ART TASK #4 MAKE SOMETHING THAT REPRESENTS HOW YOU FEEL ABOUT THE ‘NEW NORMAL’
Firstly can I apologise for being away for so long! I was feeling a bit disconnected from everything so needed to take a bit of time for myself! Anyway I’m back now with a new task (and they will be more frequent from now on I promise!) make anything using anything that represents how you feel about the ‘new normal’. It could be an object, a sign, a word on a post it, an expression, a photo, a video, a poem or a place. It’s entirely up to you! I’ll post the video above that explains it too :)
ART TASK #3 SEND YOURSELF A MESSAGE
This one is from the lovely Miss Ross. She wants you to send yourself a message to look at in 6 months time. Think about how you have felt during our current situation and what you would like to tell yourself in the future. This can be in any form, for example a video, a letter, a painting, a postcard, a video, a message in a bottle, a diary, a play, a time capsule...the possibilities are endless. See the video above for more info :) Please email your responses to [email protected] Enjoy, get involved, stay connected and keep the ball rolling!
Here’s James talking about his task :)
ART TASK #2 HAVE A CONVERSATION
This task is from one of the fabulous Art Technicians at Rugby Free Secondary School, Mr James Alabaster. He wants you to have a conversation with an inanimate object. You can talk about whatever you want. Film it and email it to [email protected] I’ll post the link to the video which explains more above :)
We decided that some of you might rather watch videos of the tasks than read them so here you go :)
ART TASK #1 TAKE A PHOTO
Hello!Â
It is me. Becca Callaghan, or Miss Callaghan to my students. I work at Rugby Free Secondary School as an Art Teacher. I actually started this project a good few years ago back when I was doing my teacher training. The theme was a little bit different then, but I thought it would be an amazing way for us all to collaborate at the moment, so I gave it a revamp and here we are :)
Anyway, enough about me! Your first task is this:
I would like you to take a photo of an object that represents your day in lock down. I want you to do this everyday for the duration of the project. If you forget a day don’t worry. Send them to me in a folder every week, or if you want to save them up and send them in one go you can do too! Email them (with keep the ball rolling as the subject) to [email protected]
#KEEP THE BALL ROLLING
I’m not the best poster maker in the world but here it is. With all the information you need :) WE HAVE A NEW EMAIL ADDRESS NOW, PLEASE SEND ALL FUTURE SUBMISSIONS TO THIS! [email protected]
Reminders of tasks will be posted on Rugby Free Secondary Schools Art Instagram page too. Follow us :)Â
Here is the link to The Rugby Art Gallery and Museum’s Social History project which they would love you to get involved with too!
OUR PARTNERSHIPS
We are very excited be collaborating on this project with the Rugby Art Gallery and Museum. The lovely people there have also asked me to post the link to their social history project, in case anyone would like to get involved with that too. Please see link above :)
HOW WILL IT WORK?
1. The ‘Art’ In this project is the collaboration of individuals and how we respond to and interpret the same tasks, so not all tasks will be typically ‘Art’ themed. Some will be written, some might have a sports theme, some might be musical etc.
2. Tasks will be set weekly, however some may require you to do something daily, for example, ‘Photograph an object that has represented your day in lock down and do this everyday until the project ends’.
3. Tasks will initially be set by staff across a network of schools in Rugby, however as the project develops, artists will be asked to submit ideas and we will also invite you to submit your own tasks for consideration too.Â
4. All tasks will be posted on KEEP-THE-BALL-ROLLING.TUMBLR.COM and also on Rugby Free Secondary School’s Art Instagram account RFSS_ART_DEPARTMENT. We also have a YouTube channel now too, so video versions of the tasks will be posted there for you to watch!
5. Submissions will be shared weekly on this website and the most interesting outcomes will also be featured on The Rugby Art Gallery and Museums Floor One online gallery
6. All work should be submitted to [email protected]
ENJOY, GET INVOLVED, STAY CONNECTED AND...KEEP THE BALL ROLLING. Â
