Hello, Mr. Tyrant 🖤
A shorter thought about Johnathan, but sometimes I wonder if he's always wanted to be a ship captain? It sounds silly to say out loud, and with how he's grown up, maybe he has. Though I can imagine growing up with a family tree of other captains/sailors, including his own brother and constantly demeaning, neglectful, and verbally abusive parents he wanted approval from mighhhhhhht have impacted his career choice growing up.
As nice as I want to be to Johnathan, whether due purely from his parents neglect or something else with him, he is majorly unfit to be a captain, if his grades being the worst in the academy weren't enough, there are scenes where he's crashed into docks trying to park the ship, and one where Pedro has to stay by his side to turn off any buttons or levers he pulls that are clearly wrong so nothing bad happens to the ship. Maybe he has always wanted to be a captain, but part of me likes to believe that when he was way younger, he might've thought of something else (my personal HC is a gardener/botanist for future reasoning I'll explain in a future post), though that thought would've very quickly been snubbed out by his family.
Decided to re-do my screenshot edit!…Since my oc has actually been paired with Nico for a while now, will post more Nikhoi stuff eventually! They’d definitely enjoy a nice cruise date more than how the actual one went…(Original under the cut)
Captain Fall AMV - “Ruler of my heart” (Cover by bumblingbeeboo on YouTube
So I was rewatching Captain Fall and it suddenly hit me.
Captain Jonathan Fall is in the picture below.
This is Jonathan Fall's parents and brother.
These three look like they fit and they are all Grade A assholes.
But there is another element involved. This is the family maid, Consuela.
It's clear that she adores Jonathan, even if she keeps her silence on how he is treated. The Fall parents and brother all have blue eyes, but not Jonathan. His eyes are brown.
Yup...brown. And Jonathan gets treated like shit by all of the Fall's. I'm thinking that maybe Consuela had a male relative, the son maybe, who had an affair with Mrs. Fall and she got pregnant. Mr. Fall had to claim it because it had blond hair. Plus he was a captain and away most of the time so he probably didn't realize Jonathan wasn't his until it was too late not to create a scandal.
There is also another theory of mine. I believe that Pedro and Jonathan are related through Consuela.
As the show progresses it becomes clear that even though Pedro tried to keep a level of distance between himself and Captain Fall because he is just one in a long line of captains he needed to dispose of, he affection for Captain Fall grows without his permission. I believe it's because they are kin.
But the show only had 10 episodes so we will never know.
(Hehe ty for tagging me!!!)
And honestly, part of me also thought there was something deeper than just Consuela being regularly affectionate towards Johnathan
My first thought was an affair between Consuela and Mr. Fall/Blake himself, as Tanner mentions in his more focused episode (5 - Je Suis Tanner) that Consuela has been working with the family for thirty years while Johnathan is 29, though Gene wise unless both Consuela and Blake have recessive blonde genes, another relative with Mrs. Fall could also be possible.
I do enjoy the thought of Consuela being Johnathans mother just cause I think its very sweet though, would also add to the whole "we had consuela breastfeed him" think in the family reunion episode. Pedro and Johnathan being relatives is something I never thought about though!!
Had this on TikTok but I’ll share it here too (Liza and Johnathan edit)
So, guess whos back to talking about Captain Fall again
Though nothing too long, I just wanted to point out (cornplate) how Johnathans parents treat him normally Vs after finding out he got offered to become a captain
Johnathan comes home from being both at work and his classes all day, and the plate his parents give him for dinner after basically keeping him away from the party going down in their actual house is: Two pieces of asparagus, two slices of meat and a singular shrimp. Its noted how much weaker and lankier he is compared to everyone else in the show, especially for being canonically 29 years old, leading me to think he's consistently underfed.
Alongside this, after his ladder is taken away so he wouldn't come down to the party, his father forgets to put it back up in the morning. Johnathan, however, is already prepared for it, tying a bunch of the same colored sheets together to climb down with practiced ease. It's all the same color which makes me think this wasn't a rushed job, but potentially his emergency makeshift rope after being forgotten in his treehouse numerous times.
Comparing that to the morning his mother finds out he got an invite from the Caribbean queen to become a captain. His ladder is in place, and he gets a personal wake up from them before being told to actually come inside for breakfast.
