The funniest thing to me about people using the urbain tag without any capitalization and monikers at the beginning or end is that his name in the English and Indonesian localizations comes from the French word for urban

And since the French version doesn’t have that as his name, we as the English and Indonesian pokemon fan base collectively stole the urbain tag from the French

Ok not actually but looking in the tag has mostly urbain posts with a few posts about French architecture sprinkled in lmao

Damn someone beat me to it I had the exact same idea and I’m trying to cook up an outfit for urbain and taunie themed around the eternal flower but art block be art blocking (´；ω；`)

Ok so there’s this weird detail that my brain is hung up over

Urbain/taunie never mentions their education meanwhile Naveen via lida spilling his story about how his grandma wanting him to focus on getting good grades is a mention of education while lida mentions having a scholarship

But our rival never mentions their education (unless I missed some dialogue) and with the implication of homelessness via story dialogue I have to wonder

Could they even afford education or were they forced to drop out

God sake this is a pokemon game I’m thinking to hard about this

Ok now that pokemon legends ZA has started to finally marinate in my brain I want to share this weird crack theory (that I ended up turning into an AU) that I came up with about urbain and taunie while I was halfway through the story that was only partially true but was wholly incorrect in the long run xD

Obviously spoilers for main story and post game

So as I was going through the story and finally got grisham’s promotional match and when I was going through the story beats of finding out his identity, my brain came up with a weird connection that was kinda bullshit

Urbain/taunie has blonde hair with reddish orange tips

Grisham and griselle also have blonde hair with orange tips

Mable said that there was a younger generation of team flare members

Therefore, the rival was a former team flare member like those two

I am well aware about how stupid this sounds

But the two things that weirdly made me cling to this theory till the very end was that

1. Pokemon has done this before in the manga where the female protagonist for black 2 and white 2, Rosa (named Whitley in the manga) was an ex team plasma grunt so this could have been a possible twist in the games

2. How hellbent they were with helping people around lumiose city

I’m aware that last one is flimsy but the weird loopdeloop theorizing I did was that as an ex team flare member, they simply wanted to do good in the world like grisham and griselle but after team flare’s defeat, they sobered up and realized the awful things they did and after being taken in by AZ, felt like they had to atone for their sins or something like that. Heck this would’ve explained their behavior at the end of the game and why they were so hellbent on trying to win floette over to be the greatest mega evolution user. Because they felt like they had to save lumiose city

Fast forward to post game to realize none of this was true XD and that they weren’t ex team flare but at least I got the twist that they were loosely related to team flare but only via their mother but I don’t really count that as a victory lol

So the lesson I learned today is that I’m an idiot and to not theorize at 1 in the morning

Off topic though this would be a fantastic AU or something. Like can you imagine them having a mizu 5 project sekai moment or something when the player finds out urbain/taunie are ex team flare and they give the player this absolutely horrified expression (heck they literally have a facial expression in game that’s just the mizuki untrained card) and feeling like they can’t go back to team MZ or something like that, that would be brutal

Ok so I was originally gonna end it there but only a few seconds after I finished typing I said to myself “wait I’m an artist I can just D R A W I T”

It doesn’t help that mizu5 is currently ongoing in the global pjsk servers so the timing couldn’t have been worse
