8.10.2013- Great Gatsby festival 2013 at the Tallac Historic Site!! It is our giant living history festival fundraiser, the event of the season. I gave interactive tours of our historic estates, manned the speakeasy, supervised schmoozing at the silent auction and had so much fun!!

I’ve seen a few fashion posts trying to expand the “Marie Antoinette is not Victorian” rant, but this stuff can get complicated, so here is a semi-comprehensive list so everyone knows exactly when all of these eras were.

Please note that this is very basic and that there are sometimes subcategories (especially in the 17th century, Jacobean, Restoration, etc).

Reblogging because it´s a nice overview over the British division of history. In most countries the eras are named by what is referred to as the “artistic style” in the above overview and the borders are often varying regionally,e.g the Italian renaissance starts and ends not at the same time as the french, if one looks at the details and the Gothic period starts in France much earlier than e.g. in Germany etc. Here in Germany it is by far rarer for any period to be referred to by the reigning local dynasty than the art style.
