Much as I want to order another piece, because Giobiwanx is SO talented and easy to work with, I cannot right now. So I must satisfy myself with promoting her.
Want custom character art? Order from her. Hehe
ššš you Giobiwanx!
PPCU Future Classics Rec List
With the help of some lovely moots I've put together a rec list of future classic Pedro character fanfics. You know those fics that you read ages ago, but you think about every so often even years after you read them? These are some WIPs or recently finished fanfics that are sure to become Classics. š«
I've divided them by character. If you read any of these please like/kudos and Comment! That's the best way to help turn these WIP into the classics they will one day become (and maybe even get a sequel or twoš) It's hard to tell if it's a real person or a bot in a hit count these days so interaction is the only gauge to go by for writers. If you don't know what to say you can just tell them "This feels like a future classic!š" - You can even copy paste that.
We're starting with Din in honour of this being Mandalorian and Grogu month ...
Din Djarin
An Unexpected Meeting by @keeshya6 -A long running WIP and personal favourite of mine. A princess saves Din's life and then Din returns the favour... unfortunately for both of them it comes with strings (or chain codes) attached and reader becomes Din's slave. They navigate their feelings and power dynamics, as well as raising a tiny green baby together. Also, reader is a badass.
Teenage Dirtbag, Baby by @awkwardpaws - Move over Dawson's Creek there's a new Angsty teenage love triangle in town. And it's an early 2000's Earth!Din AU. With Din/Paz/Bo and other familiar aspects of the Mandalorian universe brought right down to earth. It's a prequel to the recently completed (and excellent) Din/Cobb fic Falling Slowly.
Country Roads by @itsjuststardust - Din isn't in Navarro anymore but he might be in ...Kansas? Din is dropped on a nurses truck by a tornado in middle America. Reader can't quiet believe he's an alien with a little green baby, but she takes them in anyway. (I mean who wouldn't?).
Losing My Religion by @oonajaeadira - Set post season 2, a Mandalorian comes looking for F!Jedi/Healer Reader with an assignment from an old friend, sending you on a mission and a union that you both need. It's soft, it's tender, the world building and the characters are so well written. I loved losing myself into that story.
Payment by @annwrites24 - Raised as a servant to reader's half-sister on her home planet of Nharia, she find herself married to the king of an ancient warrior race, who happens to be a reluctantly wed Din Djarin. Their union is set to keep the peace between their two peoples. Could this arranged political marriage ever be anything more than loveless treaty?

Not sure why it's a new trend among fic readers to assume if the fic has not been posted within the week it's inappropriate to comment on it, like the fic has to be hot out of the oven to give feedback for.
I got a comment on a fic that is less than a year old and it was mostly an apology for being a comment on an "old fic" and how late they were in commenting.
Just comment on the fic. Doesn't matter how old it is.
Fandom is not social media.
Fandom is not trends.
Fandom is a cross between a library and having a slumber party with your friends.
"Old" means nothing to fic.

Gio was so lovely to work with, and I'm so incredibly happy with my commission. Treat yourself!
awww thank youu š„ŗš«¶š
Totally agreed! Gio is amazingly easy to work with and her art is fantastic! I've fallen in love with both pieces she's done for me and looking forward to the next one so much! Highly recommend!
Fanfic is a great way to practice self-indulgence while writing. It doesnāt even have to be good, it just exists purely for your pleasure, be a little freak about it. Worry about quality and what other people think when it comes to works you intend to publish in a formal setting
How do people write to such a high word count, I max out at 700-1500 before giving up. I would love to learn but every resource I find assumes I have entry-level knowledge ( I don't. )
word count tips from a guy who has over 2 million words on ao3
- first of all, youāre doing great. 700-1,500 words is a lot more than you are giving yourself credit for. i can write 1,500 in an hour and a half on a good day. thatās a lot of time!! especially for someone who has other priorities in life other than fanfic.
- writing stamina is real and is an actual āmuscleā that does grow and strengthen with repetition as time. itās something you can expand and build with practice.
- donāt get too wrapped up in perfection. get words on the page and donāt get in your head about if theyāre the right ones. you can fix garbage but you canāt fix nothing.
- write what excites you. i know nonlinear writing is sacrilege to some people so this may not work for you, but for me personally if i get stuck, i just jump to something i want to write. sometimes that means writing out only dialogue that i add to later. sometimes it means several paragraphs of world building. youāll be surprised about how much you end up writing if you donāt adhere to the structure rules and add stuff later.
