Due to her muscle paralysis, the OIPA Partanna team had to feed Clara small meals 4-5 times a day. Now, with access to treatment, she can ingest more food and is gradually recovering.

Voices for the Voiceless | Darrell Sawczuk | The Raft | Kelp Social
Darrell Sawczuk has worked for Plant Based News for almost four years: striving to create awareness and educate people about the grim realities many animals face worldwide. Before Plant Based News, he worked as a zookeeper, giving him insight into the world of captive animals. Although the movie Okja was the catalyst for becoming vegetarian, being a zookeeper was what started his journey to veganism.
After realising that his love for the gorillas meant he couldn't see them in captivity anymore, he decided to leave the zoo and is now passionate about sharing his story and experiences while working for the organisation. He also arranges and attends vigils every month. These are deeply upsetting but are important to acknowledge the lives of animals that may otherwise be forgotten.
It was a pleasure to have Darrell on the show and to have him as the first guest on The Raft: Voice For the Voiceless, Kelp Social's podcast.

This mycelium and bamboo beehive can be grown at home to support the exclusive flourishing of native Irish black bees
Plummeting bee populations in Ireland are not only the result of habitat loss or pesticide use as is common elsewhere, but also because for years the country imported bee populations from warmer climates that have a hard time surviving the Irish weather.
Those introduced species bred with native bees to create hybrids that invaded black bee hives, but that still couldn’t cope with the weather.

Hey guys.
If any of y'all are near Chicago Illinois, a feral pigeon may need help.
This sad mess (described as "fell in oil and thin, but otherwise ok. Alert and in great appetite.") was brought to the practice where @vet-and-wild works.
They reached out to us to find a rescue, foster, or transport for them.
Great Lakes Pigeon Rescue is out that way and their contact has been shared with the pigeon's rescuer, but if we can't get hold of them or they are full, the oil slick feral will need either:
A foster in the area who can keep them at least until they are safe to ship,
Or a chain of people who can help transport them.
Please PM me for details and to be put in contact with the person currently looking after the bird or help share the need around.
By the way, new folks, we have a Discord Server for any one even remotely interested in any aspect of pigeon rescue. (And a contact list for pigeon friends who aren't on discord.)
We are working to develop a network of fosters, transports, and coordinators in every state to keep these domestic birds from clogging up wildlife rehab centers so they can focus their time, space, and resources on getting native wildlife back to the wild.
If you have any interest in that endeavor, you can also pm me with what you would like to do, the area you prefer to work in, and the contact information you are comfortable with sharing.
Thank you, Everyone!
If you're reading my blog because of Passenger and the great pigeon relay, consider contacting The Ramsey Loft to join the pigeon rescue network that's being built! Even if you don't have animal care experience, your skills as a driver could be invaluable.
Pigeons are gentle, goofy little critters that deserve the kind of love we humans used to offer them when we domesticated them thousands of years ago.
