2019 coming in clutch trying to redeem the decadeÂ
to everyone who says itâs not permanent: not with THAT attitude.Â
with your help, we can work together and drive pewdiepie away from all technology.Â
feeling cute today. might commit acts of hubris
But, soft! what light through yonder window breaks? It is the east, and
this was the funniest tag the rest of you can go home
Iâm going to defeat you with the power of friendship and this gun I found
maybe the real treasure was this gun i found along the way
I too want a bunch of tiny bowls to hold spices in while im cooking but whoâs gonna wash themâŠ.not I
Iâm sorry, sheâs got a purple feather from her last press interview.
Maybe âTo All The Boys Iâve Loved Beforeâ is âââheteronormativeâââ but itâs about healthy relationships, stars an Asian lead and an all Asian family (except the dad,) has a loving single dad, and even tho thereâs another female rival she doesnât put the other girl down by calling her a skank.
We need more movies with gay leads but young girls who are gonna date boys need to see healthy examples so Iâll happily watch it multiple times and read the books. Good job Netflix and Jenny Han.
also white gays calling movies with poc leads ânormativeâ is really unhelpful
Just because itâs not queer doesnât mean itâs not providing representation for another marginalised demographic.
in many ways tumblr is truly garbage but the fact that your follower count is not public and thereâs no way to become âverifiedâ is so sexy
today i discovered the john mulaney bot twitter and it surpassed expectations
u could have told me thede were real John Mulaney tweets and i would have believed every word
I feel like itâs time we talked about how there is no such thing as universal accessibility. One space cannot be accessible for every single person. And I donât say that to suggest that we just shouldnât try making spaces as accessible as possible, but rather to say how important it is that we have multiple, different spaces.
A place that is well-lit and has lots of natural light will help many visually impaired people, but it will be a nightmare for anyone with photo-sensitivity. A small, dimly lit, quiet space might be ideal for somebody with sensory overload, but not for somebody with claustrophobia. A solarpunk utopia where the cities are filled with plants and trees and green might massively help the populationâs depression and general spirits, but it would be hell for anyone with autoimmune disorders and allergies.
At the LGBTQ+ Christian group I go to, there are some really flamboyant, loud, and excitable extroverts there, who love to sing their hearts out and clap and dance during worship. There are also people who have sensory issues and anxiety exacerbated by loud noise. It cannot be a safe-space for everyone to express themselves freely, if itâs also a safe space for those with anxiety.
In a learning environment, one child with ADHD may need to bounce their leg or fidget with something in order to concentrate, while another autistic child finds that incredibly distracting and makes them anxious.
A small, tight, cosy space thatâs reminiscent of a village pub or small cottage might be ideal for making me feel comfortable, sheltered and reducing my anxiety and social exhaustion, but it wouldnât be very accessible for a wheelchair user or someone with physical mobility issues. I am both of those people.
Nobody is doing anything wrong, nobody is being victimised by another person, thereâs no right and wrong in these situations. Itâs just that those people have opposing needs that canât be accommodated in the same space at the same time. And we need to talk about that.
Whatâs important is that we create different spaces to cater to a multitude of needs, and that we listen to peopleâs needs. Most importantly we need to look at which groups of people and which needs are often ignored, and which people have very little access to spaces.
