So it goes all back to that Trojans vs. Foxes game, where Kevin talked to Jeremy about Jean. The arrangements to do the team switch were in the works that night.
After that, it constituted of msn chats between Kevin, Jeremy and Jean because Kevin wanted to have updates on his old friend and still felt bad about everything that had happened.
Jeremy had been the one to suggest the idea of making a group conversation since he doesn’t believe in secrets being something healthy between people with whom you are close.
At the Fall Banquet that year, the trio had worked around differences and Jean was getting more comfortable being with the Trojans but he still felt it like a hit to the gut when he saw his old team and then he just went inside.
He didn’t know when he left the court but Jeremy and Kevin were quick on their feet, following him to make sure he would be safe because it was their fault if Jean was in that situation and they also wanted to make sure the ex-raven would be safe from himself and from others. Renee was keeping watch from the outside door.
When Kevin and Jeremy found Jean, the latter was in the middle of a panic attack. Kevin being aware of all the hints and tricks he developed with Jean was the first one to crouch in front of him and to talk Jean into breathing normally again. Jeremy soon followed, helping with the bits and pieces he had gotten ever since Jean had transferred.
Somehow, Jean ends up calmer than before and reluctantly wraps his arms around both Jeremy and Kevin, and they help Jean stand up. With a quiet understanding, Jeremy and Kevin agree that it would be better for the Trojans to leave the banquet now.
After the Banquet, Kevin decides to catch up more often with both Jeremy and Jean, to follow the progress they go through.
It is a mutual agreement that Kevin flies to SoCal for thanksgiving because he knows it would be better for Jean to have one more friend by his side for an event like that.
Both Jeremy and Kevin are surprised when Jean offers his thanks for the past year, and how much both men are a great part of it. Many glasses of wine are drank that night. Wine changed to something stronger as the night advanced, mostly by Kevin’s doing.
So with more alcohol in their system, the three of them get a lot more chatty and they exchange a lot more than what had already been said on MSN. Kevin is more of a touchy feelsy drunk and he catches himself resting his hand on Jean’s thigh.
And it soon becomes obvious that neither of them care about the proximity. Jean still raises an eyebrow at Kevin because it felt a little out of practice but still pleasant. Jeremy is just leaning into Jean at that point, both because he is drunk tired and because he thinks Jean smells good.
That night, none of them feel like being alone is a good idea, so they agree to sleep in the same bedroom. Jean and Jeremy share the same room but Kevin was wise enough to bring a sleeping bag.
Jeremy asks with a pleading tone to Jean if he means if they sleep together so they can let Kevin use the other bed. It ends up that both beds are put together and the three of them share blankets.
It wasn’t planned to happen that way but over the night, everyone ends up being tangled up with everyone, Kevin having one of his arms thrown over Jeremy’s stomach, and Jean resting his hand over Jeremy’s chest.
The first to wake up the next morning is Jeremy, true to his habit. A lazy grin appears on his face, dimples digging in his cheeks. His stirring awakes Jean who brings his hand to his eyes and rubs the slumber out of them.
Jeremy stifles a laugh at the way Jean is looking and he whispers loud enough for Jean to hear: “You look great in my bed.” which made Jean flush beet red. But his answer is a quiet “y’ too. …morning.” after which the taller one puts a foot on the floor but decides against waking up all the way and goes back under the covers.
Kevin is the last one to wake up and he does so to Jeremy pecking his cheek. His eyes fly open wide at the soft touch and they are filled with questions, though no disgust. After all, Kevin Day could never feel disgust from Jeremy Knox, who he considers to be the reincarnation of the sun.
After that, it’s just the three of them understanding what happened and not minding one bit of it. Of course, it’s a bit unprecedented, since none of them had acknowledged the way they felt about one another but Jeremy just like many other times was the catalyst of it all. It doesn’t take time before the morning turns into a session of cuddles and kisses.
The pressure that had built up around one another crashes down that morning, just like the walls of distrust that could still have remained. That morning is when Kevin and Jeremy express their thanks and it just makes much more sense to Jean now.
A couple weeks go by after that eventful morning but it is only at the Christmas banquet that the trio agree to start a relationship. Jeremy, Jean and Kevin present an united front against the Ravens’ wrath and for once, Jean feels safe and sure nothing bad will ever happen to him again.
