How could you tell if you sprained your ACL or torn it? I can walk with my right knee, with slight discomfort. However it's been like that since April 26 2016. When I tried doing light excercises, my knee wouldvgive out, leaving me to cry in pain.
The best indicator for a torn acl or meniscus (or further knee injuries more severe than a sprain) is being able to have full flexion and full extension with very minimal to no discomfort. For flexion bend the knee that isn't injured as far as it can go while sitting on the ground, then try to bend the injured knee to the same spot. If pain is intense you may have a severe injury. For extension sit on the ground with both logs stretched out. Then activate your quad muscle in the uninjured knee so that the back of your knee touched the floor with no gaps. Your foot will be elevated slightly. Try to do the same with the injured knee, if very painful there may be a bigger issue. Range of motion is usually a big indicator to how severe and injury is. I recommend going to a doctor and getting an MRI cause you'll never really know what is going on in there and shouldn't risk the possibility of furthering an existing minor injury. I hope this is helpful! Remember to ice constantly, even if you think it feels better, it will help! And also listen to your body, don't push yourself when you're in pain, it only does more damage. Keep moving forward and if you have any other questions feel free to ask!
