John-
Would this photograph have the same impact now? I think this photo would have a similar impact in today’s society as it shows a great sense of pain in such a young victim that many people would be able to show sympathy with and feel sorry for.
Why or why not? I think the reason why the impact today would be similar is because as humans we can see pain in a timeless manner. when people look at this image they can feel the pain the young girl would have been going through this is something that doesn’t really change with time
What would you have done in this situation? In this situation I I think I would have taken a very similar approach as it doesn’t hide or cover anything up it shows the situation in quite a raw and untouched way.
Jodie-
Find out as much as you can about the image and the context of the image, i.e. when it was taken, what was happening around the situation?- The image Fire escape collapse also known as Fire on Marlborough Street was taken in 1975 by Stanley Foreman. There had been a fire in the building so a nineteen-year-old woman and her niece and God daughter waited on the rescue team to aid them down from the fire escape. But as the fireman climbed the ladder, the escape collapses, sending them hurdling past five stories through the air, the moment Foreman captures the image. The woman fell to her death, but her niece survived due to the landing cushioned by the woman's body.
What are the ethical implications of taking this photograph?- The ethical implications are it could be said that foreman could have intervened, done something to help like attempt to catch or cushion their fall.
What was the reaction from others at the time? - People were angry. As it circulated newspaper

this photo got our attention because of the lighting as it’s a very sharp cut and it works well with the placement of the cart and the human subject as well, the way the light cuts just in front of the cart is very pleasing to look at, although it is very well thought out i don’t think it was planned as it think the photographer just waited it out for a while to get the human subject in the right place.
In this image we can see 2 men laying on the ground although it leaves a lot of mystery with the way the man closet to the viewer is laying. while it could have a scene the photographer stumbled upon it could also be easy cheated. as this image is fairly close in we don't get to see much of the surrounding environment.
in this image we see people lounging and standing on this outdoor stair case, possibly waiting for someone/something or just enjoying their day. an image like this would be hard to cheat as it looks like each participant is unknowing of each other. as the image is not so tight in on the people i believe that it could have been taking in passing.

lost and found plan and outcome
For the lost and found shoot i plan to go to a small toy shop in battlefield and purchase a small metal/plastic thomas the tank engine figure or a small ninja turtle figure.
My first plan was to use the ninja turtle and have it coming out of a manhole/ circular drain like it is in the films/cartoons. I would plan to walk around the shawlands area near the railway stations and outside/ through pollok park. If i was to have no luck at all with finding circular manholes i would resort to plan B which is to go around the south side of glasgow and look for nice and rustic railway stations to have my thomas the tank engine train figure on the rail tracks although it was a real train.
In the end the search for a man hole was unsuccessful so i ended up going to pollokshaws west train station as it had a long line of railway track going round a large bend which i liked and thought would work well with the positioning of the train so i went and took lots of photos of the station and tracks from all angles and also went to pollokshaws east train station to do the same thing. I ended up with a lot of good and useable shots.
I went back home and set up a small studio area to take photos of the toy train figurine and tried to match the lighting and angle of the train as well as i could while looking at my chosen photo of the background at the time. I used a small artificial flash to mimic the sun in these studio photos and used a small reflector to help with the harsh light.
When editing these images i followed along the videos given to us by heather on my city and also used youtube to help me out with some more difficult parts in the editing stage.
In conclusion i am glad i had a backup option of an idea as the ninja turtle idea didn’t work out in the end. I enjoyed the challenge this brief gave me as i hadn’t done anything like this before or used really any photoshop skills yet. This was good as it helped me get a good idea of viewpoints and helped develop my photoshop skills too.
Architecture plan
For the architecture brief we are asked to find an interesting building along with an interesting interior. As soon as this brief launched i immediately knew i would be photographing Pollok House. This is about 25 minutes from my house so not difficult to access and it is a beautiful and aged building. I have been to this building many times so i know it would be perfect for this and for the inside part of it you can pay to take the tour which i don't mind doing as its a very interesting experience id like to have the opportunity to do again.
Ill be doing this shoot on Thursday afternoon just when the sun is fully up and hitting it at the correct angle so i can get bright sunny building shots while also having the light shine through the windows well.

File management
As seen on the left i used lightroom to store my images and have sectioned them into folders of each shoot to make my selection process much easier. I then also imputed them into folders on my one drive as a backup on my college account.
I made sure to put about 15 images into my finals folder on one drive so that way i can go through the best ones and pick out which ones are best to use. In this process i decide on my final 10 for submitting and then furthermore put my selected 5 to be printed into a different folder.
After this process i went onto the deadly digital website and sorted out which files i was sending away to get printed then dragged them over from the folder mentioned above to be sent away to be printed.
Optimisations
When optimising my images i removed some of the shadows and sharpened the images to define the cats fur more as well as the models hair and eyes. On some of the images i brightened the edges of the frame just to make the centre pop more and make sure it all matched.
