At this point I was starting to get more accustomed to Eliza’s design.

Some types of unicorns and other critters.

Unicorns are rare and revered in Ethuin. While they are occasionally captured and used as mounts, this is ultimately a cruel practice. Not only are they not a domesticated animal, and thus being in proximity with people can be stressful for them if their natural environment is not replicated, their bodies are also not well-suited for repeated riding. Regularly ridden unicorns are susceptible to spinal and joint issues.

Some more critters from Ethuin.

1. Cemu (pronounced See-moo) - These are considered “cattle” in the world of Ethuin. They are raised for meat and milk, but are slow and stubborn so they are not often ridden.

2. Hueque (pronounced Weh-kay, though in some regions they are pronounced Way-kay) - These are popular amongst vaqueros due to their hardiness, longevity, and sure-footedness. They are a relatively cheap animal and thus are not the most fashionable, but a good hueque is loyal to the end and will carry you to the ends of the earth.

3. Hoguana - Raised for their meat. It’s literally just a pig combined with an iguana, lol.

4. Hippogriff - One of the most popular ridden and driving animals in Ethuin. There are a variety of breeds and colors, with the flashier breeds being considered highly fashionable to own. Most breeds can fly for a limited amount of time with a person on their back, just like how a horse can only canter/gallop for a limited amount of time.

He has the ability to see through the eyes of his bird, Rex. His eyes glow when he does this. Red, his hueque, is in the background.

Pards.

In Ethuin, the world in which The Beast of Purple Sage takes place, there are a wide variety of creatures that serve as mounts and beast of burden. The pard is a feline that resembles the cross between a smilidon and a cheetah. The result is a strong and fast creature that can carry the weight of an adult. That being said, they have to be housed away from prey species so they are rarely found within cities. They are relatively more common on the frontier, where they don’t have to be confined to stables with hippogriffs, hueques, and donkeys.
