I've been really enjoying using Zen browser for my personal internet use - it's wonderfully chill in the way that it structures things.
FOR FUCK'S SAKE THOUGH, please sort your update process, Zen. So many updates force a redownload of the browser because they break the install. You're going to lose users that way.
Clarity feels good
I don't know if it's having dumped a bunch of information out of my head last week related to a work project, or a drop in anxiety from sorting my tax return for last year, or a bit of coffee-induced mania, but I feel a real clarity this morning. I like it. More of that please. Everything feels manageable and in-reach.
A Pattern Language
JESUS H CHRIST ON A BICYCLE! How have I had a copy of this book for years but not cracked it open!??! The interaction of people and space is something my brain is absolutely INFECTED with.
HOW ON EARTH have I had a copy of Cadence and Slang sitting on my shelf for over five years and not cracked that bad boy open?! This is going to change. Even the design of the book is (unsurprisingly) a delight to engage with!
I think this came from a period in time where I was just buying up potential experiences. It's nice to feel ready and open to engage with them.
Whiskerwood has radicalized my brain. I now see everything in terms of optimization potential. The upside is, maximising coziness is also an end-goal.
Finished reading The Art of War: The Definitive Interpretation of Sun Tzu's Classic Book of Strategy
author: Sun Tzu name: Kevin average rating: 3.96 book published: -500 rating: 2 read at: 2012/09/12 date added: 2020/07/19 shelves: review: The author's fairly prosaic take on the text seems to focus a lot on the relationship between warlord and ruler, rather than the act of organisation of forces. Overall, I think the translation suffers from his focus, and by trying to remove what he sees as ambiguity, he removes a lot of what is worthwhile to ponder in Thomas Cleary's translation. From looking at the afterword, I see that he's done a translation of the Book of Five Rings, as well. I'd be far more interested in his translation of that work, given that it focuses more on individual struggle, which is relevant to his experience as a martial artist. Overall, not impressed. Not every great warrior is automatically a great writer.

Can't recommend it enough. You won't make a published game just by reading it, but you'll understand all of the work you should be doing before you write word one of code in an editor.
