4 Insights From The Millennials Brunch
Intecoo was born as of a result of being tired of the negative stereotypes given to the millennial generation such as lazy, tired, entitled, etc. When in reality we are resourceful, adaptive, culture changing, and more. [Mindshift Series]
"It's like we built our own bomb shelter. We come from a world of big ideas. We listen to podcast. We like green smoothies. We stream our favorite shows & music. "Forgot Your Password?" saves lives. We respond to text with reaction GIFs. We secretly judge people who still call taxis...(what is that about?) We want to see the world, and believe we can change it! But first....Brunch!

As a company, we noticed a major disconnect in the strategy brands were using to market their products and services to the millennial. The Millennials Brunch is designed to empower a culture of collaboration by providing the platform to strengthen our professional networks, build authentic relationships and to facilitate conversations of how we're adapting to the rapidly changing business landscape.
After engaging 500+ Millennials...here's 4 insights we've learned:
1. Building A Community: An Effective Marketing Strategy
We started by leveraging our power base: friends doing cool sh*t in their community or career. We gathered 15 people in a room, partnered with a chef, poured mimosas and started a group conversation on better supporting each other. Yup, that's exactly what happens once a month at the event. As a result, our email list has grown to over 1,000+ actively engaged subscribers.
2. Newsletter: Be Visually Engaging & Valuable To The Subscriber
Ok so now we have a list...what do we send people? Our MVP (minimal viable product) was a simple concept called, "3 Articles of Inspiration." Internally, we're inspired by reading stories of people who follow their heart, built problem-solving businesses (that make money), and are damn excited about doing it! DUH! we decided to share the love and curate a weekly opt-in newsletter of 3 articles that touch the areas of entrepreneurship, technology and creativity. Of course, we now include our own content with call-to-action buttons and social media.
3. Embrace The Side Hustle: Most Millennials Have a 9-5 and a 5-9
We're all passionate about something! More and more of us are realizing the free to low-cost resources available to help build the very basics of an online business presence. Aware that we live in a direct-to-consumer market, a website, email address, contact list, social media account, and payment software/app will at least get us started in the right direction. The entrepreneurial spirit is meeting us at our points of interest. However, the reality of sink or swim is a BIG undertaking. There's comfort in being around like-minded people who can teach you a thing or two.
4. Millennials Want Personal Development & Collaboration
The initial excitement of a good idea has now worn off. It's time to execute and the paralyzing question sets in: Where do I start? This has led us to take a completely different approach to accessing educational information. We're taking advantage of videos, podcast, workshops, webinars, and ebooks to sharpen our skills in key areas that develop us personally & professionally. "How-to" content is at an all time high. Peer-to-peer learning & support makes complete sense...it's part of the culture!
