SYNOPSIS for your one year anniversary, akaashi takes you out on a date to the aquarium.
apart of my 𝒪𝒞𝐸𝒜𝒩 𝐵𝐿𝒰𝐸𝒮 & 𝒴𝒪𝒰 𓇼 event
dates with akaashi are usually simple. a movie night, a study date in the library, ones you don't have to travel too far for.
but since it's your one year anniversary with him. he wanted to something a bit more special than a typical date.
and that's how he landed on a trip to the aquarium.
about a month or so before your anniversary. he already started to plan everything out.
which aquarium the closest was to your home, checking the ticket pricing on all the nearby ones, then comparing the ticket prices to the amount of activities available, checking all the activities available if they're entertaining enough to keep you busy for a while.
he made sure to check all the tiny details, if everything isn't perfect. it isn't worth it, he only wants the best for you.
and he made sure you didn't know about a thing until the day of. that'd ruin the surprise part of it.
the only information you got was to clear your schedule for that entire day, which certainly didn't give any hints. so you were completely clueless about it all.
it's now the morning of your anniversary. you woke up to a phonecall, from akaashi of course.
'goodmorning, love. did you sleep okay?' came from the other side of the line, and a smile made it's way on your features at the sound of his voice.
you hummed, voice still too thick with sleep to form a coherent sentence.
'i'm glad. i'll be at yours by eleven, sound good?' you murmured a quick 'okay' before getting up from your comfortable bed to start getting ready.
you did your skincare, light makeup, tried a new hair-do, and picked out an outfit. casual and breezy, since the weather has been getting hotter day by day.
and before you knew it, someone already rang the doorbell.
'coming!' you yell as you rush down the stairs. even if it's only akaashi standing by the door.
you open the door to akaashi holding a bouquet of white and pink peonies. wrapped tightly together pink satin ribbon.
he greets you with a polite smile and a kiss on your cheek, like always.
'keiji' you say, completely stunned at the beautiful bouquet. mouth slightly agape as your gaze flickers between him and the flowers.
'do you like them?' he asks, slightly confused as to why you're so shocked at simply the flowers.
you blink a few times, then regather all your senses. your first move being to tackle him into a hug, nearly crushing the neat bouquet if it weren't for his fast enough reflexes.
'yes, of course! they're beautiful.' you pull away from the hug slightly to give him a kiss on the lips. wrapping your arms around his neck in the process.
he rests one of his hands on your waist. the other holding the bouquet.
'are you ready to go?' he asks after a beat of silence. 'uh, yeah- wait, not yet!' you stumble out of his loose embrace after the realization hit that you hadn't packed your handbag yet.
akaashi chuckled lightly at your antics, stepping through the doorway of your home. knowing you won't be done very soon.
he kicked off his shoes and padded towards the kitchen. looking through all the cupboards for a vase to set the bouquet in. might as well do it himself since you'll likely forget to do it after.
he finds a vase big enough to fit the peonies, fills it with around a third to two thirds of water, places the bundle in, and wraps the pink ribbon that was originally used to tie them together, around the neck of the glass vase.
then he takes the vase with careful hands, up to your room.
once he enters, he notices the mess you've made of it.
clothes scattered on your bed and the floor, duvet half hanging on your bed, random drawers opened. and you rummaging through one of said drawers.
'need any help?' akaashi asks, and the sudden sound of his voice startles you, nearly giving yourself whiplash from turning your head so fast.
'-no! i need to find one more thing and then i'm ready, promise!' you stand up too fast and nearly trip over a sock, thankfully akaashi saved you just in time. his hands holding you steady.
'be careful.' he says, voice soft. and you awkwardly laugh. picking up the sock that nearly caused your demise.
you succesfully find the last thing you needed, haphazardly shove it in your bag, and kick some clothes under your bed. like he hasn't seen the entire mess already.
