The end of KANA-BOON To Go

I am going to make this quick and easy:

I am writing this to inform you all that I will stop all activities on the Twitter and Tumblr pages as well as on the YouTube channel.

There are several reasons why I made this decision, which I would like to explain.

When I started my KBTG Tumblr blog several years ago, the landscape of Japanese music was different compared to today. Finding and listening to KANA-BOON’s music was very difficult for everyone outside Japan, so I wanted to create a place where foreigners could listen to this amazing band. Nowadays, I feel like my activities are not really needed anymore as KANA-BOON’s music is now accessible on Spotify, YouTube and others.

Another reason why I will stop my activities is because I simply do not have the time. I am in college right now and it is way too time-consuming to continue the blogs and channel. If you ever wondered why I was not very active in last couple months – this is why.

Lastly, I would like to take the opportunity and thank you all. Thank you for interacting with me. It made me feel like I am not alone with my love for KANA-BOON.

Thank you for supporting KANA-BOON. They really deserve it. I hope you will continue doing that by buying their music or merchandise.

Meshida is leaving KANA-BOON

KANA-BOON just announced that our beloved bassist Meshida is leaving the band for mental health reasons.

I feel crushed, but there are more important things in life and mental health is definitely one of them.

What's your favorite album and why? Mine is Time :)

TIME is my favorite album as well. The songs are beyond great and well mixed. And the songs effortlessly flow into each other like with the transition from Ai ni Mamirette to Silhouette. This album just feels like a journey.

Why Kana Boon never even had a concert outside japan?

I honestly don't know why they don't go overseas more often. They have been to Taiwan and Hong Kong tho

Klaxon is a great song imo. KB songs that I dislike? Anatman, Wonder Song, Penguin, etc.

In Japan: fairly big, in the rest of the world: not so much (but it’s growing & songs like Silhouette are definitely helpful)

Hello, Do you know any infos about the live bassist currently playing for the band as Meshida's replacement ?

KANA-BOON’s temporary bassist is Scenarioart’s Takahisa Yamashita (for now). They have known each other for quite some time. KANA-BOON & Scenarioart released the split single talking / Nana Hitsuji in 2015.

Heeeeeey, I know we are all dying after that episode, but it got me inspired to translate the full version of this song since it sounds so hopeful. I offer it to you as a balm. Do take this with a grain of salt, since I’m not yet fluent in Japanese.

The band released a statement on their website and here is the gist of it:

They feel sorry for worrying everyone and canceling their performance, which should have been held on June 15th.

Fans have felt uneasy about the promotion of their latest single Massara including the release of a music video for which they apologize, but they all worked on in together and felt it should be promoted.

The day before he went missing, the band members talked about several things including their future, which makes the other members think that something could have happened to Meshida (this part is implied; it sounds like they don’t think that Meshida ran off).

They are all worried and praying for Meshida’s return and want everyone to stay positive. They believe he will return without harm and will continue to perform for upcoming concerts in the future.

KANA-BOON’s bassist Meshida missing

Dear KANA-BOON fans, today we received terrible news. Our beloved bassist Meshida has been missing since June 5th.

The other band members have been trying to contact him - without success. The police is already investigating. Let's all hope he's safe.
