I'm going to sound a little insane I think and possibly connecting dots that aren't there but the drop of the shoulder injury in these latest articles did remind me of on the player's box podcast when they were talking about Jack using guts strings (i think). Madi said it was to help with his "shoulder injury" which at the time I thought she just misspoke and meant arm but since then it stuck in the back of my mind and this new info made me remember it again. Maybe he spoke to Jess about it or something and that's how she knew. And he's been managing that injury too since he switched the serve, so we've been kept in the dark yet again lol.

Jack has a history of should problems which literally sidelined him for a long time in 2023, a similar situation like in this year (tbh 2026 looks even worse right now). So if this shoulder issue is actually an ongoing issue he’s been managing and discussed with Jess who also had similar experience I wouldn’t be surprised. I’m wondering if he has changed the serve motion back and whether he’s still using guts, which I think he didn’t adapt really well.

Jack Draper is, as far as I'm aware, the only man to have ever performed a body-popping routine on a Wimbledon show court. The occasion was the 2018 boys singles final, and it was the first time I saw. Draper - then a slim, rangy 16-year-old - strike a tennis ball. Naturally right-handed, he played as a leftie and seemed to crush forehands off both sides. But it was his swagger that stayed with me, and probably many of the 10,000 spectators on Wimbledon's Court One. He didn't win the title, against Taiwanese top seed Tseng Chun-hsin, but the body-popping - busted out after Draper theatrically saved a match point - suggested he was very much at home at the world's most famous tennis tournament. "I saw a video of that the other day, and half of me was cringing, and then the other half was like, 'You know what! It was amazing, because I was just very free, and I was really enjoying the moment," recalls Draper, when we speak in May. It is the day after he was photographed in a Burberry car coat with some nonplussed-looking waterfowl for this issue. Back to Junior Wimbledon 2018: "It's weird, because I'm not like that at all in any way. Maybe I am, maybe I lost that over time, I don't know. But it was nice to see it. It’s been so long since last time I read a long interview from Jack and it’s lovely to see he still called his old polo “little go-kart”.

omg what interview? can you link? did he do one after becoming his coach?

Andy came to the Queen’s Club today so I think he received a collective interview because multiple newspapers released the interview with similar wordings, for example, the guardian, the times, the sun (I know they had a bad reputation but their sports news department is growing and building up their credibility in football so I don’t think they’re making up things).

I read articles on the guardian and the sun, but the times had a paywall and I couldn’t get over it using my old method so I gave up. Anyway the major contents are quite similar:

Andy said Jack was preparing for coming back on court in the past weeks and he spent “a decent amount time” with him. From tennis perspective Andy thought Jack is “bloody good”. He just needs to come back competing consistently and building up confidence in his body again.

Andy said Jack is “supposed to be” playing in eastbourne. From the wording of the sun’s report I think it’s still not determined yet.

Per the guardian, Jack got a shoulder problem on his serving shoulder which was his “latest set back” , while the sun also mentioned the shoulder problem. Could be occurrences of his old issue. But considering he withdrew from the Queen’s all of a sudden I guess it was a recent occurrence.

The partnership between Andy and Jack could continue for the build up to the US Open. But Andy insisted he would not travel with players week in week out at this stage.

I strongly suggest everyone who is interested to read those articles and maybe you can get some different insights apart from contents above. I have mine and at this point I’ll just keep it for myself.

I love that he's getting to spend literally any time with Andy, pick on his brain and get his support. I'll still appreciate it if that's all we get, but is it too much to ask for we get to see it happening with our own eyes, on a courtside, at least once? Now Andy's giving a therapeutic dose of hope and I'm drinking it 🤍 but just be okay 🤍 if okay means grass, after grass or whenever...que sera sera. Murray, on a rare trip to Queen’s Club, told SunSport: “Jack is supposed to be playing in Eastbourne next week."

“He’s been training and getting ready for that. He’s been on the court most days for the last few weeks."

“His tennis is bloody good. But he’s obviously had lots of issues the last year with the various injuries. And I feel like he’s starting to come out the other side of that now. The next step is getting on the match court and getting a consistent run of tournaments and weeks under him, and building trust again in his body.”

“I really like Jack (♡), and I wanted to help him when he asked if I could. But I was quite clear about what it is I could and couldn’t do.”

Travelling every week on the tour, Murray explained “is not something that I want to do right now, and it’s why there’s very few coaching jobs that I could potentially help with. The fact that he lives 30 minutes away allows us to spend a lot more time together than what would be the case with a player from Spain or America: that’s just not going to work, and you wouldn’t feel like you’re actually able to help them."

“If that wasn’t something that worked for him, then that was also absolutely fine. But I said I’d still love to help you if you would like that."

“So yeah, I get to spend a decent amount of time with Jack. I also believe a lot in his tennis. In the sessions I’ve done with him, I’ve been more impressed probably than what I expected. And I thought he was bloody good before I started helping him. He’s a quick learner. He’s got very few holes in his game. He’s a more complete player than probably what I expected as well.”

“He’s asked for me to help him over this next period. I’ve enjoyed being on court with him. We’ll see how the next few weeks pan out.”