'let's go!' you exclaim, checking yourself in the mirror for the last time.
he takes your hand in his, grip tight so you won't slip on the way down the stairs and outside. better safe than sorry.
because of your slightly bad time management, you left home a little later than he originally planned. messing up the schedule he made a teensy bit. but don't worry, he prepared for this.
preperation meaning taking the bus after the one you were originally supposed to be on. which isn't a big deal. still perfectly on time for the train.
you still, obviously. don't have a clue where you're going to, or what you're going to do.
and it's futile to ask him for any hints, since he refuses to give you any. telling you to be patient and wait, you'll find out soon enough.
the busride is short, but hot. since the damned air conditioning system seems to be broken in this specific bus, great.
but thankfully, you brought a mini fan with you. and akaashi, like the gentleman he is. offers to hold it for you.
you chat a bit in the bus, about school and what not. and him telling you about bokuto's strange antics at practice the days before.
the journey to aquarium is filled with smiles and laughter, you nearly losing it at his scarily accurate bokuto impression in the train.
after a small forty five minutes, you finally make it to your destination.
akaashi ordered you to close your eyes to not spoil the surprise yet, and you did as told. he held an arm around your waist to guide you safely.
'you can open your eyes now.' he said, voice soft and a smile on his face. even if you can't see it, yet.
you open your eyes, blink once. then twice. making out the sight infront of you.
you've found yourself at the aquarium, and specifically the one you've had your eye on for a few weeks. how coincidental.
there's a crowd of people standing at the entrace of the building, a big sign with the name of the aquarium plastered on in big, neon letters.
'keiji-' you look at him with wide eyes, surprise etched on your face.
'surprise!' he says, voice faintly more amused than what you're used to from him.
'this is amazing! how'd you know i wanted to go here for so long?' you beam, restraining yourself from jumping on him in excitement, like you did earlier.
'you talked my ears off for weeks, so i thought this'd be the perfect date for our anniversary.' you playfully nudged his shoulder, grinning at his words.
the thing with akaashi is, he remembers nearly everything you say. even if it's something small, all your small comments of wanting to go somewhere, or wanting something. are all etched into his mind.
'you're the best!' you proclaim, he blushes slightly at your compliment. even if you've complimented him so many times in the span you've known eachother. he still can't get used to them.
'let's go now, shall we?' he interlinks his fingers with yours in a tight hold, making sure he won't lose you in the bustling crowd of people.
you nod happily, a small pep in your step on the way.
it's not the best day to go to the aquarium, since it's the weekend and summer break. so there's tons of families with small children already causing ruckus.
but nonetheless, you make it through the ticket check with ease.
and finally, you actually arrive in the building.
there's a bunch of water tanks in your line of sight already, and the area is filled with loud chatter from guests and the staff, explaining about what's in every tank and what not.
it's overwhelming at first, small children bumping against your legs, people brushing your shoulder when passing by. and noise everywhere around.
you forget where you are for a minute, until you feel a strong arm wrapping itself around you.
'you okay?' you hear a voice ask, and you turn your head to see akaashi looking at you with a light concern on his face.
'mhm!' you reassure him, telling him you were a little overwhelmed at first, that's all.
you can tell he doesn't really believe you, with the way his brows are still slightly furrowed, and his tight grip on your waist with his hand.
'i'm good, i swear! let's go!' you give him a smile that he oh so loves, and that convinces him that you are in fact, okay.
but you do feel the way his grip tightens just a little.
you two walk around a little. listening to the staff members explaining about what sealife lives in the tanks you stand infront, with akaashi occasionally muttering something under his breath.
you don't really listen to any of the explanations since it's all confusing. even if put into simple terms for the large amount of children present.
a couple minutes later, after scurrying through the crowds. you finally find yourself in a quieter area, still littered with people. but alot less than at the beginning of the aquarium.
it's a giant water tank, nearly covering the entire length of the hallway.
you quietly watch the fish swim around, the stingrays slowly skimming over the bottom of the the tank, and the seaweed flopping from side to side as fish pass by.
it's a beautiful sight to see. the bright blue water with all kinds of colorful entities floating around in them.
akaashi stands closely next to you, also watching all the beings in the water move around with quiet intent.
