do you have any preference towards the type of dynamic between Withnail and Marwood? there aren't many fics that fit in the exact premise of Hurt/Comfort, particularly any ones where their dynamic isn't kind of weird and/or nasty, but I did recently compile a fic rec list for a mutual, if any of these fics strike your fancy!

And yes a few of those fics do strike my fancy thank you very much! That long one Holding On is one I’ve already read and my god did I enjoy it.

As for your fic Small Comforts that you’ve just recommended I’ve already read it! I’ve also read several other of your fics although I don’t remember exactly which ones (I wish ao3 has a kudos history) but if I do remember correctly my favorite so far by you has to be Losing Grip!

wow thanks! I feel kinda bad about not having updated Losing Grip for a while now (I've been focused on other long-fic ideas as well as loads of oneshots) but I'm glad you liked it! It's definitely been one of my favourites to write :D

As for Withnail unrequited love fics, I guess I do have a recommendation: How dare you tell him I love you by lost_long_ago, a series of short ficlets that look at the different interpretations of that line. It's a great fic :)

I swear Stephen Fry and Hugh Laurie have a bit of tether that attaches them to each other and makes it so they can’t take jobs alone.

I mean obviously there’s all the things they’ve done together, but even just minor parts in other shows it’s always the two of them!

I’m struggling here, I’ve looked at every single image on Getty and on Alamy and taken pictures of the show myself and looked at the BluRay and looked at eBay listings of photos of the show and Instagram and- well basically I’ve done a lot and I DONT HAVE ANY GOOD PHOTOS!

I mean I’ve got half of his shoe here and the other half in black and white there and the whole thing sorta blurry but in color over here and yknow, I’ve got a pretty good idea. But boy do I want I nice high definition shot of the whole shoe.

Help me guys, I can’t be the only one interested in his stupid rad red shoes.

Thank you! I’ve got those first three but I’m just realizing that I never got that last clip! I thought I’d picked the show clean of good shoe shots, but I obviously passed that one by. Oh and also interestingly enough I’m fairly certain that the third pic is of a different shoe, I’ve got a few more pics of that photo shoot and it’s got a different fastening on the front, that makes it the third red shoe that I know of him wearing for Rick (although there’s only one in the show I believe)

I love the idea of any Rik and Ade character being suddenly teleported into the normal world. Y’know no more comedy logic. Can you imagine?

Richie punches Eddie and oh my gosh his hands hurt how on earth- ow- that’s not supposed to happen when you punch someone! Gosh and it’s been over a week and that head wound Eddie gave him still hasn’t healed, in fact he’s starting to feel a bit woozy…

Rick’s yelling at some poor undeserving person but before they can hit him he faints and now he’s waking up in hospital. The doctor’s saying something about him being severely malnourished and in general horrible condition and now is asking about his living situation.

Vyvyan bangs his head against a wall and oh shit, that’s odd it’s night now and he’s on the floor, let’s try that again and- huh it’s morning now and his head really is starting to hurt a lot in fact- huh it’s night again.

Rick’s the kinda guy to give himself a little sweet treat out of the fridge about 20 times a day because he deserves it and has earned it for putting up with everybody.

But if anyone asks about it and says that he’s been treating himself a lot lately he’d rebuke their statement refuse to admit thinking that way himself and say that people don’t have to earn food.

However if he ever sees anyone else in the house getting a treat for themself (especially Neil) he’d yell at them and say that they shouldn’t get to have any because it’s his and he’s earned it and they don’t do a lick of work and they’re useless anyway so they shouldn’t get any ever.

But this whole headcanon is completely academic because really they don’t have any food in their fridge much less sweet things, so really Rick’s the sorta guy that slowly starves to death.

…Anyway Guy Fuddle is Adrian Edmondson’s Kevin Turvey. And I’m not just saying that because of his anorak, or maybe I am, who knows, not me.

Sometimes I think about just how much fantiction we’d all have if Bottom and well all these Rik and Ade shows had come out when it was common to make fanfiction.

I mean we’ve frankly got a ton if you think about it in relation to older shows that had all their fanfiction written decades after their peak popularity, but just imagine if its peak popularity had been a few years ago or something, we’d be drowning in the stuff!

Anyway are any of you folk immensely popular YouTubers by chance? Feel like name dropping a few shows to push their popularity? Feel like making my day?

I’m gonna watch both eventually and well everything eventually, but rather then save the best for last I’d like to have it right now please!

Just Finished Rik Mayall Presents!

I quite enjoyed myself but I will admit to spending the entire time whilst watching Micky Love wondering if Micky himself is supposed to be faking the accent or if it’s actually supposed to be his real voice.

I love Rik’s work, he’s an incredible actor, his performance as Micky was great, until he spoke that is. I mean he just couldn’t do the accent at all, still wondering if it was supposed to be that way for some reason. I mean, maybe Micky is faking it himself for some reason? They’d have showed that if it was the case though. But the accent did drop sometimes so maybe they were showing it there? I think it was just because Rik couldn’t say certain words in Micky’s accent though.

Just this morning I was in despair, for I truly had read the lot. Well not everything but darn near everything. No more fanfiction for ANY Rik or Adrian character.

I then sat down and checked ao3. My daily check that every once in a while yields a fic.

Huh Bottom 114 fics, not 109, 114… HOLY SHIT THE FICS THEY’RE EVERYWHERE OMG RIK AND ADE FEST! THE AUTHORS THEY’VE BEEN SAVING UP THEIR FICS FOR THIS MOMENT!
