Questioning the Blood King. | Accepting

     As soon as the question leaves Aizawa’s lips, Kan offers the tilt of his head with one raised brow, as if he found it simply unbelievable that he was being questioned in this manner at all. One hand even raises to his chest in mock offense.     “I don’t know, Eraser.” He starts, voice deliberately calm and with an even tone. He kind of wants to smile, but his jaw ( as it always does ) hinders such a reaction without effort put in to make it so - as such, the smile does not appear. Often a bit of a hindrance in many ways, but very occasionally a blessing when one wants to keep a straight face.      “Does this look like the face of a man who is being anything but serious?” The hand on his chest turns and moves up just a tad, indicating his seemingly grim countenance as it nearly always is. The question is a joke in and of itself ( or a trick question, rather ), considering the only reason his straight face is being kept that why is his physiology and he knows it. Aizawa would know it too by now, all things considered.

/is running late to Kan-Sensei’s class and just so happens to crash into him at a corner

     It was a good thing for both their sakes that he happens to be about as sturdy as they come, therefore being overall unaffected by having someone as small at Nejire run into him. Really, all it resulted in on his end was the man giving a quiet grunt and blinking once or twice. 

     Instinctively, he reaches a hand out to steady the girl and make sure she doesn’t fall backwards after running into him. Once he’s sure she’s got her footing, he eyes the girl with a rather surprised look. “Nejire?” All thins considered, he could understand her being in a rush, what with her being a bit tardy and all, but still.    “You should probably avoid walking so fast in the halls, even if you are a little late.” As he speaks, he casually steers her around the corner and in the same direction he himself had been heading in before letting go of her shoulder. “Then again, if you walk into the classroom before I do because I’m also running late, then, well....” Making a vague hand gesture, his outward expression doesn’t really change, his poker face keeping up well. He’s still walking in that direction and assumes she’d get the picture that she should probably hurry along at least somewhat before him.

          [[ Random headcanon #4 ( methods of getting the blood + entrance exam ) ]]      [[ An integral part of Vlad’s costume is the cord that connects from his vambrace to a piece on his back ( or specifically over his spine on his upper back ), like you can see here.... ]]

     [[ The other end attaches to the vambrace, which attaches to the grid-like part on the back of his hand, which is where the blood comes out. And where does that blood come from? His back, of course. I do not by any means things it comes from his actual spine ( because that would be? dangerous as fuck? ), but kind of adjacent to it. There’s a ( relatively thick ) needle that pierces the same spot every time that is what allows him to funnel blood through the tube. Once it’s pierced, it definitely doesn’t stay there or do much of anything else, though, because that would just be hindering him and he can use his quirk to move the blood anyway.       Because of the use of a method like this, Kan is kind of... ‘meh’ when it comes to needles and they don’t really bother him - and he has a pretty high pain tolerance, so it doesn’t bother him on that front either at this point. He kinda built up an indifference towards both, in a way. ]]      [[ Of course, before he had a system like this, he had no good way to get his blood out so he could use it, and in cases like the entrance exam in order to get into Yuuei, he essentially had to go the honest to god Eren route of doing things, which was to literally bite his hands so he could have access to the blood he needed to use. His teeth are already sharp - so why not? It was the easiest way. The only problem with doing that is that he ends up injured in a less controlled way ( when he first met Recovery Girl after the entrance exam, she gave him a decent scolding for it when she healed him, of course ).       Because of this behavior, he probably squicked out a fair amount of other people taking the entrance exam in the same area as him. He felt... pretty bad about it. ]]      [[ When Kan took the entrance exam, a large portion of his points were from defeating the robots, though he also had some of his points from rescue. It was about a 2 to 1 ratio. ]]      [[ Before & after the entrance exam, he definitely ate a LOT of iron-rich foods to replenish his strength because it was the first time he’d really used his power a lot and it + the healing tired him out tremendously. ]]

    [[ Kan definitely has a routine that he generally sticks to. He’s an early riser, he gets up early in the morning to go jog and/or walk his dog. Then he takes a shower, gets ready in the morning, and heads over to Yuuer for work. Then he usually does his actual hero work in the afternoons. If he has to run any errands, they’re usually done either before hero work or after, depending on where he needs to go and that place’s closing hours. Sometimes he takes Bonzo to the park for a while in the afternoons. It’s a pretty normal daily routine! ]]

“Yeah your class seems much calmer than 1-A. Maybe that’s just because your class isn’t full of trouble makers! Or maybe you’re just a better teacher than Eraser!” Hizashi laughed at his joke, knowing full well that his friend would be upset, at least a little, at the accusation. In all honesty, Hizashi thought both of the homeroom teachers were good teachers.

