5. Combat Girls - Rotterdam 1996
“Baggy, queer tomboys and tank girls. An army of stiletto-liberated women and dyke ass bitches. Watch out.”
Aleksandra Waliszewska (Polish, b. 1976, Warsaw, Poland) - Paintings

Someone believing she’s “Not like other girls” and it’s adult equivalents of internalized misogyny don’t inherently mean someone is a piece of shit misogynist who deserves to be denigrated further. It means they don’t have class consciousness and desperately need it. It’s really not comparable to male misogyny in its power effect scope or violence, even when it hurts us because we expect better
just watched the new episodes of What We Do in the Shadows. Nandor OH my god i love the you
[Video description: a video of someone painting over an old dinner tray decorated with an existing painting. The original painting is of people picking fruit from a orchard by a farmhouse. The edited painting features characters from Over the Garden Wall, including the human protagonists, Wirt and Greg, various animals, and people with Jack-o-lanterns on their heads. Text on the video reads “I found this old tray at goodwill and decided to add to the scene.“ The video ends with the camera zooming out from the finished painting, which is sitting on some grass. The painter then places a rock with a painted face on the tray. /end VD]
Ana Mendieta - “Silueta” Series
The “Siluetas” comprise more than 200 earth-body works that saw the artist burn, carve, and mold her silhouette into the landscapes of Iowa and Mexico. The sculptures made tangible Mendieta’s belief of the earth as goddess, rooted in Afro-Cuban Santería and the indigenous Taíno practices of her homeland.
“It is a way of reclaiming my roots and becoming one with nature.”
Lazy days
sitting around wasting my 20s while thinking about how i sat around and wasted my teens
there is nothing innate about men that prevents them from competently cleaning
when people say things like “he’s a guy so any cleaning he does is ‘guy cleaning’” they mean “lower your expectations because men are slobs.” but women aren’t inherently neat (messiness is definitely a trait i have), and this just lets men off the hook when they don’t do domestic chores competently. it’s all social all the way down.
this also goes for cooking, and childcare, and and and
it's hilarious to me that the same people who say you can't trust men to be thorough and meticulous with domestic tasks will trust those very same men with POWER TOOLS
if you can't wash a dish properly I'm not even letting you touch the grown-up scissors
I was once told by my old boss “Men learn from an early age that they won’t have to lift a finger if they can prove they’re all thumbs”, and I think about that a lot honestly.
I’d like to call this phenomena of men shirking domestic work and responsibilities to members of the female sex the labor gap.
