Three Barn Owls - August 25, 2025 - Photographer: Keith Dennis Brewer
This photo, taken on August 25, 2025, by wildlife photographer Keith Dennis Brewer at the Magnetic Hill Zoo in Moncton, NB, captures three beautiful Barn Owls (Tyto alba) resting together. With their heart-shaped faces and ghostly white plumage, barn owls are one of the most recognizable and widespread owl species in the world.
Zoos like Magnetic Hill Zoo play an important role in conservation, education, and research. While this post is not sponsored, visiting a zoo offers a great opportunity to capture close-up photographs of animals that are often difficult to spot in the wild. For photographers, it provides the chance to study animal behavior, refine skills, and share the beauty of wildlife with others.
Facts about Barn Owls:
Barn Owls can be found on every continent except Antarctica.
They are known for their excellent night vision and incredible sense of hearing, which allows them to hunt effectively in complete darkness.
Their diet mainly consists of rodents, making them an important natural pest controller.
Unlike most owls, Barn Owls don’t hoot. Instead, they make eerie screeches and hissing calls.
They are sometimes called the “ghost owl” due to their pale appearance and silent flight.
By supporting zoos, we help fund conservation programs that protect endangered species and raise awareness about the challenges wildlife face in the modern world. For photographers and nature lovers, places like the Magnetic Hill Zoo provide an inspiring space to connect with animals and capture meaningful moments.