Hizashi was still leaning against the other, putting almost his full weight on the teacher. He knew the other teacher was pretty strong and could hold him up. Plus, Hizashi was pretty comfortable so he didn’t want to move. “My classes are going alright! Students keep complaining about doing the work though so I think next time they complain I’ll assign an essay they have to write in English. Or maybe give them a pop quiz! Outside of your classes how’s life? I feel like we never chat or anything!”

     “They’re... good kids.” Even as he spoke his initial reaction to Mic’s words, Kan lifted his chin a bit and cast a quick glance around the room as if he might find Eraser skulking around anywhere within earshot. Lucky for both of them, or at least Hizashi’s sake, he didn’t find see them around at all. “Careful with your words there, Mic. He might hear you.”

     Since the blonde has made himself at home leaning heavily on one side of Kan, the man simply crosses his arms, shifting his stance a bit to give him - or both of them, rather - a better center of balance without much thought. He’s known Hizashi for fifteen years now and this is hardly enough new. Besides, the man’s a bit of a twig. It’s like being perched on my a bird... not that he should probably tell them that, because lord knows how they’d take it. “Good luck with that. Hopefully it doesn’t tank anyone’s grade or anything.” He knows the other would do it, too, the poor kids. He’s personally quite glad he doesn’t have to take English anymore. Where Hizashi seemed to excel with the subject, Kan hadn’t done very well. It’s still a bit of a work in progress.       “Uhh, well...” His head tilted back a bit, thinking for a moment. “I can’t really say that life’s that exciting outside of working here or getting hero work done. Bonzo’s doing well! I took him for a walk this morning. What about you? How’s the radio show and everything going?”

If you couldn’t help somebody properly, then you didn’t help them at all since it might make things worse. Everything would be fine eventually(she was somewhat surprised there weren’t counselors everywhere once they returned), they just needed a little time.

Still, it hurt everybody when their comfort place was taken away. According to Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs, safety was second to the bottom of the pyramid. The bases had to be filled in before the person could move on to the next step, and the above steps were pretty important if she was going to be a hero.

A nudge pulls her out of her train of thought, her eyes looking at where he’s pointing. Not quite as familiar with any of this as she should have been, having not seen the point in her earlier years. At the same time, she didn’t exactly want to look like an idiot either. “….Taiyaki?”

     Kan couldn’t tell exactly what was going on behind Ibara’s downcast, solemn eyes, but he knew that any thoughts related to the woods or the incident that had happened not too long ago within a similar place likely weren’t good ones. By the way that she seemed to shift a bit as he pulled her out of said thoughts told him all he really needed to know.      He himself wasn’t typically the best with trying to help people with their feelings and such - he’s nowhere near eloquent when it comes to expressing himself but, well, he tries - and god knows he doesn’t look like the most approachable of people, but he can at least make an attempt. Ibara was one of his students anyway, so he felt somewhat responsible.      Granted, he felt somewhat responsible anyway, considering how that seed of doubt had been sown... but he didn’t linger on that mindset just the way that he didn’t want Ibara to linger on such thoughts either. 

     Even as she spoke up about a personal preference to go and get from the festival’s vendors, she still didn’t sound too enthused, but he supposed switching the mood won’t go that fast. “If that’s what you want.” Considering Yuuei’s tendency to go beyond even in these kind of things, he has no doubt they’d find it around here somewhere. “We’ll have to find it first, but you can always point out something else if you see anything you want along the way.”       After that point, Kan simply gestured forward with one hand as if inviting her to start walking before taking a step in that direction himself.

    “yup! that’s me! ms. blake baron! i won’t get into any more details, though. it’s good to meet you, though!” she held her hand out to him, a big smile on her face as she looked up at him.