'keiji.' you speak up after a few minutes of silence. 'yeah?' he responds, voice barely above a whisper not to disturb the quiet atmosphere created around you.
'if i turned into a fish, would you take care of me?' you look at him with curious eyes, and he's somewhat perplexed at your question.
'of course, i'd treat you with care.' although stunned at your random question, he replies with a regular, confident tone.
'of course you would, didn't expect anything less from you.' you tease, already knowing the answer he'd give you.
he gives you a small chuckle, giving you a quick peck on your temple.
you stand in silence for another moment, gaze back on the water tank infront, until something pops up in your head.
'can you take some pictures of me?' you ask, already reaching in your bag for your small camera, specially brought for this occasion.
he hums, taking the camera from you and getting into the perfect position.
another thing with akaashi, is that he's somewhat of a professional photographer. you didn't even need to teach him how to postion his body, nor the camera. it just came naturally.
he's also the one guiding you on how to pose, what expression to make with your face, a hair flip, etc.
that's how he acquired the nickname, my professional girlfriend photographer. from you.
'tilt your head a little,' he tells you, angling the camera a little to the right, and positioning himself a tad lower. but not nearly crouching.
it's serious business to him. he knows you'll complain if you don't get the perfect pictures.
people passing by are making sure not to get in the way, the more grown adults sending weird looks, and other couples. especially the girls, are practically admiring you. asking their boyfriends if they can take pictures of them too.
after a few minutes filled with different poses and angles, he's finally satisfied with the pictures he's taken of you.
he pockets your camera, saving it for more photography oppurtunities today.
the more times goes by, the busier it gets. and also the thirstier and hungrier you become.
you drag akaashi with you to the food court, passing by all the different stalls until you reach an ice cream shop. exactly what you were craving.
like the gentleman akaashi is, he obviously pays for yours. telling you can get whatever you'd like.
you find a bench to sit on, but before you're able to sit down. someone takes your spot.
akaashi's already sat. and he notices there's no other free benches nearby.
you look around with a scowl, mentally scoffing at the person who took your unassigned spot.
'sit on my lap.' he says, tapping his thighs. and you do, although hesitant at first.
once you make sit down, he wraps his arms around your waist steadily, and rests his chin on your shoulder.
you two get a few weird stares from the bold display of affection, but you ignore them, it's not the weirdest thing to do in public.
you happily lick away at your soft serve, eyes flicking around the area to see what other people are up to.
it's increasingly busy, almost like the whole population of tokyo decided that today was the perfect day to go out to the aquarium.
akaashi mentally scolds himself for not checking how busy it'd be beforehand, but it was expected anyways.
a hot summer day, in the middle of summer break, in the most populated city of japan. is far from ideal to go anywhere.
anyhow, you finished your ice cream in record time, before it melted due to the heat in the bulding.
the rest of the day is filled with more picture taking, watching all the sea life and other animals present, laughing at akaashi for dropping half his fries on the ground, nearly tripping over random children laying on the floor, and overall. lots of laughter.
the weather has cooled down significantly, and the crowd of people slowly grew smaller as the hours passed, thankfully.
it the most exciting day you've had in a while. although your voice is hoarse from all the laughs, and your feet are sore from the amounts of walking and wearing the wrong shoes.
it's the most perfect date you could've wished for, and akaashi was glad to have served it to you.
you stand outside with him now, watching the seals laze around with eachother.
'did you have fun?' akaashi asks, his whole body turned to you, a significant smile on his pretty face.
'mhm, thank you.' you whisper, turning yourself to face him and bringing your face close to his.
you lace your arms around his neck, and his hands rest on the curve of your waist. thumbs drawing small circles through your top.
he makes the first move, and kisses you gently, lips brushing yours, soft like a feather.
his lips move against yours with careful movements, treating as if you were made of porcelain.
you pull away first, catching your breath. looking at him with practical hearts in your eyes.
'happy anniversary, love.'
