@KadetKelly: I need a poptart
“It shows.” Preston smirked and then quickly changed the subject. “My classes are going pretty well, thanks for asking. I’m actually trying to memorize a monologue for tomorrow’s class but, clearly I need to change my study location.” He chuckled and then realized he had had enough of playing football and needed to get out of the sun. “Where are you headed? I could use some shade.”
Kelly turned his head down and briefly blushed. "I was just going to get a quick bite to eat, you wanna join me?" He asked then readjusted the strap of the dance bag that was over his shoulder. "I hear they bring out the good snacks after the lunch hour." He grinned.
“It’s fine. I shouldn’t be looking at this on the field anyway.” He locked his phone, put it back in his pocket, and looked up at the boy. “You’ve got a great arm, there. If dancing doesn’t work out, you might have a shot at football.”
"Thanks," Kelly shyly smirked. "Spending half my day lifting girls up has done wonders for my biceps. So uh, how's your acting classes?" He asked his bunkmate. The younger guy had just been let out of the studio and was headed to the mess hall for a snack.
Nothing quite like getting up early and hearing the birds singing. If only they’d shut up for another few hours.
I don’t know, I kinda like it. The birds hear sound ten times better than the seagulls back home.
Arabella laughed a little,“That definitely won’t be a problem for me, unless the other girl I’m with is a tornado.” She joked, smiling at the boy.
“Girls can get crazy... and messy... and mean.” Kelly thought out loud. Being on his studio’s competition team, he spent a majority of his time in the presence of hormonal teenaged girls. It could get a littler intense for the boy.
It’s got some perks. Technically, they’re only halfers, so I got some time by myself for a while, which was great. Score, I was hoping I wouldn’t have to eat them all by myself.
The day I turn down a free cookie is the day hell freezes over. So, you’re part of a blended family or something?

@KadetKelly: I need about 8 ice packs for my thighs alone.
“Girls can be tough, that’s for sure. I get my fill of theater guys, too.” Charlie nibbled on her lip for a second, not totally sure of the answer to his question. “I haven’t really thought that far in advance, I guess. I’ve had some big offers for stuff, but I always turn it down because I feel bad dragging my dad away from work, and I don’t want my grandparents to have to take me.”
Kelly chuckled at realizing how different their lives were. Whenever he was offered a job or a chance to perform somewhere, his mom jumped at the opportunity. Whether he wanted to be involved or not, his mother was going to have him book events, jobs, and performances at any time they were available. "I guess the summer will give you time to figure it all out." He told her.
“Dude, really? I’m trying to memorize this monologue.”
"Oh, my bad, dude. But in my defense, you were kinda in the way."
Both, it’s totally both. They’re younger, so they don’t really get sharing 100% just yet. We’re working on it. Chocolate chip, you want one?
I've always wondered what it was like to have siblings, especially younger ones. Totally, man. Chocolate chip are my favorite.
My little brother and sister sent me a care package and it’s filled with a coloring book they already colored every page in and seven cookies. It’s almost just like being at home.
I don't know if that's more adorable or hilarious. Either way, it sounds like my kind of care package. What kind of cookies were they?
“So which location are you in? I freaking love Austin.” Kelsie smiled, gushing just a little. She spent a night there when she was in Texas for a competition a few years back. Going to Texas in the middle of a Minnesota winter was a godsend, plus Austin’s culture was a big party to her. “It’s so cool your family’s into dance, you must have been doing it since you were born.”
“Well, I live in Galveston, so I spend mostly all my time in the Texas location.” Kelly said. Galveston being near the Gulf of Texas, was sort of a hybrid town. It shared both traditional southern and beachy vibes. “My mom used to bring my crib into the studio while she taught class. I really didn’t have a choice when it came to dance.”
“Perpich?” Keslie said like a question, unsure of if he would have heard of it. It was a good school, but she was so far from home she doubted anyone would be familiar. “It’s an arts high school in Minneapolis. How about you?” Kelsie didn’t mention the twinge of jealousy she had that Kelly’s mom seemed so invested in his art
“Oh yeah, I think I’ve heard of the place.” Kelly said as he nodded. The odd name brought up a vague memory from somewhere in his brain. “Modern Motion Dance Company. It’s got a location in Texas and another near New Orleans. My grandma actually founded it forever ago, and my mom owns it now.” He told her.
Kelsie raised an eyebrow. “Seriously? I always think that’s flattering. I mean, if they’re correcting you it means they think you can get better.” She remembered back when she was first starting to dance and was by far the worst in her studio, the instructors hardly ever corrected her. Now she was told off regularly for small things.
“Wow, you just sounded so much like my mom, it’s scary.” Kelly commented. His mother was extremely tough on him while in the studio. It seemed like the woman nagged at him if he didn’t blink to her standards. It was clear to him that Kelsie cared much more about the art than he did. “What’s your studio?” He asked out of curiosity.
“Did you? What’s that like? Don’t you ever miss school?” Charlie shrugged, toeing the grass in front of her.·“Theater is my social life, I guess. My dad worked in a theater while I was growing up, so I spent a lot of my time there. They’re like family and friends, all rolled into one. I don’t spend a lot of time with people outside of that group, really.”
“I miss my friends more than anything. I hardly ever see them anymore. I’m usually just surrounded by girls all day, which isn’t always a bad thing, but it gets tiring.” Kelly said. “So do you plan on going to school for theater, or are you going to try it professionally first?