     “and, yeah, same quirk! i just manipulate my own blood, though. i’m not a big fan of sharing that, but i feel like i can trust you. hah, wouldn’t it be weird if we were related or something? long lost cousins?” she laughed, mostly at herself.

     “but, yeah. it’s useful if you ever give yourself a papercut or something, right? god only knows i’m so clumsy to begin with, so it’s pretty handy if i ever accidentally hurt myself or get hurt. i can also make solid objects with my own blood! i think i can safely assume you can too?”

     The ‘won’t get into any more details’ prompted a bit of curiosity from him, but he didn’t really bother asking after that point. He can only assume she just means she doesn’t want to talk about work outside of actually being there which, let’s face it, is kind of understandable. “Nice to meet you then, Baron.” Seeing her outstretched hand, he lifts one of his own to take it and shake it, though conscious of his strength.

     When they mentioned blood manipulation, however, his brows rose. He’d expected something with the use of blood, but it’s unexpected to hear that they have the same quirk. “...really? Huh... Maybe.” At least the other seemed to take it in good faith.       As for their mention of using it for things like papercuts and the sort, it was his turn to offer a mild laugh. “I guess you’re right. Can’t say I’ve never done something similar.” Truth be told, it’s literally saved him more than once, but that isn’t exactly the kind of thing one says to a near stranger. “Ah, well, I don’t do it very often and the object can’t be very big, but I can, sure.”

EXCUUUUSE MIC WHILE HE HUNTS DOWN VLAD AND THEN SLAMS HIS HAND ON HIS DESK! "Vlad. Buddy. Pal. We have a small problem with one of your students. A very specific student that seems to think English is a useless class and therefore isn't putting in all of their effort. Your kids are great, but this one is even too stubborn for me to deal with! I assume like ME that you don't want to see your kids slack off- Or even possibly fail a class, hmmmm?"

     The man’s head was ducked somewhat, concentrating on the paper he’s grading in red pen, when he hears the rapid approach of Mic, whose steps at current were just as loud and rushed as the man himself usually was. That wasn’t actually... normal for them, but Kan chose to ignore it anyway because he figured it had nothing to do with him. And why would it?     When the other actually did approach his desk and slam a gloved hand down on it, however, Vlad’s own hand jumped a bit, making a small streak of red on the paper he was working on and resulting in numerous rapid blinks and an inward wince.      Slowly, his head rose, shoulders rolling back as his posture corrected itself, though he said nothing since Yamada was already giving him an earful to listen to. Setting the pen down to the side, he gazed at the paper before, finally, looking towards the other teacher.      As for what the blonde is telling him, Kan isn’t entirely sure he believes it in its entirety. He can’t really... imagine any of his students just writing off another class like that without much of a care. It didn’t sound right. Mic wouldn’t have a reason to lie to him like this, though, and a quick once-over of the other man’s posture and irritated look pretty much confirmed that they were actually, legitimately worked up over the issue. 

     While Yamada seemed to come to some kind of conclusion, Vlad exhaled a heavy sigh. He himself wasn’t the greatest with English and never had been, so he could sort of understand the struggle, but still. “No, I don’t.” Leaning one forearm on the edge of his desk, his other hand comes up to unthinkingly encase his chin in thought. “That sounds... troublesome. I guess I can try talking to them, if you want. Maybe they need to hear it from a different perspective.” Which would make sense, at least in his own mind. After all, if they were hearing the whole ‘learning this is important’ speech from the adult that’s teaching it to them, it would probably sound biased and annoying to most teenagers. “Which one is it?”

     [[ Kan is a man who knows his limits very well when it comes to using his quirk. After all, his quirk is one that can put him at a severe disadvantage in a crisis situation if he uses/loses too much of his blood. You know? That thing called blood loss? People die from that. It’s one of the reasons why he’s always eating iron-rich foods with his meals and snacking on things like that throughout the day. ]]     [[ Granted… just because he knows his limits well when it comes to how much blood he can use, that doesn’t mean he won’t push himself beyond that point if he really needed to - and he’s done it before. Needless to say, Recovery Girl has gotten on his case on a few different occasions when he was a student for doing just that. ]]
