I love how there are already fans after seeing the season 9 trailer telling Maggie to shut up for standing up to Rick.
In the trailer Maggie says literally nothing threatening to Rick nor is she even being unreasonable.
Telling him his OWN WORDS from the beginning of season 8 “After this, I’m following you.” Rick then turned around and saved Negan without so much as a hint he would do such a thing after months of them fighting, even after breaking a plan to go try and kill Negan, and tells Maggie this until a few episodes later suddenly has Negan saved. He never even tried to explain to Maggie and instead Michonne held her back while she sobbed as the man who BEAT HER HUSBANDS HEAD IN RIGHT IN FRONT OF HER.
The man who MADE JOKES ABOUT IT, taunted everyone all while Maggie, sick and pregnant at the time could only sob and watch on. That same man would have gone to Maggie and tried making her one of his “wives” if she hadn’t hid from him at Hilltop. Maggie had been patient this entire war. Forgiving Daryl and making the Hilltop stronger TILL RICK. Came to her and told her they need to fight. She does, and then when trying to end the war, again, Rick blindsided Maggie.
All she tells him is she is a leader. Rick is most likely asking her for supplies to help the Sanctuary. He wants her to give up the benefits of her leadership but ignores her voice as a leader. Rick wants everyone to work together but have him be the main voice that can overrule anyone else. If Rick wanted that, then he would have consulted the group before slitting Negan’s throat leaving Negan in a situation where a decision needed to be chosen now. He should have had him arrested and then a vote.
I love Rick Grimes, he’s my favorite character of all time, but Maggie isn’t wrong here and I’m really tired of all the fans calling her selfish and annoying when rarely taking in the whole picture.