He gets what looks like 5-6 pancakes, two sausages, scrambled eggs and some orange juice (what should've been the standard for him but shhh) and the most confusing morning of his life with his parents playing nice with him. I keep saying "season 2 could've given us (insert thing)" a lot, but this beginning episode, and "family reunion" especially exploring his relationship dynamic with his family were very interesting to me, and I wish we could've gotten more time for Johnathan to really start figuring out (or through my interpretation, be less non-confrontational) to his famliys treatment of him.
SOMEONE needs to make the random ship edits…and edits in general
Man, why is it impossible to find overlooked cartoons to actually binge based on genuine curiosity? And not just because it has some baddie in it.
I mean goddamn! 😍🥵😩

Oh Liza how I wish the public could appreciate the baddie you are, I need to get back on the edit grind for her
What I need is S2 of Captain Fall on Netflix.
It’s honestly a bummer Johnathan’s attempts to be romantic, setting up a dinner date for Liza were just an annoyance for Liza who was planning to technically cheat on him during the singles cruise. Like she set up becoming a romantic interest for him to keep him distracted, being the one to give off the vibes of being into him and any time he tries to give that suppose interest back genuinely, it’s very clear she can’t really reciprocate. Like she was barley even trying tonight to hide her disinterest towards him, considering the times she atleast kept a smile on.
Like right after the dinner night/party she dropped her accent to vent about him getting in her way of getting hooked up, BEING IN THE WAY OF TECHNICALLY CHEATING ON HIM!
Not just her but the crew. It’s clear a lot of the time for them, it’s awkward to talk to Johnathan(guy did not get enough socialization). Liza tried to knock him out during an evening hang, the doctor had to stop her. She legit the one who feels the most caring about him & his wellbeing.
And THIS moment really hurts cause this was right AFTER she saw how bad his home situation was & began to feel genuinely bad for him & him opening up to seeing her & the crew as his real family. Though honestly it’s realistic considering the kinda people she & the crew r. They have those moments of humanity/regret but in the end they’ve come very far with the things they’ve done & will get the job done, a jobs a job. Even with those moments, Johnathan is sadly a means to an end for them💔
I like to imagine S2 it’d have explored the crew & Liza truly starting to grow attached to Johnathan & him kinda winning them over, getting along. Not just simply an act.
Also I lowkey wish for Gunther’s whole “stand up bit” could’ve led to Johnathan giving him the chance to do his routine for the singles cruise.
What do u think? I’d love to know💖
Where is my Dr. Russell x Johnathan /j No but for real that might've been the most disappointing part for me, I get that Liza isn't gonna fall for the guy automatically after the previous episode, but after watching Liza...in the nicest was possible, "knock some sense" into his brother to have him be kind to Johnathan for just that visit, feeling bad when Johnathan said the ship was his real family, I thought we could've at least had more nice moments. Liza is unfortunately too deep in the trafficking life it seems.
Not as active on this account cause of other interests + college starting up, but MAN what I would've given for a Captain Fall season 2. I liked season 1 a lot don't get me wrong, but I just know that cliffhanger was leading to what could've been an awesome continuation. Would Johnathans naivety finally start to crumble for his "new family" once theres reasonable doubt in his mind not to trust the ship crew? In my personal interpretation, with his bio family he deep deep somewhere down knows they're awful to him, and I think its both a mix of how sheltered he was raised alongside not wanting any more conflict and resentment than there already is that he chooses to be too passive, innocent, again naive. He wants to keep seeing people from the best lenses he can. What he thought was a proper family that finally treated him kindly, now has major cracks that he finally cant ignore because of detective steel, and maybe then old memories start to seem much less fond and innocent, he starts noticing when hes being redirected somewhere else for odd reasons, or crew members leaving and coming back with specks of "red paint". What I would've GIVEN for Johnathan to even start suspecting Liza, of both being part of something worse than it seems, but also faking her feelings for him, for them to grow suspicious of each other, all while Johnathans fall is slowly coming with the "evidence" Steel collected, leading to him to have to stop ignoring whats in front of him to dig for the truth himself. (Might draw something relating to this...)
