“I can imagine,” she nodded. “America, though? That’s really interesting. I have yet to make a visit, but I hope to soon. I’ve always wanted to go. See New York City, LA, play tourist for a while.”

She was happy to be in love with the perfect woman, she couldn’t have asked for anything better than this. Peyton grinned at her words, feeling a sense of triumph. “When we move to Scotland are you going to let me decorate for it, too?”

“You can do whatever you want when we go back to Scotland,” Rowena said with a smile. “You’ll have a corner of the castle just for you to dress up for your July christmas,” she chuckled.

She felt happy to get the words out there, and she was especially glad that Rowena felt the same way about her. Peyton let out a small laugh as she was flipped onto her back, and moaned as Rowena’s lips moved to her throat. Her hand came to grip onto the witches waist and she tilted her head back to give her more access.

Rowena smiled into Peyton’s neck as she pressed kisses to it. She rocked her hips down onto her fiance to provide the friction that she wanted. “I’m going to fuck you so hard,” she said softly. “All you have to do is tell me how you wanted. I could bring out any toy you want.”

“I am quite the sucker for fun,” she teased, leaning in to give her another quick kiss. She loved Rowena, and she was definitely looking forward to ‘sleepovers’ with her fiance. “I’m not ridiculous, I’m just a girl who happens to have Christmas spirit. Don’t kill my Christmas in July pride. December is so far away.”

Rowena laughed at Peyton’s tease. She loved this woman in a way she had never loved another person before. And it just felt so good that she couldn’t be anything but so happy. “Alright. I will give you your christmas in July.”

“She tried to kill me,” she stated simply even though they both knew she wouldn’t place nice regardless. “I don’t play nice— so perhaps I should have Elias snap her neck.”

“Yes, she told me all about that,” Rowena said seriously. “She wanted her grimoire back, and you wouldn’t give it. She had no intention of killing you, Bridget. If I know you as well as I do, I know you wouldn’t have given it up without a fight.”

“There’s a lot of dead Finley’s, would you like me to bring them back too?” It was a stupid counterargument but Rowena was used to them and Bridget would never stop using them. “Yes, I can— she’s been dead and perfectly fine with the rest of our ancestors. She should have no issue returning. Perhaps I’ll give her an iPhone, that could freak her back to the grave.”

Rowena sighed and shook her head. "Play nice, Bridge. They're not here, she is, and we're going to be nice and friendly and welcoming while she's here." She knew her sister wasn't going to let this go, but she didn't mind. She was used to this.

“I’ve gotta say, that sounds much more enticing than a sleepover with a group of girls,” she said with a small smirk. “Private sleepovers are obviously the best kind.” She couldn’t wait to be married to Rowena, it was something she had been looking forward to for a very long time. “I think red compliments you so well, and so does the green. Tacky is cute, anyways.”

“Mmm you and I will definitely have a lot more fun that’s for certain,” Rowena mused with a smirk, thinking about just how good they could make each other feel. She rolled her eyes with a smile. “Fine, fine, my dear. You’re ridiculous. But I adore you.”

“I don’t know, it kinda feels like my loss because I never really got to have sleepovers or anything of the sort,” she said, shrugging. “Awe, come on, Rowena. You look incredible. Besides, it’s July. Haven’t you ever heard of Christmas in July?”

“Well now you get a lifetime of sleepovers with me,” Rowena teased. She liked the idea of marriage just being an endless sleepover with her best friend. She laughed. “Touche, my dear, touche. The point remains.”

“No, not really,” she said, shaking her head. “I didn’t exactly have an abundance of friends growing up. My parents were too scary.” She nodded, leaning in to give her fiance a quick kiss. “Of course, Rowena. I think every color is your color. Is that biased?”

“Their loss,” Rowena said, smiling into the kiss. She giggled and flushed at the compliment. “Perhaps a little. You can’t make me blush, red and green any time other than christmas is so tacky,” she teased.

“I think they’re very interesting, I like seeing how creative people are with their outfits,” she replied. “It does kind of feel like that, I mean, I’ve never been to a costume party, but I imagined it’d feel similar to this.” Peyton smiled at her words. “Those portraits paid off, you look positively stunning.”

“Never?” Rowena asked, a little surprised. “Not even as like, a child for a birthday party?” She flushed at the compliment. “Thank you, my love. I’ve been told emerald is my color. I’m not sure, but I’ll take what I can get.”

“I agree completely. It’s so nice to be able to get a break from all of this,” she replied, nodding. “I like being here and just dancing with my fiance and not having a care in the world.”

“I especially am enjoying all the period outfits,” she chuckled. “It feels like a big costume party. Gives us a chance to explore history. I looked through old family portraits for inspiration.”

Peyton nodded, placing her other hand on Rowena’s shoulder, unsure of where else to place it. Dancing wasn’t exactly her greatest talent, but she wanted to learn. She smiled in agreement, understanding the thought process all too well. “I know what you mean. This ball is probably what most of the castle needed.”

Rowena smiled as the two of them started swaying to the music. “I love being able to just have fun without it being the wedding of someone I hardly know, you know? It’s a nice change of pace to have something to actually do here.”

“No need to thank me,” she said, smiling. Peyton didn’t know what she wanted to do first, but she appreciated her fiances determination to make her first ball pleasant. “I think I’m fine with just dancing.”

Rowena took Peyton’s hand and pulled her out onto the dance floor. “Dancing it is,” she smiled. She placed her unoccupied hand on Peyton’s waist as they started dancing. “This feels like a breath of fresh air. Even with the weddings. It’s nice to just...be.”

“Callie,” she echoed with wide eyes, “ you like her? Enough to fight for her life?” It seemed absurd that Rowena could get so easily attached to someone, especially when it was someone whose existence went against nature. “She’s not supposed to be alive, Rowie. It defies what you believe in. Your magic.”

“She’s still a Finley. Which makes her my family. And as discussed, dear sister, I do not give up on family. She’s still a young woman afraid of death and can you blame her?”

“What I deserved,” she corrected her with a smirk, as conceited as ever. “Oh, we haven’t talked about our dead ancestor that showed up out of nowhere— she said she would help me but she’s falling apart too so I doubt she’ll be much help. Besides, wouldn’t it be hilarious if I said ‘I do’ before collapsing on the floor. I wouldn’t mind dying in my wedding dress.”

“Callie is a bit of a curiosity,” she mused. “But I will get you both fixed, you mark my words.” She wagged her finger at Bridget. “Because I’m not giving up on either of you that easily.”

“I wasn’t bothered about my future spouse as long as it was a king or queen and a vampire— the idea of having to marry a,” her words came to a halt when she remembered that Rowena was indeed going to marry a werewolf. “Uh— yes, it’s going well but I haven’t told him that I’m, you know, dying. So that’s awkward.”

“You got just what you wanted, as usual,” Rowena teased, glad Bridget hadn’t finished her thought. “You’re not going to die, Bridget. Because I promised you that we were going to find a way around that and we are.”
