RE: Universes Beyond History.
You said you were worried about it being popular. I don’t want to be trite, but… duh? War of Three Kingdoms is highly beloved. There’s no world where a Sengoku era set doesn’t smash. Or yes, Rome. Sparta. Persia. The Khan. Charlemagne. Alexander.
But, I don’t believe you’re the WOTC who was 90s WOTC anymore. You’re not willing to print a set as male dominated and non diverse as the tribalism of the Old World. You won’t be accurate to the source just as you weren’t accurate to LOTR. As much as I’d love the WOTC who made three kingdoms and The Dark, that’s not who we have now. And that’s who you’d have to be again to do it right. And I’d rather you never do it, then do it “inspired for modern audiences.”
I hate to break it to you, but women and people of color existed in the past. And many of them did amazing, memorable things even it was less reported on at the time.
