Thankful for all. There's too many to name.
Tala was my roommate for 4 of her 17 years... She stayed with me whenever Brad would go on tour for years after they moved out & I'm so grateful I got to say goodbye. She lived a long, rad life. She wasn't a huge fan of other dogs but she did love my Jackson (after she told him who was boss, repeatedly). RIP you crazy, loyal girl. You will be missed. 🌈❤️🐾

Be known, not perfect. That's something @jonacuff said. I have a problem with the drive to do things perfectly. It keeps me from doing so many things and I get overwhelmed before I even start because my expectations are so high. I mean, I have lived in my house for 11 years, overflowing with art to hang up and I literally just hung a gallery wall in my living room that I'd been planning for about 5 years, just last week. I want to know how to do it before I do it - if you know me, you know how much I adore reading through the entire direction manual before I use any new appliance or play a board game. But it's silly to think you can know how to do something fully before you've ever gone through the motions. Winter is my studio time. There's something about the lack of light outdoors that inspires me to create. In the past two years I haven't created much - I've been pretty stagnant, but this year is different. I have goals set and I've been diffusing this blend for the past few weeks in my house and in my studio. It smells mostly like cedarwood, sandalwood and spruce which make me feel calm & grounded - I just realized this feeling is how I feel when I go camping. Not all squirrelly, like I need to control an outcome. Honestly, I've never much felt I needed to control much about my art, it's the one place I can let everything go and not worry. Other areas of my life, notsomuch. I am consciously working to practice art more and I hope in turn this feeling will bleed out into my everyday life. And meditating is good for that too. I've got one day under my belt so far, but I'm starting and that's what matters right now.
#TBT to 2011. The year I carved a Justin Bieber pumpkin.

And the blood that runs through veins like a network of tree limbs.
All the dreams.
And... I had to go to Fry's today for work, I couldn't leave without a CD player. Might be a little known fact about me, but I have 1,000+ CDs in my collection from nearly every genre. I'm taking it back to the late 90's early 00's with this selection. I haven't had a working CD player for probably 7-8 years, and I couldn't walk out without one now even though they had 4 display models and only one available in an actual box. Spotify has most of what I want to hear, but not all of it. More proof I am a hoarder - but there's honestly nothing that can compare to opening a cd, checking out every single line of text, fonts, the feel and design of the inserts. The printmaker in me can't help it. Is it glossy or matte?
In the span of one week I lost two friends. I found a photo where they both existed in the same time and place. You can barely see Chris Wynn's head peeking out from behind Hoop. I found these framed together in my studio with the caption "friends" right in the middle of the collage. Hoop always had that gigantic smile on his face and was always laughing at something. I started Orange Friendly Silkscreen with Chris and I've spent the last few nights making art in my studio - I haven't been in here in a while. I woke up this morning to gather my stuff before work and I found that the silkscreen press wash has somehow sprung a leak- all of a sudden as its been sitting in the same space for years - the memory of that smell in Chris's garage brings it all back. Chris was such a catalyst for all kinds of projects. He could do a million things. I miss them both. Tell your friends you love them people, and how much they mean to you.
Art therapy.

It's true that music makes the blues disappear. It pretty much makes everything disappear, if even for only a moment. Crossing genres, @fishbonesoldier is legend. I'll take all the horns, thank you. ❤️🎶 #fishbone #fishbonesoldier (at Belly Up Tavern)
