According to George Chauncey’s eponymous Gay New York, the Harlem Renaissance of the ’20s provided an opportunity for gay men to create their own social and cultural spaces within the burgeoning nightlife in the neighborhood.

I just found this petition today, through a really upsetting string of tweets where a girl was talking about how when she was raped as a CHILD pornhub kept her video up for months even when she asked them to take it down, until she pretended to be a lawyer. In the replies to the tweet were a bunch of terrible, disgusting grown fucking men asking for the LINK to the video. It made me sick to my stomach and it made me fear for other girls that this could happen to/could have happened to.

But I also found this petition in the replies and it’s so close to a million signatures. I also learned that it HAS happened to other girls. Like a lot. The link in the petition is a website that links to TONS of news articles and tweets about scenarios like that. One case where a girl was KIDNAPPED and FIFTY EIGHT videos of her were uploaded. It’s how they found her. Senators have requested investigations into pornhub because of how frequently things like this come up. I just don’t think that anyone’s sexual pleasure is more important than justice for the people affected. I usually don’t make my own posts about important topics on this site but this is really really important to me. Please sign the petition, if it’s important to you, too.
