okay so in short- my thoughts. notes for my oc.

wuya is born. a yaoguai taken, raised and nurtured for the purpose of another's gain. an important aspect of her writing is the illusion of freedom. the idea that her life was decided for her, and she was guided by others under the pretense of fate and destiny. the gods love to gamble and they put value into things like power and immortality. so them playing with a life like this isn't entirely outside the bounds of possibility. ofc this is just my base lore for her so i can be flexible and take liberties. but i love folklore and myth, so i like having SOME rules in place, things i have to work around.

she's a shapeshifter. always has been. but wuya was technically born a woman. it's just that her body has always felt malleable, and she's had the understanding that the body and soul can be taken as separate parts of a singular whole. this ability has ALSO been very important to her, and the ways she embodies freedom.

her revenge and following ' villain era ' was long, and full of ... well wuya did a lot very horrible things tbh. a great deal of which was spent trying to find a way to free herself from the grip of the celestial courts. as much as i 'girl boss' her up and joke about her being terrifying- this period of her life was quite miserable. despite how powerful wuya was ( and is ), she's still limited by the laws that bind her.

the only person who can truly kill wuya, is wuya herself. a common thing i've found among immortals in these myths and fables. but wuya is both too prideful to do that, and truly wishes to find another way. some other path, to relive her life in a way she wants and believes she is owed. no such luck though, nnnot really. it's complicated.

reincarnation was found to be the key. wuya was very dead-set on NOT dying, but found that through reincarnation and death- she could potentially find a way to be free of the binding she's been put into since her birth. each incarnation though can make their own choices and decisions, and act independently of her ultimate desire. idk it's like putting her into a loop, one that's yet to meet it's end. each wuya holds her core values within themselves, but never finds that freedom... not yet. the bindings stay firm, but do slip little by little, waiting for the incarnation that finally manages to figure it out.

i gotta talk about wuya's eye.

so in wuya's OG lore, she is a villain. she was a pariah, loathed by gods and men alike. punished for her willfulness, and rebellious nature. like she absolutely refused to step down or compromise even a little bit. and killed a lot of people for her freedom. or at least what she perceives as freedom / the freedom she wants.

a list of her crimes include:

patricide

matricide

the slaughter of her entire sect

hunting and killing heavenly officials

killing innocents ??? ruining mortal lives ???

cursing people / forming curses

stealing from the heavens

stealing immortal wine

stealing the eye of bai/ze for knowledge and foresight

that's only a few. but that last one is pretty big. and just as a warning, i DO take some small creative liberties for my character building and world lore- but that eye is important. bai/ze is a divine creature, said to have supreme cosmic knowledge of the past and future. among a great many other amazing things,,, and i think for my personal stuff it's much the same. it was no easy task, but wuya being a cunning crow and quite skilled- plucked it's eye from it's head and placed it within her own.

this was arguably the worst crime she committed. everything was pretty bad, but considering how revered bai/ze is, and what it stands for ... well.

anyway in short.

this eye grants wuya the ability to see the unseen, to perceive energy and hold an understanding of ghosts, curses, and the divine she didn't before. as well as a small glimpse into various possibilities. it is probably her strongest tool. and in most verses / settings it is bound to her flesh and blood- no matter how many times she reincarnates.

yk stepping away from the rpc ? great. i feel safer, more comfortable. my social space has shrunk a lot but i also have a lot less pressure to perform.

however it does mean im out of one creative outlet, thus forcing me to get back into drawing regularly. it's so weird how that worked out. also finally been pushed into trying to write fics. but. i feel cringe because most my fave dynamics are oc x canon.the last fic i read was my friends fic, but before that? all i read was wangxian fics, MONTHS ago.

so after pulling wuya out of what, to me, felt like such a limiting space... i am really going to lean more into her-

not being human, no matter how hard she tries

her fluidity in gender and form

being a lot more unhinged than she seems

wuya's always been intended as a trickster, and that's pretty well seen. but she is a spirit, who actually feels a lot & expresses her passion and excitement very loudly. it's also very important that she always maintains a femininity and elegance in any form- but that she's also very expressive and unafraid to break the status quo of what any period or age may have for women. she is happy to talk through any situation, but is also perfectly happy engaging in a fight if it's more appealing to her. and with thousands of years under he belt in experience- challenging her is always hard. she never puts 100% into an actual conflict unless someone DOES push her to do otherwise.

wuya uses she / they / he. i mostly use she because i love women. however it changes based on what form she's using- and i may even default to they due to it just. idk. being so all encompassing for wuya specifically.

design wise ... i am gonna do some tweaks to her i think. and here i am just yapping because i can. and this side-blog is specifically FOR yapping. again, leaning into that fluidity more i may try to incorporate that somehow... feathers based on her level of emotion and excitement. probably add a couple of fangs ( four? ). she hides things and covers up in certain settings to avoid questions. but otherwise, wuya's behavior will always kind of give away that smthn is kinda odd about her.

she drinks, she laughs, she dances, she makes jokes ( bad humor ). idk. i love her as this weird enigmatic creature, but in the sense that she's a corvid at heart. goth baddie but she's also super freaky with it ykwm.

oh yes. we do have many jjk takes here. kenjaku is absolutely rancid, the vibes are foul. but they’re a well written villain, who’s terror factor comes primarily from the lack of actual motivation behind the heinous shit they’ve done.

kenjaku is out here doing their own thing for the love of the game.

just wait until i yap about buddhism and how they’re a perfect parallel to tengen, and embody the core concepts of the womb realm / creation ,,,

i do not abide by the idea that kenjaku doesn't take care of whatever body they're in. like. have you heard them talk? have you paid any attention at all to their behavior? kenjaku is an incredibly egotistical, and arrogant person. they're driven purely by self interest and amusement. and the heinous shit they do is as much for fun, as it is to accomplish the goal of building up something that can surpass their own ability.

there is also the fact that your body and how physically well it is- does impact jujutsu, and a stronger / healthier body makes you stronger. and if anyone is gonna be aware of that, it's kenjaku. who is one of the oldest characters in jjk. with arguably the most knowledge when it comes to cursed energy and sorcery.

anyway... they're vain as hell, i refuse to believe otherwise. vain, and disgusting, and hilarious without even trying to be. it's sooooo annoying i hate them so much.
