A plunger and an egg beater for limbs, and that godforsaken pepper shaker body — the Daleks were probably meant to serve as minions to Davros' missuses household bidding. If only the Doctor knew of the higher purpose of their creation, we would have ourselves a nice breakfast of egg and bread on a Sunday morning.

Sonickraft Entertainment is a production house run by siblings, Deepti & Aditya Jha.

The symbol is a helix waveform that denotes the character 'S'.

Sonic Eco Systems is another of the client's ventures that I was comissioned for.

Sonic Eco Systems

After Sonickraft Entertainment, I was commissioned to design a logo for another of the client's ventures, called Sonic Eco Systems. It deals with Green Technology — Rain water harvesting, solar & waste management, green interior solutions and green building solutions, amongst others; by engaging small to large groups such as builders, gram panchayats, interior designers, architects as well as the Government. The organization intends to be a one stop solution for all the green management works.

The thought of bridging the gap between growth in technology and managing a sustainable environment brought forward this symbol — The similarity in the shape of a mechanical gear, a tractor's wheel and a flower in full bloom and the union of these elements.

So, what happened to you lately?

It's Jazz Tonite

I don't consider myself a pao. I was born and brought up in Mumbai city and feel part of its circuit. However, one of the good things about being part of a family of Goan ancestry is that the music is always playing. It's a staple, second only to Goan sausages. Every morning it spews out the rusted mesh of the old radio, making it's way across the hall, dodging a cup of tea, eggs and bread laid out on the table; past the window, over wrinkled legs resting themselves on the porch and onto the street. And as you pass through a whiff of it you stop in your tracks to listen to Lorna's voice, all the while tapping your feet to the bass, snapping your fingers to the beat. And when it's done you wish the old man on the porch a gracious greeting for the delight and walk away a jolly bloke. That's a Goa different from the weekend escapades, fast parties and booze binging people have come to know it for. Every birth, union and death is celebrated with music. It wouldn't be wrong to say that it is part of their code of living - Susegad. It can all be summed up with that word.

This is what has been passed down to me. For as long as I consciously remember, there was always an Alfred Rose serenading his love, an MJ and his drop dead thriller groove, a Freddy wanting to ride his bicycle, my grandmother humming Amazing Grace, and I would be all ears to it, soaking it in with awe. For this environment I am thankful. It goes to say what these musicians have done by bending sound, I try to attempt with light - to tell stories of the human spirit.

In a few days from now I shall be visiting this, the land of my natives, after a gap of roughly 10-15 years and my mind is set on sighting a lone chap romancing his saxophone. Sighting crabs mating stands as runner-up. Sighting pot bellied men sunbathing on the beach stands consolation (UPDATE: This did happen).

Coincidentally this morning my mother brought home my late grandfather's collection of audio cassettes. For those unaware: These are rectangular-ish, two holed, magnetic recording devices capable of playing back audible data. Keep a pencil at hand in case you attempt to play one and the magnetic tape comes out. In the event that you are unable to twirl it back in, dismantle the casing, remove the strip, hold one end of it in the palm of your hand, run like crazy and look back as it leaves a serpentine path behind. It turns out many of them are Konkani albums by yesteryears greats, set in some of my preferred genres - Jazz and Rock & Roll. While I barely understand a word of the language, it is something rustic yet beautifully crafted that it is worth falling in love with. And the timing is good too; serves as a warm-up session for what is to come.

Treetins is an interest based social network that aims at getting strangers talking.

I had created this logo as part of an agency-wide pitch for an early concept for the social network.

Horn OK Pleej

Logo for a friend's startup. This shape of the logo also doubled up as the visiting card itself.

In India, 'Horn OK Please' is a phrase commonly seen hand painted on the rear of trucks decked up in bright colors. Attempting to find the origin and meaning of the phrase is pointless.

Vorldoo

Worldoo.com is a social network for kids aged 6-12 years. Before I came on board Worldoo as its first full time illustrator, I had worked on the agency-wide pitch for its logo. Back then the platform’s concept was quite different to what it has evolved to, including the name and style.
