Books With Little/No Romance - Recommendations
Earlier, I asked you guys for recommendations on books that don’t particularly feature romance or romance is only a minor element of the story. I thought that I’d share your recommendations and contribute a few of my own for the people also interested in a post that’s easier for us to view. Obviously these books will differ in how they handle romance, but generally it’s not a very prominent theme.

Have nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful.
William Morris (1868)
What pricks me is the discovery of this equivalence. In front of the photograph of my mother as a child, I tell myself: She is going to die: I shudder… over a catastrophe which has already occurred. Whether or not the subject is already dead, every photograph is this catastrophe.”
― Roland Barthes, Camera Lucida: Reflections on Photography
Love cannot be reduced to a catalogue of reasons why, and a catalogue of reasons cannot be put together into love.
Eleanor Catton, The Luminaries (via collectinqwords)
In his life so far he had only known the kind of doubt that is calculated and secure. He had known only suspicion, cynicism, probability - never the fearful unraveling that comes when one ceases to trust in one's own trusting power; never the dread panic that follows this unraveling; never the dull void that follows last of all.
The Luminaries by Eleanor Catton
Humans are the worst.
Heartache is not wanting to be alive but not wanting to die and leave him alone in a world without you, without a chance.