I watched that show Captain Fall awhile back. It got mixed reception on account of how dark & awkward the humour could get(I read there was a bit of cultural differences with the humour). I feel like the show def had potential! Especially in terms with Johnathan and his innocence amongst the corrupted cruise. I think it could’ve been good if they centered more around that like when he was entertaining those smugglers & the kids in Cultural Exchange. I think the show needed more moments like that, good chunk he was knocked out or when they were lying to him, didn’t take too much to trick him. Like don’t get me wrong, it makes sense, but maybe they visible played with that more(then again it ended on just 1 season so maybe they had more in store but didn’t get the chance)
Imagine if it focused more on him getting to be involved with cruise stuff while they were doing illegal stuff & the crew having to actually juggle that while also keeping him in the dark with the cruise charade! That’s pretty good B-Plot stuff, him trying his best to be a legit captain, with the crew having to constantly hide their illegal activity from him/distract him with actual/fake jobs for his job as their “Captain”. I also think it could’ve been good to empathize on his good/genuine nature amongst everyone else. Show him being a truly sweet person & actually bringing out a lil better in people, them being genuinely surprised of his honesty & sincerity. Especially since they’ve been so used to schemes & cruelty. Especially to make them feel guilty for their plans of using him as a future fall guy. I really do think the show had some good stuff & potential, and with a few tweaks could’ve been a great series.
What do u think? I’d love to know💖
I haven't properly ranted about CF till now (ALSO YAY SOMEONE ELSE POSTING ABOUT IT) this is gonna be long sooo bare with me. I would've loved more episodes like the cultural exchange as well, that one, and family reunion have to be my favorite, cultural exchange for showing Johnathans blind kindness to others actually paying off! Even if that meant helping the criminals but uhhh, lets ignore that. Family reunion is my favorite as it let Liza see more of what made Johnathan their perfect pick for their fall guy...which was a much more horrid realization than hinted at throughout Johnathans previous dialogue (By that I mean the instance in episode 2 where Liza tells him that the crew is "like family" to which he responds "Aw, bummer"), Liza felt not only pity for Johnathan, not even a sense to help/protect him by practically torturing his brother so he'd be nice to him, but guilt over the fact that the nicest family he now has are lying straight to his face about why he's even their captain. Its also my favorite cause in my personal opinion, it helps me believe that Johnathan isn't as naive as he comes off, at least, not unknowingly. While on his way back home he's very clearly dreading it, his hands full on shaking when talking to Liza about his family, part of him truly is naive and sheltered because of his upbringing, but I like to think that deep in his heart he knows whats wrong with his family, its just better to try and keep seeing things through a positive light, minimize confrontation, to do whatever his family wants him to do so that they don't hate him more than they already do. I wish we could've gotten a season 2 that could've built Johnathans confidence up more, make him more suspicious, wary, confused, force him to stop seeing things through the rose tinted glasses he'd glued to his face like he's done his entire life to keep himself happy. I may be analyzing a silly adult comedy Netflix show too much for what its worth, but I just enjoy seeing the potential in things.
YAHOOOOOOO!!!!!!
I'd love if he'd really let Liza have it once it's all revealed
Johnathan-Its one thing to screw me over...but making me think u actually cared....I should've known better
If it isn’t the stereotypical Johnathan gets with Liza after taking down Mr. Tyrant and live happily ever after running his own ship, I always imagined a scene where Johnathan would visit Liza in jail after proving his own innocence after spending time on the ship working to gather evidence to clear his name all on his own with newfound clarity and confidence.
Maybe telling her off in there, but some part of me feels like he’d also tell Liza that he hopes he can be the better person that he knows she could be, that he saw glimpses of. Even while grown I don’t think his spark of genuine kindness could ever be taken away, especially with how sweet he is normally in the show after living with such an awful family.
I’d legit love that. Part of me hopes Liza grows enough conscience to take the fall and just when she’s at tyrants mercy, Johnathan saves her & the crew with the help of Agent Steele. They still have to go to jail themselves though because they did a lot of crime but still
And Liza and John could sort on bittersweet terms. He was hurt by their lies but….grateful they were in his life
Well NOW I think the world deserves some captain fall fan fiction with this ending cause I love it so much
