When designing conference table for a client, I always ask several questions that help me start this process. However, sometimes there’s an idea that appears without any particular reason, and you just start drawing. The conference table I designed today is just that, it appeared, this time without any concrete attached to it and with no I-Beams.

From the bottom up, it starts with a 1/2″ thick steel plate with 10’s of various size steel tubing welded to it at various angles. Some of the tubes support top elements, 2 steel, and two glass sheets – 20 feet of it. Other, just add character to the piece.

Some steel surfaces partially clear coated, other painted with contrasting color.

I would love to make this steel, glass, and concrete conference table for you! I wonder if this is every designer’s curse, to feel like the design is not complete until you can actually touch it, use it, feel it. Well, just let me know…

Since I designed this other table a few days ago, I realized that I’ve been preventing my clients from fully enjoying their tables by putting concrete slabs on top. I do love concrete top tables but what’s the point of making an awesome base if nobody will ever see it?

Just imagine this blue accented table with a full concrete slab on top, what a loss that would be. From now on, I’ll try to compromise and make at least part of the table’s frame visible through the top.

We have here a  20′ long x 5′ wide, partially glass top, minimalistic steel frame, concrete conference table, a very sleek conference table! It has an 8″ x 8″ I-Beam vertebrae welded into a zig-zag shape, bolted at one end to a massive counterbalancing  concrete block, and resting on the other end on a 1/2″ thick steel plate.

Three triangular steel plates, bolted at the center of this I-Beam, provide support for the 5’x6′ concrete center piece and its frame. There are two irregularly shaped glass supporting frames, with corner protecting bumpers.

Charcoal concrete, dark gray matte finish on steel, and 1/2″ thick, dimmed glass. In a few weeks you can finally enjoy your meetings! Give me call  – Darek @ 847-281-5131.

Steel Frame, Concrete Base, and Glass top Conference Table Design

Slightly altered design of my Northbank concrete conference table. This one can be appreciated in its entirety (top and base) even when fully occupied, I just got rid of the concrete top slabs. Replacing concrete with ½” thick tempered glass sheets exposes an entire steel framework.

The previously skewed center section and a steel logo plate has been replaced with concrete and could contain embedded company logo, name, slogan, and/or AV-charging ports. The wiring can be also hidden inside the frame/glass supports and accessible from underneath without disturbing the design.

The table’s structure rests on 5 concrete blocks, one large, rectangular piece that also acts as counterbalance to the entire table, and 4 additional 12”x12” square blocks supporting each of the I-Beams (two on each side).

Steel, Concrete, and Wood Conference Table Concept Design

This concrete conference table hasn’t found its owner yet, would you like to become one? Everything can customized.

I designed it for a client but we didn’t finalize the process, so, it’s been sitting on my computer and I decided to share it.

There are two main table supporting legs made of wood vernier plywood and solid wood. All attached to steel frames hidden behind. Additional support comes from large I-Beams bolted to the wooden legs and table’s top frame.

Concrete table top is divided into three pieces with wooden planks, each plank has a built in AV ports box. Company logo nested in the center concrete section.

Steel and Concrete Conference Tables – Design and Fabrication by Designs by Rudy

The designing process of every single one of my steel and concrete conference tables usually begins with finding some kind of a seed, an element characteristic to your brand, something that when incorporated into your table’s design, will make it uniquely special and give it its soul.

While steel base elements and concrete top conference table slabs dominate my designs, wood, glass, and other materials can be also incorporated into those projects. Conference table top can be made from steel, sheets of glass, concrete slabs, wood, or their combination.

Company logo usually finds its way into the table’s top center section but asymmetrical designs give concrete conference room tables more personality.

You will always work with me (Darek) on a project and the design process is not complete until you love it. Typical lead time on a concrete conference table fabrication (excluding its design process) is 6-8 weeks.

Boardroom Table Design and Fabrication for NAC, Gallery

NAC Boardroom Table Design and Fabrication

Another gorgeous fabrication of two tables I designed at the end of 2017. Hammertown Industrial Furniture made that happen again, this time building a couple of matching tables for NAC, North America Construction (1993) Ltd. and NAC Constructors Ltd (1996) based in Canada.

It’s always difficult for a designer not to be able to participate in the fabrication process, so all I can do is enjoy the pictures.

DR STV2 Concrete Top Serving Table, 3 Steel Legs, Corner Column

DR STV2 Rectangular  concrete top serving table with layered plywood square column in the table’scorner. The 3 steel legs, supporting top are bonded together and to the wooden column with an I-Beam.

This particular concrete top serving table / buffet design can be size-customized and utilized as a kitchen island, console table, display table, buffet, or anything else you want it to be.

The layered plywood supporting column (see the last picture in “Picture Gallery”) can be substituted with solid wood planks of various species. The C channel top frame is 1.5″ tall and surrounds 1″ thick concrete slab. All dimensions can be customized, concrete top is available in natural concrete gray, charcoal (almost black) and shades between. Steel frame can be powder coated to any color, or clear coated only – all steel welds and polishing would be visible.

The concrete top surface is sealed with 4 coats of high-performance, food safe sealer, available in semi-gloss or matte finish. The sealer is a penetrable type and provides an excellent stain, acid, and scratch resistance of concrete surfaces.

Concrete top is made of GFRC – Glass Fiber Reinforced Concrete.

This table will require assembly and will be delivered inside a crate containing 3 main pieces + hardware.

1. Concrete top in a steel frame (shipped together but can be separated) 2. Steel legs 3. Wooden column 4. Bolts

Help of 4 people capable of lifting those pieces and performing installation at your location is highly recommended.

DR STV1 Rectangular  concrete top serving table with layered plywood square column centered along the table’s short edge. The column’s top section enclosed with a steel brace extends slightly above the top’s concrete surface, two steel legs, supporting top from the opposite side, are bonded together and to the wooden column with an I-Beam.
