the more i think of steve’s ending in endgame the more i get annoyed by it
it completely ruins the ending of catfa. and that matters!! bc thats the only origin story that leaves you sad. he’s in the future and he saved the world and he’s an iconic hero… but at what cost? everyone he’s ever known and loved is dead or dying. ask most people that they’ll say that’s among their greatest fears.
endgame retroactively ruins that. it doesnt give the emotional punch intended* if it just gets fixed a couple movies later
++ steve knows what its like to lose everyone, that’s why he ran those support groups, by that logic, he would know how to support people who woke up in the future, as he once did, and get this…. he would!! because thats who he is!!
*the emotional punch in catfa is miles better than the ones in endgame because its not just for shock value. we all knew going into that film what would happen, hell, they told us. the movie starts in the present/2012 (2011?) but it still hurts when we watch steve realise all he’s lost.
