happy femslash february, here's a 300 page graphic novel about actual yuri on ice (too easy, sorry). this came out a couple days ago (2/24/26) so it’s fresh off the press!

the main character is arrogant and abrasive, but has incredible technical skill so it’s kinda warranted

but what her rival lacks in technique she’s able to make up in passion

and there’s that CLASSIC sports rivalry You Are The Only One Who Understands Me vibe

the things that stuck out to me most about this comic were 1) the motion looks REALLY good, it can be pretty hard to convey movement in a static medium but the artist nailed it; 2) the limited color is used sooo well, the page with the mirror grabbed me by the throat, 3) there’s a strong sense of isolation and desperation I really liked—because this is a solo sport, the way the characters seek each other as an anchor is super arresting, 4) as Cool™️ as the main character is, there are times where she makes for a good punchline <3 I love when cool characters have their cringe moments, it’s a charm point

the internal and interpersonal character conflicts really work, I definitely got emotional at the end. give it a read if you’re in the mood for some dramatic solo sport rivalmancy
