The society we live in rejects any kind of individuality, whether you look different, act different or even dress different to what the ‘norms’ are, you’re instantly seen as a joke. The interesting thing about this is, when people act the same it’s also faced with criticism. You get generalised and called ‘basic’ Any form of expressing yourself is looked down upon and if you don’t express yourself you’re seen as boring. It’s something everyone is conditioned to believe, that we have to fit a certain standard to be considered ‘cool’ or even beautiful. With the diverse amount of people on this planet, the way society has conditioned us all to think is absolutely crazy and unreachable. There are people everywhere wondering why they aren’t represented in the media but when they speak about it or bring light to the topic, they’re instantly attacked with masses of hate. Even with all of this, people wonder why self-hate is so prominent in this society.

The Kids Don’t Wanna Come Home
Growing up is strange,
When you’re young, you feel like everything is in your reach and that all your dreams will come true
Sadly, as we get older, things seem so far and the things that were once so important to you, don’t matter anymore. The main focus of people my age is the future, whether it be what career path they’re choosing or what they’re going to do on the weekend.
As time goes on things get less magical and more bleak, happiness is less important and other’s standards are controlling our actions. Emotion is hidden and crying is considered weak.
No one focuses on the present anymore, they’re either dwelling on the past or predicting the future.
