. Though I do wish I had read more than I did, I am grateful for the time that I was able to sit down and dive deep into a world of wizards. I also wish I had gone on more hikes (as I failed to go on my Alamere falls and Dipsea trail hikes), but believe that the rest of adventures and outings I went on with friends made up for that. This was truly such an amazing experience.

Today was my last day @ Facewest :(( Keila and I went in pretty early to finish up report of survey results and present them. We had some lunch and gave our final goodbyes :(

Today I went to muir beach, followed by a beautiful hike with my friend Eli :)

Today I decided to have a small adventure and went to the beach with my friends. I also went on a hike in the afternoon @ Tam to catch the sunset with Elli :)

Today I came to FaceWest and worked on finalizing a survey that would allow FW to understand their customers and their needs. We focused the study on girls ages 15-18 @ Branson.

5/22/18

Today I woke up at 5 am to catch the sunrise. We took a ranger up to a mountain and all waited for the sun to come up. We then drove back to the ranch and ate some breakfast. After that we drove up to a small creek where we all talked and read (I read some more the hate u give) for a couple hours. We then drove back to the ranch, got some lunch and started cleaning up. We got ready to head out and the drive home began again :) We got to Branson around 2 and I ended my day with the baseball game and some snacks.

5/21/18

I did a lot today and when I say a lot, I mean it. We woke up early around 8 am to get ready to ride horses. I had never rode a horse previous to this so I was extremely excited. After riding horses, we came back to the ranch to let the second group of girls ride the horses (there were too many of us so we had to go on rides separately) and ended up taking one of the rangers out for a drive. We visited some super cool sand dunes and a couple ponds (Allison, Emma, Paulina and I). We also took a bunch of cool photos and got smacked in the face by a couple bugs hehe. After that we came to the ranch to prepare some lunch for our next trip. We drove over to a beautiful waterfall where we swam and tanned. After that we drove over to a beautiful reservoir where we kayaked, paddle boarded, swam, ate more food and saw some snapping turtles. It was all super cool. We got back to the ranch around 6 and made some dinner and then drove to some pretty mountain for the sunset. We came back and had a campfire and ate some smores :)) Wrapped it up and went to bed - except paulina and I spent an hour trying to kill a mosquito and we succeeded!! But she still woke up with bites lol.

5/20/18

Today I drove to Grace Daily’s Ranch in StonyFord California. I drove two people and it took about 3 hours to get there. The ride consisted of sing alongs to old throw back songs and eating wraps, going fast on a deserted freeway and playing games with the rest of the girls once we got there. I’m about to go to bed, but I wanted to say that surprisingly I am not tired from the drive. Byeeee

5/18/18

Today was different in that I didn’t go to FaceWest. Instead, I came to school for my SDLC presentation and thought it went great. I got a bunch of positive feedback for my speech and the others work as well. I then grabbed some lunch and went out onto the field to read. This time I did not read Harry Potter, but instead read “the hate you give.” :)

5/17/18

Today I woke up early to make a delicious smoothie and then got ready to go into the city. I met up with Keila at 10:45 and walked over to the SR transit center to take the 101 to the city. Once we got to FaceWest we worked on stocking some inventory and did some extra work in the backroom. The day was overall pretty slow, but I was still exhausted when I got home in the afternoon. Oh also, I got my car back and it’s fixed so yay!

5/16/18

Today I did not go to the city or to Branson because I am offically car-less. Someone backed into my car a couple weeks ago, so I dropped my car off at the mechanic to get it fixed. However, I did take a walk around the bay and found myself in a position of mindfulness. The walk allowed me to really reflect on my time at Branson and my time left as a child. I have come to realize that my biggest fear is growing up and Branson has been such a significant part of that. I never would have guessed that I would have come to meet so many amazing people and have formed bonds with adults and students that I will cherish forever. My best friends come from this place I once use to despise and I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to be part of such a wonderful experience. Apart from my two hour walk, I spent the rest of my day researching for FaceWest (outside work), watching tv and read another chapter of Harry Potter! :)
