She smiled, half heartedly, her lips just barely shifting upwards, “I doubt that I’ll be out if I try that, but thanks.” They’d already told her she was saddled with a condition difficult to manage, rare in children and would be here for some time. Having no family to go back to it was unlikely she’d be out before at least a few years. She didn’t expect anyone to adopt her, not as she was.
Keith laughs a bit, shrugging, “Yeah, someone told me the same thing. Hasn’t worked for me, but that’s because I don’t like playing along. Wanted to see if it worked with someone else,” he says, smiling a bit. It didn’t really happen all that often that he talked to the other kids. But, this didn’t seem to be too bad.
“you think they’ll actually comply with my requests here?” she rolled her eyes, taking a break from trying to pick the lock. “they confiscated all my good picking lock equipment, and now i’m stuck with a fricken’ bobby pin.”
“Better than having to break into your own room, right? I mean, might as well try. Better safe than sorry,” he says, hands on his knees as he looks over her shoulder. “You had lock picking equipment? Dang, that’s pretty cool. I mean, it can get you in a lot of trouble. But, still. Cool.”
“d’you think that the idea of s-santa in all the books n’ m-movies that’re ‘round now was made up by that s-soda company or was he always w-wearing red n’ stuff before that?”
“Don’t let them get you down.” She could try to say that without knowing that it was hypocritical, but she knew it was. “Yeah, you’re right. It’s just fucked up… They took me from my home and everything and now we’re just stuck.” Details of course didn’t go farther than that, she loathed the feeling of letting too much of her history go.
“No, they don’t really get me down. At least, not a whole lot, you know. I make do,” he says, with a small nod. Other things got him down much more efficiently. Keith listens intently to her story, since he would much rather do that than talk about himself. “That’s sounds really rough, sucks that had to happen. But, from what I’ve seen, just play along and you’ll be out in no time.”
“Yeah, I know, its just…” She pauses words lingering on her lips that she isn’t sure exactly how to put together. “I just miss it. I’m sorry, that sucks.”
Keith nods, knowing her struggle. He knew he wasn’t crazy, but nothing he could do would seem to fix it. “It’s not your fault, you don’t have to be sorry,” he says, his voice quiet and soft, “All we can do is stick to what we know and try and make the best of a bad situation.”
“Okay, so, I GET what you guys are trying to do. You’re all trying to help and fix me, but I DON’T need that, I just need to go home. I don’t need to be here, okay ? I’M FINE !”
“I know how you feel, I’m not supposed to be here either. But, it’s been eight months for me, and they won’t really send you home. At least, not so soon.”
“i got eight stitches today and they’re disgusting looking. like, i’m pretty sure they had to sedate me with something just to get through the process. it was awful.”
“god DAMMIT.” the fiery red head spat as she tried her hardest to pick the lock that was in front of her. “hey you.” she nodded at the person she could make out in her peripheral…”give me a hand? my roommate likes to be a BITCH and lock me out at least once a week.” she huffed.
Keith had been admittedly watching the girl for a moment, wondering whose room she was breaking into, and was just glad it wasn’t his. He never expected her to talk to him, and actually looked around once she called for help. Apparently, he was the one she was talking to, “Oh, that sucks. You should try and get a new roommate,” he says, walking over. He wasn’t sure how he was going to help, though.
elena sat in front of the tv, not really paying attention to what was playing in front of her. she’d been at the house for two months now, and she wanted to go home. she didn’t want to be around so many new people. hearing someone approaching, she felt her chest tightening. taking a deep breath, she looked over them, trying her best to smile. “did you want to watch something? you-you can change it.”
Keith came into the rec room, ready to sit at his normal spot in front of the television, but he saw the girl there. He didn’t know her (not that he really knew anyone) and so was ready to turn tail and go back to his room. But, the girl talked to him first, making him feel trapped by politeness, “Oh, uh, you sure you’re not watching?”
└ ♡ °·:. keith robinson is thirteen years old and has been at the safe house for eight months and are diagnosed with delusional disorder. they are known to be imaginative and genuine but also shy and stubborn. around the house, they’re known to be the jaeden lieberher look-a-like.
to start it off, jaeden is pretty much a normal kid! a bit nerdy, he likes to read books and comics, play video games with his few friends, and keeps up with every movie that comes out. just loves pop culture so much
and so, when he was a kid, he began to brainstorm his own ideas for a comic, it was pretty simple stuff, just ideas he would write down and draw, never really show anyone.
but, it slowly grew, with a bunch of different characters and stories. a lot of them very dark, and to him they felt very, very real.
that was when it started to become a problem. it felt real, as if he was actually creating this world, a world from another dimension.
his responsibility to this world had started to engulf his life when his parents had first noticed it, keeping him up at night, his school work suffering. he didn’t care about anything else, only that
which was concerning enough, to the point that they started sending him to a therapist, not that it helped. he was very resistant to it, knowing that it was real.
it was when he started to drop everything, skipping school to write and draw, talking about the life of these people that he felt like he in control of, changing their world for the worst. it was depressing, to a point, but he couldn’t stop because of his responsibility.
it was soon after this that they sent him to amber’s safe house, where his older brother worked. they had heard great things about the place, and hoped it would get him the help he needed