- donāt feel pressured to write it all at once. most of the greatest novels were written over the course of months, even years. sure, there are authors that can crank out 10k in a day (iāve done it - itās killer and i was exhausted after) but having realistic goals can help.
- to add to that, setting achievable goals is also important. donāt shoot for the stars just yet or else you may find yourself feeling disappointed. give yourself small checkpoints that you can have mini rewards for.
- when it comes to brainstorming and outlining, i find making a list of plot points and character beats with no specific order that i then organize later into a sequential outline is helpful. outlines are another way to have a tangible proof of your progress
- donāt burn yourself out on one project. breaks are important and so is nourishing your mind
its 1am so thats all from me for now! hope this helped
This is SO HELPFUL - a person trying to post their second chapter ever on ao3
two things that can and should coexist: writing fanfiction for yourself as a form of self-care slash comfort and appreciating kind comments given by your readers, as well as using these encouraging comments as a source of motivation to write more fics
i think because of the whole "writers write for themselves" notion that's becoming increasingly popularized, people forget that we still thrive off interaction and kindness. i write for myself but kudos and comments and bookmarks and really any sort of interaction with my fics genuinely motivates me to keep writing and keep sharing my works.
I write for myself.
I post for community.
listen i may take 4 weeks to write a 3k word chapter, and i may take 45 minutes to decide whether i should use ālaughā or āchuckleā, but at least i donāt use ai and whatever youāre getting is pure chaos from a human brain
the cool ground
raider!Joel x f!reader, 780 words | masterlist
CANON š¤ emotionally intense. praise, angst, fluff, kissing.
There was a time when you wouldn't have dared imagine Joel and you laying together on the hill. There was a world where the closest you'd ever get to a soft moment outdoors would have been shooting practice. But this world had been merciful, for once.
On the same hill where he'd taught you how to use the rifle, you were reading in a clover patch with Bullet when Joel came out back. He lifted his white tank up to wipe his face, exposing his happy trail and strong trunk. He didn't ask you to come in, didn't lift up your dress. He sat down next to you.
fanfiction is getting less interaction, people barely reblog anymore, role players are getting pushed out of fandom, ai generated slop winning art contests
START ENGAGING IN THINGS YOU LOVE BEFORE IT DISAPPEARS!
So much has happened... Fans who used to interact about the Character started chatting with "him" instead of other fans, cranking it to "his" chats instead of smut, even making our fics into AI bots without permission. Writers and artists got demoralized when AI fics and art got more attention than theirs. The instant turnaround of AI made users more demanding of real creators. At the same time, "conservative" propaganda got to young adults. Rise in kink shaming and infighting about woke. Everything Problematic. Tumblr skeleton crew didn't enforce rules, emboldening bullies. Some spaces became dystopian ghost towns. Lurking became normal. It's wild how many *new* followers haven't posted/reblogged anything since 2023-2024.
Reblog if you love āāā and have never used ChatGPT
i genuinely think that any reader of fanfiction should write and post something once. not just because it would really illustrate to them the amount of work it takes and how terrifying it can be to bare yourself to the internet and how disheartening a lack of interaction can be, but also how fun and exhilarating it is. how amazing some kudos or a single comment can make you feel for weeks. this account is for being mean, yes, but i cannot stress how consistent and wonderful a hobby writing fic has been for me since i was a young teen.
Yeah but what if it's bad and you get told it's bad and then you re-read and realize that yeah, it is bad but it was the best idea you could muster?
What then?
then you keep on writing or you give up. idk what to tell you, iāve had anons that i blocked hunt down niche side blogs of mine to tell me, in detail, just how much they hate my writing. and thatās part of the risk of baring yourself to the public. and it fucking sucks. but thatās what every single person who posts fic or fanart or edits or whatever fandom content you enjoy risks every time they do, because thereās always going to be someone out there who thinks it sucks. i still think the risk is worth it, when it can open you up to a level of connection with your online peers that youāve never experienced before. but thatās just me.
I love it when fan fiction writers are like: āah shit, this was meant to be one part but I started writing it and now it has to be threeā. Like the fanfic is happening to them and not being created by them.
I'm in this post... and I don't know if I love it or hate it. Lol
Iām in this post and Iād say I donāt like it but Iām the one who made it soā¦
Me last night reading @3pirouette ās āTender Payment For Our Sinsā⦠it is ohhh so good! š„°š„°š„°š„°
My fic did that to you?? I mean... that's like, the HIGHEST compliment you can pay a fic writer.
Thank you, dear!!
(And please get some sleep, sleep is important š)
