Grant Gustin Reacts To Justice League’s New Flash Costume

We had the opportunity to speak with Gustin during San Diego Comic-Con 2016, not long after the official art debuted – before he had gotten a chance to see it himself, it turns out. Asking how he felt it measured up to his own costume, Gustin voiced nothing but optimism as a fan of the characters, above all else:

Oh sick, I haven’t seen it [is handed phone displaying Justice League image]… They’re completely different. Yeah, I mean I was kind of expecting this, I heard it was going to be kind of like Injustice. I hadn’t seen this yet, what else is out. Sorry I’m scrolling through the whole thing, I haven’t seen this picture. Yeah, that’s sick. Um… yeah, it’s sick. I’m glad it’s really different though [laughs]. Because ours is like a street, vintage feel that I don’t think has been done in any other version of the character.

What do you relate to most in Rey as a character? Her hopefulness. I think that was something driving me through the auditions — even though it felt so insanely out of anything that I could’ve imagined, there was something inside of me that was telling me that I could do it, even though I was riddled with doubts and insecurities. So probably that. She’s much more hopeful than I am, and much braver than I am. For a woman who had been alone for such a long time to be so open to what’s going on, and letting journeys happen, and letting relationships happen, I think is really incredible.

Kevin Feige Discusses Why Brie Larson Is Perfect For CAPTAIN MARVEL

“The first casting choice as our own studio was Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark,” Feige says. “We set a bar that was very very high. Every time we bring somebody, whether or not it’s a co-starring role, certainly if it’s a starring role, we need to match that bar if it’s even possible. With Carol Danvers, with our first title female super hero in Captain Marvel we could do no less than that.”

“The fact that Brie, even after she won her big Academy Award, was interested in coming in and talking to us about the character, really fell in love with this character, really fell in love with the notion of being a symbol that can inspire everyone… We were very lucky. We were very lucky that she agreed to come on board and agreed to come out tonight at the end of the panel.”
