Kentucky Underground’s Photographer, Damien of You Can Only Imagine, had the opportunity to check out The Dear Hunter at The Thompson House in New Port, KY. Here’s some of the photos taken, and what he has to say about that night.
I first want to start out by quickly talking about how much that night/event meant to me just in the general sense of being a human. This event was my first event to obtain press passes! Not only that but The Dear Hunter happens to be one of IF NOT my favorite band of all time. So this event was monumental to say the least for me. Now off to the band and their performance of that night.
The Dear Hunter is one of those bands that if you were to ask me what they sound like I couldn’t give you a straight answer. I just end up saying something on the lines of “FUCKING EPIC BEYOND PROPORTION”, and that’s pretty much all I can say about The Dear Hunter. This is because you can’t really pin point a sound that defines this band. Every song is always a bit different than the last, or they’ll hit you with a twist and make things funky with a disco styled song. They’re unpredictable, and I love it!
As far as their performance goes this is a MUST SEE band. The energy that night was alive, and you could tell that the band really loves what they do and gives it their all while performing. (I especially loved to watch their drummer perform, and those faces he makes.) It was hard for me to not put down the camera to go play in the crowd and sing along to their songs.
All n all if this is a band you haven’t checked out yet, treat yourself one day and give them a listen. One of Providences Rhode Islands finest has about 6 full lengths albums providing you with over 100 songs that will take you on a roller coaster of emotion. If they can’t capture your soul with that much content, then you might just not have a soul to begin with, and should probably get that checked out.

Picturesque Record Label Release Show| w/ Boys of Fall and Nick Cooper | Black Box Theater | October 24th, 2015
Pt. 2
Skylar of Vitium Photography covered this event at the Black Box Theater in Lexington, KY. This show was packed full of some of Lexington’s finest in the music scene. Detroit’s Boys of Fall took the stage and demolished it. One minute singing softly then switching to screams. Nick Cooper went up next to play an acoustic set of This Season’s Color songs. Lastly, was Picturesque who was celebrating signing to Equal Visions and releasing their EP. They put on one hell of a show including fans throughout the set and killer vocals.
Everyone go check out the bands along with Vitium.

Pt. 1
Skylar of Vitium Photography covered this event at the Black Box Theater in Lexington, KY. This show was packed full of some of Lexington’s finest in the music scene. Polterguise started the show off with some acoustic jams. Vena Cava followed them with singer Ivana’s killer vocals and an equally talented band backing her. Next up was Trending Now who featured a Weezer cover in their set. Ø Galaxies Ø hit the stage with their melodic guitar and Fred’s epic dreads. Last in this post was Artica who killed the set with their high energy performance. Check out the bands and the rest of the show on Pt. 2.

Hank & Cupcakes | Al’s Bar | October 23rd, 2015 | Covered By: Skylar/Vitium
This was the second time I had the pleasure of photographing Hank & Cupcakes at Al’s. They have passion and chemistry on stage beyond any word that I could type. And of course they had the entire bar dancing to the beats. This two piece band left New York to tour the US and eventually move down south to record. So if you see them coming to an area near you, stop what you are doing and check them out. It will be well worth it.

Bloody Diamonds | w/ Damage Therapy | Al’s Bar | September 29th, 2015
Toronto based, Bloody Diamonds put on one hell of a show at Al’s Bar in Lexington, KY for their last show of the tour. Sara Elizabeth’s powerful gritty vocals set against the heavy riffs of Jake Seaward create songs that you have to move to. Even when breaking a string on the last song, Jake continued to kill the set. Everyone go check them out

Kentucky Underground’s photographer Skylar Davis had the chance to cover MoonTower Festival in Lexington, KY this past weekend. This is Pt. 2 of 3 from the event. Stay tuned for pt 3 tomorrow!
MoonTower was epic. If you didn’t make it out I feel bad for ya, but you should go ahead and plan on going next year. It will be worth it. It was a beautiful day other than a small rain shower that came through. But even that was a great time to meet new people as we huddled into a covered tent.
Bands Featured: Heyrocco, Brave Baby, Parker Millsap, Mike Mains & the Branches, and Ben Sollee.

Tee Dee Young brought the house down with his blues. He killed it and even came down to play with the crowd for a song. Tyler Childers is a local Americana musician. I have been lucky enough to see him a couple times, both I left speechless. So be sure to check out ALL the bands listed below. You won’t regret it.
Pictured here is Coralee & the Townies, Tee Dee Young, Tyler Childers, and Buffalo Rodeo.
Kentucky Underground’s Photographer, Skylar, had the opportunity to check out Taking Back Sunday at 4th Street Live in Louisville. Here is some of the images and a lil write up.
What can I say about this night?
First, if you have a chance to see Greek Fire live, go see them. They put on one of the best opening shows I have seen. Phil Sneed, lead singer, spent most of the set running around through crowds giving high fives, running up to the surrounding buildings balcony's to sing and to get a drink, and trusting his fans to hold him up while he stood on railing. The whole band was high energy and great! And as they would say “Bring your dancing shoes and singing voices”.
Now, Taking Back Sunday. To be honest, I have been a huge fan since I was 11 and Tell All Your Friends was released. Not to mention that the album has gotten me through every bad break-up I have had. So naturally, this night meant a lot to me. TBS put on one epic show and played for two hours. I repeat TWO HOURS. With the fans packed in front of the stage and lined up all around the venue’s different levels, it was a packed house. Every song being played was echoed with the fans singing right back to them. Adam, lead singer, still had the moves as he danced around the stage in his black boots and threw the microphone around like it was no body’s business, most of the time allowing it to wrap around his neck. TBS wouldn’t be, and wasn’t, the same without John performing back up vocals with his ability to sing like an angel and scream with as much angst as he had years ago. With 6 albums under their belt, another on the way, and over 14 years of music, the show was a mix of them all. So whether you are a die hard fan, just like the old stuff, or new to Taking Back Sunday, they are a must see in concert.
The Kentucky Underground photographer Skylar, ventured out to Cosmic Charlies for the CD Release show put on by Ford Theatre Reunion. It was magical to see so many people come together for the love of local music. All of the performers put on one hell of a show. Check out all the them in the links below.

Say hello to Skylar Davis, owner of Vitium Photography. See her work here.
Skylar is a internationally published portrait and music photographer based out of Lexington, KY. Creating images that captures the essence of the music being performed has been her passion since she was 15. Music has always served as an outlet for her inner creativity. It was what ignited Skylar’s passion for photography and drove her to become a professional. Through music photography she can convey specific emotions expressed by the performers. Creating light paintings from the stage lights, exit signs, and equipment, she is able to let the music transcend into an image. A lot of Skylar’s newer work uses the artificial light from the stage to capture the ambiance without using flash.
